I've had this problem with many aluminum & paraben-free deodorants and I think I've narrowed it down to the coconut oil and or shea butter. The best deodorant I've found that smells great and does not do this is Love Beauty And Planet brand. Also the Mario one is only 14 something on Amazon.
The downside with native that I have noticed after using it for a couple years is it makes the pit of your clothes STINK. I live in an area with multiple seasons, so I hang my "out of season" clothes away for a few months. I only hang my clothes after they've been washed and I noticed that the arpits would be cold too and they would smell like awful B.O. to the point I had to wash all of my out of season clothes again before I could wear them. That got really annoying to me, even clothes I was wearing currently that just hung in my closet for a while would stink. I got tired of all the laundry and the price so I stopped buying it.
as someone already mentioned, mineral salt crystal is alum, which is postassium aluminum. This type of crystal actually has MORE aluminum in it than regular aluminum deoderant.
I use to use Arm & Hammer Aluminum Paraben free deodorant. I used it for a few years, then months ago, I noticed there was a change to their formula. It use to hold me all day. Now it lasts for 2 to 3 hours. I hate that Arm & Hammer changed it. Plus it was so affordable.
I noticed the change too! They used to use hops (I learned the hard way as I’m allergic) but noticed a year or so ago it was no longer in the list! It was a good change for me but I wasn’t really able to try it before. It’s the cheaper I can find near me so that’s the main reason I go for it.
According to google, when aluminum compounds contained in deodorant are absorbed through your skin, an immune response can be triggered which can cause lymph nodes in the armpits! Hope this helps
Lymph nodes are a natural part of the body, theyre there regardless because it is part of the body's detox routes. She was talking about the swelling...
Interesting that Toms left white marks for you. I'm using it now and haven't had that issue, and I really like it! I've also used Every Man Jack and it was pretty good. It's clear, so it doesn't leave marks and it lasted forever. I get the same irritation from deodorants with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which is a harsh thing to put directly onto the skin. It doesn't seem like Secret and Ivory contain baking soda, but they must have some other kind of irritant, so I will stay away, thanks!
@@simplelittlemoments Not your fault, they intentionally do misleading marketing, where some even say these salts are "aluminum free" and then you read the fine prints and realize it's only certain kind of aluminum free, not aluminum free, duh.
Love how people hear fancy non organic names and assume they are bad for you? Are there actually studies done on it? What I have found is the real reason those things are in there is because that is what makes deodorant and antiperspirant work. Lol mostly the antiperspirant though. Deodorant is just a mask. But if you want your body to do something unnatural(ironic right) like...say...not sweat. Then heck yeah youre gonna need something unnatural to accomplish that.
haha, i know what you mean! well, there are specific links to aluminum in deodorant that can put women at a higher risk for breast cancer, so that is a personal motivator for me to try to use deodorants without it! you're right though, they do make deodorant WORK!
The unnatural ingredients are also disrupting our hormonal system as women, and paired with every other wrong thing we are consuming, IT IS leading to infertility. So, we should be offered healthy alternatives to not stink and men who run the industries should think of women's health more when Developing these products.

Oh I will have to try those ones!

Totally!!! I agree completely- such a weird “side effect” from using Native, I found the exact same thing would happen.

Thanks so much for leaving this comment - I had not known that previously!!

i hate when brands change a good formula!! dang!
I thought they had changed the formula! It used to be my favorite. Now it’s horrible. Such a bummer! What do you use now?
@lynnesj I've been using Schmidt's Deodorant. It's good, but pricey.

I'll have to try the top two recommendations! I've been looking to switch it up. Do sunscreen next! haha
You should totally try them! And great idea, I do love me some SPF 🧴
Can aluminum cause a lymph node in armpit to swell?

That is something to ask a medical professional.

i'm glad you found this helpful! it's so hard to find good ones!
great review, nice to watch. Crystal deodorants (salt deodorants) are NOT aluminum-free. It is made of potassium alum, which is... aluminum salt.
Well shut me up! I didn’t know that, haha thank you for pointing that out!!!!

I made the same mistake when I was starting out with aluminum free deodorants. Crystal deos are made of aluminum salts.

You have no idea who owns toms of Maine do you
woahhhh! colgate-palmolive!? i had no idea!
Schmidts is by far the best
I’ll have to try it again! What’s your fav scent??
Schmiddts made my armpit break out in the worst rash I have ever had in my life. Apparently I'm super sensitive to baking soda.
