      @@dr.donnawalter4380 what a strange comment to make..... I'm sure you (should) know that different animals have different lengths of 'childhood', when they pick up all they can to survive on their own e.g. elephants for 16 years (same as humans), orangutan anywhere between 6-11 years plus frequent visits til about 16, otters about a year depending on type and then usually stay within the wider family unit.
      Now - don't ask silly questions and make yourself look silly instead of your intended target (why would you want to do that anyway?).....

    Marmosets are often used for research on Human Aging and disease,because their bodies are very close to humans.Sometimes kept as pets,but are very difficult to care for.They require a very specific diet,and access to UV light to stay healthy.The cost of a marmoset can be anywhere from $1500.00 to $4000.00.In some states its illegal to have them as pets,and finding a vet that specializes in primate pet care is also difficult .Also you should never get just 1,they will be very lonely. They are social animals that live in groups or small troops made up of 4 to 15 relatives . They can be very territorial.Their life expectancy is 12 yrs

      @Cherokee Heart CT oh, I do so agree! I've said virtually the same thing as you in reply to a post above. Why people think they can just take an animal that should be free and stick it in a cage with a budgie bell, a carrot stick and the TV for company and it will be fine and dandy is just beyond me.

    I live in Brazil (sorry if my English is not perfect) and it's already been probably around 5 years that a marmoset monkey family comes to our house for food. We mostly give them bananas, but they also like papaya. Every year they come with new babies and sometimes we get very anxious when we can't see some of them anymore: did they die? Were they captured to be sold as pets? They weren't born to be pets, they deserve to live free and happy with their families. Very often people kill some of the older ones to be able to capture the babies. Only rescued animals unable to go back to nature should be raised by human beings.

    • @allisons1245
      @allisons1245 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@autisticmonkeyboi6820 you really believe they are in a "comfortable" house with food everyday.
      A lot of them are only fed a bit of food they'd normally eat in the wild to keep them small. They eat foods unnatural to their species and it is bad for their health. Monkeys cannot process sugars, certainly not the amount they are fed in captivity.
      Also, they are not given free range most of the time unless they're outside. They're put in cages right after filming.
      Do you know how monkeys are trained? It's torture. To get them to walk upright, they are trussed up. They are smacked with sticks on the legs....and what of the many monkeys that are constantly sporting bruises?
      Monkeys tear shit up. It's what they do. You cannot let a monkey have free roam of a house because it will pick up everything, bite it, break it. It's classic behavior. Even the best kept monkeys are put into cages after filming.
      You look at some of the monkeys that are cared for here in the US. They are treated beautifully, but, when their time playing with the human is up, they're put into a cage room. Ask yourself why.
      Yes, monkeys that are wild do have it better. They're not being used and are around their own kind.
      Do you think you would be good in a slave like position as long as you are fed and kept in indoor containment?
      Monkeys are intelligent animals. This intelligence turns to aggression in captivity, or self harm. You should read up on it.
      You also must know that these illegal kept monkeys will go into estrus and males will be unruly due to testosterone. Because they are illegal, the owners cannot get them fixed.
      So you tell me. You think they're happier in unnatural. situations when they are animals of instinct? If you do, you're deluded.

    • @autisticmonkeyboi6820
      @autisticmonkeyboi6820 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@allisons1245 you're assuming theu are not fed properly, all you have is bold assumptions.
      I hate that mindset that nature and the wild is some kind of paradise, most likely this monkey would have ended in the stomach of a predator or died from some parasite...
      A human house is infinitely more confortable than the wild for many small species.

    • @allisons1245
      @allisons1245 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@autisticmonkeyboi6820 They are not fed as they'd feed in the wild. They would constantly be foraging and eating the diet for their species. Instead, they're fed baby formula when this animal should be foraging.
      I have ZERO idea where you think anyone one who thinks wild animals that shouldn't be pets, think the wild is "paradise". Of course it isn't. It is filled with danger, that said, it's a life without constant training and correction, and once they're past a certain age, if HUMANS don't kills them, they usually survive.
      These monkeys in captivity end up thrown out, sold as meat or incredibly neurotic.
      They aren't kept for the duration of their lives, so they end up, if they're lucky enough to be thrown out to the mercy of a troupe that doesn't kill them, learning all the things they have to learn to survive with said troupe, quickly, or they are attacked, wounded or killed.
      That is the reality.
      That said, again, I have to stress, in human captivity, they are living in CAGES in a house or outside. You are using the term "comfortable" in and with limited human rationale that is avoiding following the equation our to the bitter end.

    It hurts my heart hearing any of our newborn and baby simian friends crying out for their mothers. They all cry and call out the same way, from these tiny finger puppets to the great apes.. but it’s the monkey babies in particular that truly pull at my heartstrings. People may not know that when baby and small monkeys make that chirp followed by the round mouth ‘ooo’ that they are actually crying. That’s how baby monkeys cry. It’s not so cute when you realise that.

    The babies are cute beyond belief ... but when I see (in the background from ca. 1:00 -1:30) the small, low cages he is keeping his breeding stock in I could cry. Please, be aware that the babies don´t stay babies: they become adults with teeth, territoriality, and a strong need for a social group. They need a room of their own and a good, specialized vet. Don´t be overcome by the cutness and make one of these darlings unhappy ... or dead.

The little creature seemed very comfortable just setting there. Johnny was so good with animals. Thanks again. I'd almost forgotten they existed.

  • @alantaylor353

    It's so cute...
    Until you realise that they're desperately crying for their mothers comfort because they have an overwhelming instinct to cling cling CLING to their mother, like an itch that can never be scratched it torments their tiny minds every second of every day.
    Making sure they never stray from their mother is evolution's way of ensuring they're in the most beneficial environment to learn how to be a monkey.
    The relationships they naturally form with their mothers, siblings & other troop members is critically important to normal development & if that is denied they'll often become neurotic, likely resulting in severe mental health problems leading to stereotypic behaviour on at least some level which means they'll never ever be happy.
    So yeah... Very cute indeed.

      I totally agree and this owner is part of these babies problem. Holding them out like this. The owner is only concerned with selling them, parent Marmasets raise the babies together. Sad for babies being owned.

    • @mrsdahmer8
      @mrsdahmer8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Oh PISH! The same damn thing can be said about hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, even cats and dogs had to be domesticated before people started keeping them as pets! What if they go to someone who DOES carry them around all the time and, give them LOADS of attention and love and affection? Someone who takes VERY good care of them and, takes them to the vet and gets them their shots and makes sure they're healthy? They don't get any sort of medical care in the wild and, MANY of them die young from disease, inclement weather, predators, etc, etc.....
      or, even from losing their moms to one of those things before they're weaned. There's SEVERAL of them, how do you know they AREN'T with their mother/s?!?!? They sure aren't lonely to be with their own species being there's so many of them and, they don't look sickly or malnourished and, there's less chance of them getting lost injured or killed at early ages due to any of those things that happen so frequently in natures scheme of things when they live in the wild!

      Looks like they have siblings right there. Not sure what you're seeing but I count three(3) of them. And also the video clearly shows adults in the background jumping on cages and having a good time. Probably their mother is in the mix back their and happy to have Mr. Human babysitting for a short while. I don't see any discomfort at all, anywhere. Maybe we are not watching the same video..
