Bruh selling you a replacable module isnt fixing the problem, it's just replacing the problem with another thing that will become a problem indefinitely. A FIX would be to include HALL SENSOR-BASED JOYSTICKS.

Ps2 controllers were programmed to autocorrect stick drift, so controllers lasted much much longer.
So THATS why I never had to replace my ps2 controller.
I did have to replace only a couple but that’s just because the mech that does that does wear down and get gummed up

For $200 it should come with hal-sensor joysticks that never drift and an extra pair of joysticks in the box just in case

@@itsporter Guli is supposedly getting close. They are focusing on building those little replacements for pro controllers first and then offering a PS5 option. They want to do it without requiring soldering which I don’t know how they could do that.
The Nintendo switch ones work great and I have Hal sensor Nyxi controller.

It's definitely on purpose. Hall effect joysticks would've worked great on a Pro Controller because of the increased precision and no drift but then no one would have to buy replacements so less money for the fatcats at Sony :(
We've had non drift tech in hal sensors for more than 30 yrs. They just dont care to implanent it

Stick drift is pretty much an unavoidable problem. They are making it cheaper for you to fix.

Because anything from 8bit all the way up to current day controllers are all susceptible to breaking and degrading overtime. Sony will definitely make the analogue sticks cheaper to suffer from stick drift now. They'll see this as a big money advantage. Hey let's purposely make our switchable analogue sticks suffer from drift so that the consumer will have to replace them every few months money money money.
And that is why I will wait for GuliKit's Hall sensing modules for Dualsense Edge, like they did for Nintendo Switch JoyCons and Steam Deck Stick modules

@@Frostvul easy, don't use shitty gimbals that the ps5 controllers use. use a hall sensor. they're much more accurate and dont develop stick drift. almost every expensive drone radio uses hall sensors cause you don't want stick drift while using a drone. Sony just wants to make profit off of you

Those thumbstick replacements cost $20 each, while I paid $15 to get my normal dualsense fixed last time LOL
What they don't tell you is that you can also manually adjust the dead zones to deal with drift as well. I also have this controller. Dropped it and it got a slight drift. I unplugged the joystick, put it back in, and haven't had drift since. Don't necessarily have to buy a whole new module.

It depends on what you play, if you play for example fortnite, then you will get a stick Drift quickly because you use it very often.
My brother plays only story games and after 6 years his controller hasn't stick Drift, I'm playing fortnite and cod and needed 2 new controllers because of the stick Drift
@@gegamed681 no that's not the case. competitive games like fortnite have a small deadzone by default cause you need to make small adjustments when you're aiming. story mode games use a bigger deadzone cause accuracy isn't really needed in story mode games, plus you can always restart the game

So they are aware of the fault, instead of fixing the problem so it doesn't happen, they add a repair as a feature and charge you for it.
They can add tech to stop stick drift but instead they make it so when it gets drift you buy more. Wow such a good pro controller

@@i.d.6492 Depends on the game. If you play casually and don't spend that long gaming, about 5-7 months but if you play something that requires a lot of joystick movement then it'll start drifting in 3-4 months.
You can buy 3 ps5 controllers for the price of a pro model that's 6 joysticks and years of not having a stick drift🤣

I'm far from a big corporation appologist, but exactly how would this be fixed? It's a small moving part that gets tons of wear and tear. It's not going to last forever.

These companies need to find a balance to satisfy light and heavy users. They need to find that price-point + build quality that will yield the greatest number of sales worldwide.
Most consumers are not heavy users. They aren't going to purchase a system if additional controllers run $150 USD because 25% of users are wearing out analog sticks within a year or two.
If you can git gud at gaming, git gud at soldering skills. That's what I did, at least.

Good business, they make a controller like the usual ones for the price of a console and sell it as easy to repair instead of making a controller with electromagnetic joysticks that don't break and are more precise. Finally, marketing

Only problem now is that all the stick modules are either out of stock, or being sold for outrageous prices on Amazon or by scalpers.
You shouldn't need to pay nearly the price of a regular PS5 controllee to get a single stick replacement.

Especially since they have all the power in the world to put hall effect joysticks in their controllers and get rid of drift for good. It's not even that expensive and even if they don't put it in their regular controllers, put it in their so called "Pro Controllers" at least. This has already happened to me, drift on left joystick on pro controller.
Luckily I sent off just the module by itself. Within a week I got the module back- but unsure if it was repaired or replaced.

Only reason why I bought 2 of these. BEST CONTROLLERS EVER. U can adjust the R&L2 buttons to make em mouse like clicks and without losing your adaptive feels and u can make as much profiles for the back peddles.

I've had the PS5 since launch and only bought a extra controller so I never have to worry about charging it while playing. I've never had a single issue with either controller
With the same price I'd rather buy 3 regular controllers, which is more than enough to last ps5 entire lifespan than just getting 1 "pro" controller. The features are cool but nothing really a game changer for me personally

Well, then you might be in the minority as this is an issue. I'm in the minority with the Nintendo Switch as I've had it since launch and have yet to experience any drift issues. Both my brothers has had plenty. My PS5 is still pretty new so no issues yet. One of my brother's PS5 controller was so bad it rendered the games unplayable. His Xbox Series X has yet to experience any issues but, he plays way more on the PS5.

I've soldered on 2 new dualsense joysticks in 12 months for one controller.
I have an old wired xbox 360 controller I used for over 15 years before upgrading, at least it still gets used whilst the dualsense is out of action.
Very nice now we see price part and full new controller.
F*** that just buy a $40 solder machine and fix the goddamn stick instead of paying $200+ $20sticks.

Just another way for them to keep making money off of broken joystick. The permanent fix already exists, magnet-based joysticks have already proven to be drift-proof, but these companies refuse to let up anything that boosts profits.

This doesn't apply to all stick drift cases, but people don't take care of their shit
PS4 controller are notorious for drift, PS3 can have drift after many more years. With PS3 controller, you will encounter random button press before drift. The random button press is caused by the ribbon cable loose connection to board. I just use an electric tape for padding when the rubber one give out

There will be stick drift, however it is very easy to fix and costs a third of the regular controllers. Bloody lovely. I say a third because I have never had both joysticks with stick drift at one time before but you’ll still save money overtime with it kinda sick

At least these modules make it easier to get to the faulty components of the stick, there's just some screws. You can often fix drift by cleaning the potentiometers.

I’ve literally never gotten stick drift on any controller ever. Closest was when the stick on my n64 controllers broke because my brother has anger management issues. I genuinely don’t see what all the fuss is about with this, either I’m incredibly lucky to not have to deal with a problem that’s apparently so widespread and prevalent for everyone else, or it’s an overblown mountain out of a molehill problem that also doesn’t exist under normal circumstances for most everyone else either
