@groundhopper FC 8:00 they were throwing tennis balls, because the game was planed for sunday and a Leverkusen fan in the dfl/ bundesliga Management changed it to friday tho they are playing europa league on Thuraday. Cologne were not allowed to move their game before, so they played on friday and 2 days laiter again

@@christianheinen4005 Hat einen anderen Grund als das leichte Werfen (auch). Als die DFL Montagsspiele einführen wollte, wurde in sämtlichen Stadien dagegen protestiert. Dort warfen Fans sämtlicher Vereine Tennisbälle und Klopapier auf den Rasen. Die Analogie vom Verschieben dieses Spiels zu Montagsspielen dürfte ersichtlich sein. Das ist der größere Hintergrund zu den Tennisbällen selbst.

I was at the Hertha vs Koeln in Berlin and sat close to the visitors section, unfortunately Koeln lost 0-2, but the atmosphere next to me was amazing. 🔥 My 2nd favorite team after BVB.

The rivalry got a bit heated, when Leverkusen signed the talent of the decade as a free transfer from FC Köln. It was mainly the fault of our old manager Armin Veh.

5:53 the BayArena is almost never sold out. Even for most of their international games, Bayer has to give away the tickets for the home section for free to pull at least some kind of attention. They just are a whacky club with a really weak fan base. They are basically the RB Leipzig of western Germany.

Naja die Coloniacs haben in ihrem Blog schon bestätigt, dass man die Spiele gegen Leverkusen durchaus auch als Derby betrachtet und wenn die ganze Kurve Derbysieger FC brüllt, dann ist Leverkusen nicht so egal. Natürlich ist das Derby gegen MG umso bedeutender.
The game is sold out but Leverkusen gifts there tickets away to create a better count. Officially the stadium was sold out 9 times but there are often thousands of seats empty

I think that you can difference between Leverkusen and cologne quite difficult. Cologne has 1,000,000 inhabitans, leverkusen just 150,000. Of course is every cologne game sold out. If Leverkusen would have 1,000,000 inhabitants, everything would be sold out too. A lot of people tend to forget that. Also Leverkusen does not get a lot of money from Bayer as people believe. Dortmund, bayern, Leipzig all receive more from there sponsores and Nobody says sh*t. Also was leverkusen the first ultra group in germany, kinda like the root of everything. But people just say what they hear on social media. Btw i am not a fan of both. Cologne has an amazing fan culture, but the disrespect against a club that is over 40 years part of the bundesliga and even produced tons of great players is just dumb and ignorant. As i have seen the fan culture kina developed over the years in Leverkusen in a good way. Itd not the best atmosphere but its improving. Anyway props to you, awsome blog🙏

It's a kind of distortion of competition, since clubs like Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, Leipzig and Hoffenheim have a group behind them in addition to the other means. Not really surprising are the clubs with the worst fans.

So in the end Bayer AG probably makes more money of the club than shoving money into it

It was a form of protest. The game was supposed to be on Sunday, but Leverkusen wanted to play on Friday so they have more time to recover. Cologne wasn't asked and had the same problem this year when their game against Slovacko was canceled due to fog and the had to play on Friday and back on Sunday in the league. And they weren't allowed.
As a fan of a smaller Bundesliga club (Mainz) I sometimes feel like missing out on things like this, you know invading another stadium. But hey

I'm not supporting Leverkusen at all, it's a town which mostly exists because of its large chemical industrial estates. Apart from this, nothing is going on there. Nearly the whole squad is living in the better areas of Cologne or elsewhere. But I have some respect for their fans, forming one of the first ultra-style supporting groups within Germany named 'Mad Boyz' in the beginning of the 90s.
