I definitely want to check these out. I currently am wearing the Altra Olympus shoe. I love it because of it's wide to box. I prefer a wide fitting shoe and it really works. But, the Olympus doesn't come in a mid or high top version. Since the price is about the same I will check these Topo shoes out when I need a new pair of shoes.
Great choice! I get them from REI when I have a 20% coupon. Just got my 3rd pair. I've been getting 600-ish miles out of them on the vicious rocks here in PA. Thanks for watching!
@@HikerDudeDad YW.. I've wanted to do some videos myself, but usually end up doing still photography instead. I need to get a newer GoPro or another similar action camera with better stability. Right now I have the GP 5 Black. Have had it for years. I also have a Fuji X-T3 for photography. That usually wins. But, you've made me reconsider doing videos again. I went to REI in KOP and checked out shoes, but at the time I wanted the Olympus and they had none in my size. Ended up getting them at a small shop in Bethlehem, PA.
Hi, I live in Lancaster, Rocksylvania. I see your Lititz pad on the bar. Anyway, looking at this pair for ankle support and wider toe box bc of a bunion. I’ve got Keens and a the sandals are fine but hiking boots are not for me. Keens also are slippery on wet rocks. I have a pair of Xero trail shoes, which I like, but they are too thin when walking in Rockyslvania. Not thrilled w the fuchsia color, but they look promising. REI is heaving a sale so I am thinking it might be good.
Topo Athletic just released the Trailventure 2, the successor to these. Hoping this version goes on super sale soon. You can use the REI 20% coupon this week on the new Trailventure 2s.
Hi, I stumbled across your video searching for comfortable hiking shoes. I'm going to the Grand Canyon for the first time and looking for a comfortable pair of hiking boots. I was wondering if you bought the WP version, and if yes how would you compare. I also, have foot issues. A painful bunion, so wondering if shoe would be a good fit for me. Thanks again for the review. Will be watching your other videos.
Hello! I do have the WP version as well, but you won't need WP for the Grand Canyon. Frankly, these have drain vents and they dry so quickly, I rarely wear my WP ones (usually only in snow). The best part of these is the wide toe box, so depending on where your bunion is, they might help. Applying Foot Glide might help as well, along with merino socks. Thanks for watching!
Thx for the review. It's hard for me to find shoes. I have wide and flat feet and I'm disappointed that alot of high end manufacturers don't make wide sizes. That look like a great fit
The struggle is real. I was having toe pain all the time, and now it's rare. I have like 6 pair of Topos now, it's all I wear. I just got a pair of Trailventure 2.0s so I'll wear them a bit and do another review. Thanks for watching!
@@gillera8 I like them a lot less.... They just sit around, meanwhile I bought 3 pair of these when I knew they got discontinued. They made some improvements for support, but I feel like it made them less comfortable (for my weird feet) and more rigid.
hello friend, you said you are size 13 on this Topo, were you also size 13 on the Solomon? I asked because I own a pair of Solomon size 9, and I want to buy this Topo Trailrunner, but I live outside of USA and I have to buy Online and ship to my country.
so nice shoes and bought them and walk for a lot km in "Dolomiti" Alps, so confortable and perfect. No footache, it seem you are walking barefoot but without problems of doing it in mountain.
I started zero drop with lone peak 3 and pair early Topo s zero drop both shoes didn’t last long but my foot health improved just ordered two new pairs of topo’s on sale in uk I’m hooked so is my 83 year old Mum love her altra provision 6 only got one pair non zero drop and they’re my alpine stars mx boots beware of new altras they toe box is getting smaller bad Nike
I still love my Topo TrailVentures... I'm on my 3rd pair. I've recently discovered Xero shoes as well for wide box, zero drop, barefoot feel shoes. Thanks for watching!
Have you tried toe spacers? Like Zen toes. You can cut the rest of the spacers off.
I have, but they feel weird and rub different spots. FWIW I can't wear thong flip flops either, only slides.

Yes, I am a consistent 13 all across the board, every shoe. They felt the same as far as length, but the Topos have that wider toe box. Enjoy!

I agree so much! Had some tough miles yesterday, but no foot problems today. They are a miracle!
Great review! 9:07 You know what they say about big feet? They're better for crushing lanternflies. 😂
topo is also spanish for mole.
