  • In this episode I share 3 of my biggest mistakes made in my lifetime (to date) and why. There are lots of different lessons to draw from this, and I hope others don’t make the same mistakes or have the same regrets. This episode is also a self-reflection, a look back at the events that made me who I am today.

Sean...you're an inspiration to a lot of people... "Self reflection" is more like it .. "biggest mistakes" is I think being too hard on yourself. Wishing you a clear path ahead.

I feel you on pets hindering you. I rescue stray cats and dogs, and they've kept me from expanding my horizons. Like you, I love them to death, but they keep me here.
Best thing you've ever done and continue to do is being true to yourself and not compromising your ideals and individuality. I can't remember how I found you on TH-cam, but I'm glad I did because (as I've told you countless times) I'm you in a skirt, and what I wanna do that I can't at the moment, I get to fulfill vicariously through you.
I recently commented on your video where you mentioned depression, and I shared my bit and thanked you for getting me back up. I'm now back to gardening after catching up on your videos, and it has helped a lot, so thank you! Keep on keepin' on, Sean! ❤

Thank youuu. I feel fortunate for many things that happened or experienced.
Immense gratitude too. But I felt like I have not had a lot of impactful decisions/actions that greatly impact people in a meaningful way. I feel my work has just begun and have more to learn as I go.

I came upon your channel while surfing TH-cam and was so taken about your love of plants! While I understand your regrets in life,I also would like to say,if you do not mind, that I am sure you have learned life’s lessons! We all do! There is one episode that you declared about being an atheist. I do not mean to preach, but please, please reconsider the thought that there is a higher power that so love us all unconditionally. I am praying for you right now and it is Holy Week 2023, Our Lord will be nailed on the cross and die for the forgiveness of our sins, but HE WILL BE RESURRECTED! Peace to you my brother. We all have regrets Sean, that’s life, you can’t focus on them. From my perspective you’ve accomplished much more than most people do, starting your own businesses, people dream of doing that, you made it a reality. The fact that your dogs are a burden, they may be a burden but you haven’t thrown them away, or gotten rid of them because they are a burden, some people would. I think you need to find what you love to do and keep doing it, putting all the passion you have, and you have a lot, I can tell by listening to you, into that business. What do you really enjoy doing? Put your all into that business, make it grow, thrive and with your ambition it will be a success!
I also think you have yourself spread to thin, you can’t concentrate on just one of your businesses with so many you have to take care of. Just an old lady’s thoughts. Thank you Sean for letting us have a peak into your life. I sincerely hope that you will find your niche and give it your all. 🌷💚🙃

Oh Sean!! Don't feel sorry for your mistakes, it's only human to make mistakes, you also do a lot of good things too, you are such a positive human being, kind, gentle, and with great potential! As for having Jia and regretting it a bit now, who didn't among us pet owners.. I've a cat and even though it's a very indipendant animal it needs affection, time spending with it, and love. It's hard sometimes specialy if you want to get involved into business with no time for personal life for instance. Thank you for sharing your thoughts deeply appreciate it!

In my opinion, your dogs made you a better person. I started to be more compassionate after we adopted a dog, because I could see that without us, he will be lost. And I always look forward coming home because I know someone will be very happy to see me.

Perhaps one of the things you did right was to follow your heart at the time these decisions were made. I am sure they were well thought out - none of us can see the future. You could have had more regrets if you didn't... You also can identify/admit mistakes you've made and grow from them...And trust me, I know what you mean about pets. I have poured my heart, time and finances to keep them comfortable (missed trips, high vet costs, you name it)... You have done so much right...you have higher ambitions, which is another plus.

I’m from Singapore and moved to NYC in 2003. I’ve always thought I’ll move back after school but life happened and it’s now 20 years, and I’m still here 😅 When you come visit, I’ll be happy to hang. I’ve moved upstate (probably where you used to hike) and own a business here. We are about the same age too. It’s funny how our lives seem to be so similar and yours went one way and mine the other when it came to the fork in the road of life, so to speak.

I would say being able to lived from States to Shanghai both are pretty good experience to start off with; getting to know the people and their way of life, explore new places, and learn about the world around made you who you are. I moved to Shanghai 15 years ago to pursue a career in advertising. Unfortunately, the pandemic has reversed much of my hardwork, so I'm only just returning to Singapore to diverse into ASEAN this year (2023), which ironically I wished I had done sooner. However, I don't see that as a mistake because no one can predict how life will play out.
Therefore, in my opinion, there are no mistakes made; you have had a great life and had great experiences, and u should keep going keep learning get better everyday. Love your plants and creative content work! T.C.

Hi Sean, it is healthy to look back and learn from the past, but one thing I know is that as we get older the flow of our life's direction is not solely cause by our decisions, but rather it is a multi-faceted catalyst. We need to know the right timing, we need to be given an equal opportunity (which is out of our hands), and sometimes a good counsel from older or mature people. I have a dachshund and I love him to the Pluto and back. I wish you all the very best. I appreciate your honesty and braveness. Until your next episode. Thank you.

I absolutely loves dogs. Animals in general. I stop and adore all the pets I see around. So cute!
That’s being said I’m not a huge fan of owning animals. They are expensive and need a lot of attention. If something medically comes up it is almost impossible to afford. Also we can never leave for long. No vacations. I am also allergic to them I have found out. With a job, a teen daughter and a granddaughter that is here on the weekends I don’t have enough of me to go around. I feel so guilty all the time that I can’t give them more of me. Then they die. It’s so sad.
So I totally understand. Just because you regret owning your dogs doesn’t mean you don’t love them. If you didn’t you could have given them up long long ago. You didn’t and you have loved and cared for them. I love my dogs and will care for them the best I can and after they are gone no more pets.

Sean, thank you always for your honesty, I know that you learned so much from your mistakes. I also had a dog and learned that I’m not a dog person because I find dog so demanding and I can’t handle it. Now that my children are independent I decided to get a kitten, I find cat easier.

Your achievement was your entrepreneur spirit from setting up a shop in Shanghai and now with three businesses. As for Gia, you can give her away for someone who can give her more love and attention. Dog for me is a high maintenance pet as you need to walk them everyday, perhaps a cat will do (me Cat person).

Very interesting video. My husband has been begging me for a dog, but we live in a small condo and have a two year old, so I don't feel we're at the right stage in our lives to take on a dog. It wouldn't be fair for the dog. One day, but not now. Thanks for helping me justify my decision 🤗

    • @onlysean1376
      @onlysean1376  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Dogs require a lot of energy and time and money to raise. Must be hard raising a dog along with a 2 year old. Its great to have a kid grow up with a dog though. To witness its life stage and as companion. They do teach us to be wonderful human beings. And at the late stages of their lives they teach us that every moment is precious. Maybe do consider raising a dog if/when the time is right 😀

Why regret and big mistakes, you can always go back to NYC or Shanghai, can't you? Never say never. As you say given the circumstances, the clients in NYC are late in their payments which makes it not sustainable to keep it running and you can't compete with the locals in the China market. Not sure if you keep fighting is going to make a difference. Bills need to be paid, debts are rising, etc and you're not financially independent.
I did wonder how good your spoken English is. What you're doing with your TH-cam channel, you're representing and making Indonesians proud and to demystify any preconceived notions of the country and its people.
