How did we squander a week in Kyoto and not see any of the temples? Well it is what it is and we have one day left in which to see is much as we can, so to save some time we're taking the Kyoto Skyhop bus. This service is a fixed-price, hop-on, hop-off bus service with 13 stops around Kyoto close to the major tourist attractions. It's funny how time gets away from you! Here's the places we visited:
- Kinkakuji - The Golden Pavilion. An amazing sight!
- Kyoto Imperial Palace - Kyōto Gosho. This was a bit "meh" but the architecture and gardens are beautiful, and it's FREE to get in!
- Higashiyama - Beautiful old district of Kyoto. A bit of a tourist trip, but nonetheless stunning
- Hōkan-ji Temple - Yasaka-no-Tou - One of the MOST instagrammed sites in Japan, but stunning in the sunset
- Kyomizudera - The number one temple site in Kyoto and a great place to look across the city

this is a great route, I always enjoyed using these hop on hop off buses lately, they are really convenient for efficient travelling. Its amazing how you covered most of the must see spots in one day, great weather for some beautiful photos!

Totally agree! A great service. I can't believe we spent a week in Kyoto and left the temples to the last day! There's just so much to see and do there. We were lucky with the weather, it had been raining on and off through the day and pretty cold but cleared up when we got to Higashiyama for those amazing afternoon photos ☺.
