I've been comparing the Oasis with the Colorsoft and honestly...the Oasis just feels and looks so much better. I am returning the Colorsoft for the 2024 Paperwhite to see how it compares to the Oasis.
There is a dark mode on the ColorSoft. It’s called PAGE COLOR. Located at the bottom underneath color style. It’s funny because he was on the right editing page, but he never saw the option.
It's not a dark mode. It just makes the background theme a bit darker. Plus, it's not true black, either. The Colorsoft doesn't have an actual dark mode like the regular Kindle lineup offers.
@@rickyjmoldez It's still not actually dark, though. It doesn't affect the text or get anywhere near as dark, so it still emits much more light than the other Kindles. It's better than nothing. But it's just not a real dark mode.
Paperwhite for books, iPad for comics/cookbooks. Problem solved. This is what I do and it works just fine for my use case. Thank you for the very informative video.
I have the iPad as well and the brand new Colorsoft, until you try the Colorsoft you shouldn't make a determination like you are doing now. The Colorsoft is a lot lighter to hold than the iPad and it is much more easy on the eyes. The Battery Life is far Superior. iPads are absolutely Horrible for reading on I know I have bought 7 or more different iPads and just as many iPhones. When I have talked with people who claim to be Avid iPad E-book readers I have discovered that they only read 3 times a week for an average of 20 minutes at a time. I wouldn't call them Avid Readers. I know why they stop reading after 20 minutes because reading on an iPad causes headaches. My iPhones / iPads are Great for watching Video and web surfing 🌊 and social media but they are horrible for reading on.
@sheet-music I own the Colorsoft and I would disagree with that as do Numerous Colorsoft Reviews. Excuse me You Do Read Comic Books and Cookbooks!!!! Try checking out Many of the Numerous Colorsoft Reviews that Specifically Highlight how Good it is for Comic Books and for Reading. Seriously People have been Begging for Amazon to come out with a Color E-book Reader and people who don't even own one are so Quick to complain about the Colorsoft which by the way is Better than the Kobo Color models. iPads are absolutely Horrible for Your eyes when you are trying to read Books on for longer than 20 minutes or so. I have always gotten bad headaches trying to read for long on mine. I happen to have 2 iPads.
The thing that people treat an ebook reader today just like a LCD phone or tablet with the light on all the time just makes me sad. They forget that the core value of an e-ink screen that it represent paper (which has no light on its own) and battery last forever. Now with these color e-ink screen that has worse contrast and has to use the light all the time It doesn't look like paper anymore and reduce battery life by a lot. So I stay with b&w for now until the technology getting better
My iPad mini has great vibrant color. With a mat screen protector it provides no glare reading also bigger reading area. I only use it for art books and comics, otherwise, the 12th edition signature is my go to for reading.
I don't see how e-ink could evolve to be as vibrant as LED. If you wait for vibrancy, you wait in vain. I think Colorsoft is still for non-fiction book. Color formatting makes books easier and funnier to read, or if you have a chart with 10 sections, it is valuable to have all 10 colors visible. But the fact that the reading is less comfortable than with Paperwhite is off-putting from buying. I don't really need this chart, I prefer contrast.
I just have the basic older kindle and like reading in the bath. I didn’t know it wasn’t water proof and the steam caused water damage 😢. I might have to look into getting a water proof one. I don’t think I want to spend extra money on the color tho based off this review. I don’t think the extra money is worth it for just color 😊
@3:16 they both look B/W... :( It looks nowhere near as vibrant as Amazon's promotional images. (especially the one they use that shows the bookcover for "Hello Beautiful")
Mine has it and honestly the contrast is better on my Paperwhite. I'm going to return the Colorsoft - it's not ready for Prime Time. I only wanted it for Color.
@decidocisum It's even more than that. It doesn't darken everything like a dark mode does. On the Colorsoft, it only darkens the background a bit, but everything else, like menus and more, doesn't darken at all. The Colorsoft is still bright for night reading.
Use the page colour option which is dark mode. To base so much of a review on dark mode not being available seems like an epic miss given the option is clearly in your video at times.
The page color option isn't in dark mode. It just changes the background theme to a darkish gray. It's not a real dark mode like the other Kindles have.
I just got mine yesterday, I love it. I liked my Oasis, but I wanted color.

There is a dark mode when you're reading a book, however it doesn't apply in the menu/home screen/library pages.

Agreed. No problem reading at night with the dark setting.
Just pick dark colour in the colour options for dark mode on the Colorsoft!

Is the colorsoft not available in Canada?
I love my Paperwhite and don't feel the need to change. Great review!
Color soft is the future
No,not until they can make those colours pop.

can you enable dark mode?
No dark mode but you can make bookpages black.
Can you please share the name of the ebook you demonstrating in this video. It mentions Warren Buffett, John Urschel and Kawhi Leonard. Thank you!

this is seemingly quite a common problem. How did this get through QA?
@@ConradMurkitt That's a good question. It's "almost" ready for production BUT, at almost $300 it should be flawless and it simply isn't.
@@1myjet1 agreed. At that price point is should be perfect.
@@1myjet1 My Colorsoft works as Advertised it doesn't have any issues with it. I love it 😊
Is there no dark mode on the color soft?
Watch the video, but yes.. he uses it in the video
Watch the video, he uses dark mode on the paperwhite NOT the colorsoft @skadoss
Colorsoft does not have a dark mode option. It just has a page color mode that makes the background grayish-dark. It's not at all a dark mode, though.
@@GalaxyFurit is the same thing technically, it’s not magic. It looks less dark because colorsoft is using more front light.

I am trying to get a book I got on amazon a while go it was forty days is all I can recall can anyone help me it was about praying
Backlight? 🙄 No, it won't have a powerful backlight, because it has no backlight at all.
I want to spend money, that’s why I have them all.
Nice
