An example of a match Serena played well and still lost was Wimbledon 2008, winner count way more than her unforced errors with lots of aces but she still lost to Venus

I am a hardcore Serena fan but I have to admit this final was phenomenal. Kerber deserved the title even Serena knew it, KERBER BEAT HER! What a way to win your 1st Slam.
What a match. Kerber's shot tolerance was unmatched and her footwork is so sooooo good here, never off balance. Not as graceful as Graf on her toes but reminds me a lot of Henin's footspeed and movement as well as Halep. Anticipated Serena's patterns so well. This was Serena at the height of her powers as well, so it's a fantastic win for Kerber.
I forgot that the third set was so close and Serena serve let her down. One of my favorite things in tennis has been to see Serena after losing a grand slam final welcome a lady into the Grand Slam Club. I loved her welcoming Angelique into the Grand Slam club in 2016 and I especially loved her welcoming Maria into the Grand Slam Club in 2004.
this is definitely one of the greatest women's tennis finals of the modern era. both players especially Kerber played out of her mind. also, Kerber was able to beat Azarenka only during this tournament in her 8th meeting so she earned this grand slam.
Sorry Serena has NEVER been gracious or a good sport in losing, she might've faked it here but she was so pissed off underneath, she just presumed she'd win this and Kerber shocked her by not giving up and the more Kerber refused to give up the more pissed off Serena got, she was an aggressive egotistical woman and it wasn't just Osaka's match that came out.
This wasnt just Kerbers biggest moment of her career at that point, imo this was the "Playstyle era shift" in the WTA, the Big Babe playstyle that had been the "meta" for almost 2 decades that Sells started and the Williams sisters prefected, and players like Muguruza,Sharapova, Gorgi,Azarenka,Safina, Osaka,Ostapenko all incorporated as their playstyle was now at the mercy of hyper athletic, all arounders, players like Kerber,Halep, Andrescu,Swiatek,Barty can defend these flat baseline big hitters better than other defenders/pushers/counter punchers and yet they also made their own offensive shots with heavy spin angles or laser accuracy with Solid pace which is harder to defend than just bludgeoning the ball flat at the for corners of the baseline constantly, also the more varied spins of slice, flat, topspin make flat baseliners error forcefully so the very ego boosting "Match is in my hands alone" fallacy was shattered. This match would be the equivalent of Sampras vs Djokovic (playstyle wise)
@deepakmahajan170 Barty and Osaka are 2-2 head to head and none of them post 2019 , and 2021 was Barty at her best, she made mince meat out of offensive flat ball strikers
@deepakmahajan170 Swiatek doesn't have biggest FH, it's only of the biggest but Sabakenka has the biggest, but it's modern techniques so it still has margin, she's used slice more often the past 2 years and that lend her to win majors now
@deepakmahajan170 and there's also a difference in just pushers (wozniacki, errani) and "Smart aggressive counter punchers" (Kerber,Halep,Gauff) they just use their unrivaled speed to get to shots that 98% of the tour gives up on and paints lines with accuracy rather than power. BTW the Halep drug suspension is extremely shadey since one of the prosicuters was former lawyer for Sharapova, who compared to Haleps at worst genuine accident from procedure ,is nowhere near as bad as 10 consecutive years of doping for a medical condition that at best resolved 9 years prior
One of greatest match in womens tennis for me ...kerber defence is impeccable ....but Serena for her standards she make more unforced errors than kerber that cost her in this match and her ace points was low in this match according to other matches she played ...but kerber deserved the championship ❤
From Roland Garros 2003 to Roland Garros 2012 it's the golden era of WTA Serena Williams benefit from two weak era 1999-2002 and mid 2012 to mid 2017 I still think from 2017 to 2020 still weak era but it's a little bit better with new generation Osaka Andresco Swiatek Ostapenko but there's no continuously but still better than those pushers from last decade
Well, that may be your way to put it. I'd say, she is a phenomenal counter puncher, who truly works for every point of hers. She has one of the most unique styles of play on tour. Personally, my favorite !
This match is a pure testament to the sheer talent of serena williams - Her speed and power in this match compared to how she played against Ms.Henin Hardenne at 2003 wimbledon is way lower yet the fact that she was able to not only reach grand slam finals in her late thirties but also give her much younger opponents a much harder time on court is a testament to her pure, god given talent both technically and mentally.
Serena really was her best in the 2000’s . She more in shape I felt. But its hard to compare from over years apart. The courts were much slower by this time and that changed the mens and womens game. If she volleyed better , she likely would have won.
The net isn’t really Serena’s friend. When she plays doubles with her sister, people constantly try to bring Venus to the net and avoid Serena whereas they should do the opposite.
I disagree, I think it’s fairly well-known that Venus is the better Vollyer of the two sisters and also has much better anticipation at the net than Serena
Serena is so not clutch anymore. So many finals lost just by awful play or players simply outplaying her. Now that her serve isn't free point after free point and she actually has to get into many rallies, she fails.
I like that Williams sisters always use the first ball given to serve. Wondering why players choose two from three/four balls from the ballboys/girls while somehow in the end you'll get the one you rejected tho, so why'd even bother to choose.
Players look at the different balls to decide what kind of serve they are going to do. I believe they have 8 ball circulating at a time. Every 7 games the balls will be replaced with 2 new tins (8 new balls) smoother balls (the ones that haven't been hit much) players tend to choose that for their first serve and fluffier balls (the ones that have been hit the most) for their second serve. I may be wrong about this next part but also smoother balls are better for bigger serves and fluffier balls are better for your more spinnier serves. 😀
They use 6 new balls every 9 games, except they switch after the first 7 games in the beginning (warm ups count as 2 sets). If they're serving a fast ball, they want the one with the lowest nap. If they are serving a spinner/curve they look for one with the highest nap.
I must say that serena was taking more risky business than kerber. She was brave to go to the net, played volley, taking kerber from side to side. The defensive side of kerber was very good but she did not play variety in her game. But nevertheless she won this slam. And another two slams then got baby
