I am a singaporean. I am in bangkok and the thai food I like is "pad Ka prao" (Fried basil leaves with rice)
Perfect lesson from Kruu Wee on the central verb of all languages! Thai has three important forms for the verb "to be", but with adjectives you don't need them at all.
Orrawee is very good at explaining the differences in the meanings of time, being, and place between Thai and Western languages. I'm thinking if I understand those three differences, then I will understand Thai, and much of the culture of Thailand.

How do you not confuse the thai words for want (ya) and don't (ya) as they are pronounced much the same but mean the opposite?

Hi Kruu Wee, could explain any pronunciation difference between yaa "don't" and yaa "want" please
I will do that for you. You pronounce yaa ( don't ) as 'yaa' and pronounce yaa ( want) as ' yaa'. Or if you were to use the english, you can pronounce 'don't' as 'don't' and 'want', you pronounce 'want'.

Sorry. We need the written phonetic English of these words. So for every phrase we need the Thai spelling, the phonetic version and the English translation. I know it's a lot of trouble, but just speaking the words is not enough.
