    I'm thinking on building one with cardboard, tooth pics and a bit of paint.

    That's awesome. Always wanted a Geordi visor as a kid.

    I always thought it was a banana clip for your hair that they spray painted and turned sideways LOL 😂

    Oggie, your visor turned out great!
    I have the all plastic version of the droidboy visor kit. Kinda wish I would have forked over the extra cash and got the metal one!! I can always build another one!! =)

      Hey thanks my friend! I'm happy I chose this one. Send me a pic of your plastic version if you get a chance.

    Here's an interesting idea, Try to alter a couple of Banana Clips to fit your face and tweak accordingly, That's basically what the First Season VISOR was, a Banana Clip remanufactured to fit LeVar Burton's face.

      Watching the series for the first time, and I have NOT been able to get over how it is just a banana clip spray painted with stuff glued to it.

    Needs more metal rods.

    Sadly the spacing on the rods is off and is quite noticeable.

    This is a really cool prop, and a very well done build up. I love that motivated fans make kits like these for the rest of us to enjoy :D Did you get it signed?

      I read in a.Starlog book in the 90's that the Geordi V.I.S.O.R. was modeled after a popular style hair clip girls wore in the early 1980's. The hair clip opened up and once fastened would hold a girls hair in place. By itself the clip looked almost like the V.I.S.O.R..
      Nice model.

      @@johnbockelie3899 yeh the vsior was acthuly dropped post starvtrek genrtions as levar burton hsted wearing the prop for such a lomb time

    • @johnbockelie3899
      @johnbockelie3899 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zacharyjochumsen9677 also, in the movie Generations, it was easy for the Klingons to use Geordi's visor as a spy camera in order to destroy the Enterprise D. So, afterwards Star Fleet had him get optical implants to replace the visor so things like that can not happen again.
      But I can also see why Lever Burton hated that prop. He said it gave him limited vision on the set , and after a few hours it was very uncomfortable to wear.

    I'am guessing brass is a heavy metal right. Ok for display but not to wear. The real one used on the set would have been pretty light.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Carmody yeah it is wearable just wouldn't be comfortable to do so for a long period. It's a decent replica although I agree it could use more vertical brass rods. Thanks for watching

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that here are a couple of different versions. This particular one is the more expensive kit running $100.00. I think he makes one in which the frame is plastic instead of metal which runs less $$ but you really need to contact him to find out. I thought his visor was gold

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      no...if you look closely the visor body is chrome/silver and the rods are gold/brass. Unfortunately this model isn't exact....it could use more rods for sure.

  • @omikronweapon
    @omikronweapon 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The spacing on the rods isn't even close to the actual prop. There also seems to be some sort of mesh that goes behind them.
    vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/images/1/15/VISOR%2C_2365-2371.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130116023250&path-prefix=en
    This obviously isn't the fault of Interstellar Modeler, but as far as the kit is concerned, I'm not impressed. It looks like because of the spacing slots already there you might not even be able to fit more in, in such as way that would make it match after all
    On a detailed note, I personally prefer the alternating up-and-down-rods-style visor, but that's just me. Also, I seem to recall a silver coloured one, it might be cool to have all three versions :P

    • @DelcoRanz93
      @DelcoRanz93 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +OmikronWeapon The Spacing was probably altered in case it were to be used for Cosplay, LeVar Burton lost 90% of his vision when he wore the prop. And you are right about the All Silver version of the VISOR, that appeared in a flashback scenario in the Episode "Identity Crisis" when Geordi was an Ensign on the U.S.S. Victory, also where the circle shapes normally are there were silver rectangles instead.
