Graffiti really is so unnecessary and destructive. Really makes angry when I see it in nature. It's flat out vandalism. Love cider....pear is my favorite. Fun adventure! Thanks for taking us along.
@@charliejg graffiti is the bane of my existence. Nature rocks on its own!
Very nice, thanks for sharing
@@grillinandchillinwithdeb thanks for watching, Deb!
This looks nice to be able to hike and then explore that little village.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily I do love it when there's an easy place to get a delicious reward when a hike is over!
Why do you say you never expected to see this type of geological formation in PA? Just curious.
❤😮😊wow beautiful! 🎉❤thanks.
Used to love exploring this cave when we were younger - always wondered what it was like out on the lake! Great video!
Great video! I’ve never thought to kayak in there ! Thanks for sharing!!

@@quietjohnoutandabout6578 perfectly applicable here and at Tytoona!

Pretty wild cool video 👍
Nice cave. Looked like an interesting but fun time.
That stream is beautiful!
Come to the caves in Akron NY! You’re not really supposed to, but I can tell ya how to get there 😉😄
Interesting place... I've been to the entrance, but never inside. Thanks for taking us along!
@@charliejg the entrance doesn't look like much, and I'm sure I've seen similar impressions and passed them by. I was amazed at how it opened up from such a meager opening.
When I was a kid living in the mountains of Georgia, the TVA and the Army Corps of Engineers teamed to dam the Coosawatee River, eventually inundating a vast, uninhabited gorge that could have been one of the largest wilderness areas in the eastern US. No one proposed that, of course, and so the forests, waterfalls, and river are now drowned under 400 feet of water by Carters Lake.
@@JamesRobertSmith Awful.... Here in PA there are tens, maybe hundreds of lakes formed that way. Almost every state park has a dammed up lake for "recreation and flood control".
That has to be the most unique spot anyone has ever gone with a folding kayak. Really neat to see that footage.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily I couldn't have done it without my highly-portable folding kayak! I'm sure people drag regular kayaks in, but I would not have wanted to, lol. Right before I hopped in, I noticed a sharp piece of slate sticking up vertically, which might have sunk my battleship, but I moved it.
It looked like an exciting and unique formation until I realized it's just the remnant of a despoiled (and likely) toxic industrial site. Before machinery arrived to gouge out the surrounding formation, it was utterly invisible. I assume the water in those ponds must be poisonous since I saw no sign of fish or insects. An unearthed escapment. It's like getting excited by a deep road cut through the rock along a highway. I guess it's interesting if you're into exploring abandoned coal mines.
@@JamesRobertSmith excellent points all around. The Whaleback anticline and the syncline at the east end were buried at one point. PA was originally 98% forest. Lumbering and coal mining over 300 years have absolutely spoiled that. But you do with what our ancestors left us, eh? What keeps me from getting too upset about this site is that geology students from all over take field trips here to learn about these formations that they might otherwise never see.

I cannot believe this is in Delaware. Definitely reminds me of the Louisiana bayou. What a cool place to explore!
@@travelingRonman I knew Delaware had some secret treasures, but this one absolutely blew me away!
I remember seeing the casts of the bodies in Nat Geo way back and appreciate the closeups that you shot for us. I always wonder about the thoughts and fears that went through the minds of the people as it was happening. It's just frightening to think of. Thanks for sharing!
Incredible natural feat for such trees to be surviving underwater! 🤘

@@gracegarden1 thanks Carol! It is a beautifully unusual place.
Looked like an epic spot, you’re absolutely right about us being so lucky having all of these natural resources available to us WV included as well! Those green waters looked so cool how they turned out in your video, gotta love those trees.
@@MaksimOutdoors so I hear, but I don't have any WV experience... I'll have to change that!
Small world! My newly married son’s parents-in-law are living the RV life at Trap Pond and my mother lives mere minutes from where you were. I’m from the area, generally speaking, and there’s a reason they call it “Slower Lower Delaware”. Beautiful places to explore.
@@lori416 that sounds like the life. I'm glad you got into my Delaware series!
😮wow ryan so cool. Thr cypress trees. Blue sky. And green water!!!😊🎉❤❤❤❤
@@debbiehills2928 I didn't even have to filter the colors... They're real!
Thanks for the shout out. So glad you got to kayak here. It's such a unique place with all those cypress trees. I also liked all the neat camera angles you get while kayaking. Did you create a mount on your folding kayak?
@@hikingoutdoorfamily getting the right mounts on that thing has been a challenge, to say the least. I have gone through several iterations, but I think I have it locked in now. I use helmet clips (but the flat ones) on the bottom of the boat. I clip in a gooseneck in front of me for the GoPro. Behind me I clip a selfie stick in with the Insta360. It usually lays at a 45° angle but I can lock it in higher.
@@HikerDudeDad That sounds way better than what I am doing. I prop a tripod in the kayak to film and it's not a great solution.
I’m pretty sure you got pinched because the crab was trying to hit like and subscribe 😂. Do you need a permit to crab n Delaware? Was the trap a rental ?
@@kevind5396 Ha! Be a crab! Like and subscribe! Nice.... You do need a $12 permit (used to be $7, thought we wouldn't notice), for which I've never been asked. Trap is mine, I think they were $14 from Dick's last summer.
Great day very enjoyable Thanks
This is again a very nice video of you. It was very interesting to watch. Many greetings 😀
@@JGucka thank you, Gucka!
I love how you put the camera underwater with the trap, so neat! My kids and I tried crabbing here in August and did not have good results. We do the best off a bridge near Lewes and that seems to be the best spot down here for crabbing. If you are ever interested in clamming, holts landing is amazing for that. Cute to see that baby deer.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily what's involved in clamming? Digging them up? I'll try anything 👍
Hmmm, we have traps like that in the cellar somewhere, haven't used them in over 30 years. With the price of crabs now I think I'll dig them out and take a trip to Delaware. I loved seeing what's going on underwater.
