Thank you for coming to HKG & letting the world know that we still have our special local food!! It's alright to empty pockets in singapore cuz they produce quality and top notch asian delicacies. The people are very kind and friendly too! Worth revisiting because of how diverse the asian food they serve there. However, In hk most of them are rude and give you stink eye. Then serve you with the most mid-tasting asian cuisine. You can't even eat in peace. You will get side comments and insults outta no where. Doesn't matter if u are white, black, or brown. If you do not look asian enough for them you get judged from head to toe. It's ironic that the ones who treat you good are not even locals but workers that work there from other countries.
I just absolutely love this channel! Sonny not only are you a fantastically entertaining and educational host ,your co- hosts are so likable and fun! I end up following most of them as well!
This video is like a culinary adventure that's making my mouth water. The way he explores the street food scene in Hong Kong is so captivating. I can practically taste the flavors through the screen! 🍜🥢
As someone who absolutely loves Asian cuisines in general and specifically Chinese cuisine - these videos are awesome. It's a shame the street food scene in Hong Kong is dying out, from what I understand when China took over control from the UK, they didn't change rules about street vendors much until quite recently it seems. Such a shame to see so many great stalls go away, but it's good seeing there are still some top-notch spots for the people to enjoy. All that being said, the last time I was in China was around 2003 or so, and I also went to Hong Kong for a couple of days. I'll just say this as a fan of Chinese food in general - that might have been the best 5 days of food I've ever had save for having Texas BBQ and pastrami at Katz's Deli in NYC (where I grew up after all). There are few words that can describe how good real deal Chinese dishes can be. Chicken or Beef chow fun is my absolute favorite food in the world, and actually eating it in a restaurant that specializes in Cantonese food and chow fun etc. was mind blowing. I'll never forget how good it was (and it was super cheap also back then). So yeah, videos like this just remind me of those days, how good the food can be there (though you do have to be careful lol) and how awesome it is Sonny and people like him get to travel around and eat this amazing food. Sorry for the giant wall of text and my stupid ramblings about years gone by.
It's true that due to health regulations a lot of DPD's have disappeared, but there's also a lot of them that have moved indoors into the upstairs Cooked Foods floors at wet markets/civic halls (sometimes those include indoor sports centers and public libraries). like Bowrington street wet market from last video's cart noodles, or Electric Road Municipal Services Building where there's Fu Bo Seafood. I wanted to say Tung Po but they moved from Java Road Wet Market to some 2/F of commercial building in Wanchai.
Wow can’t believe you’re visiting Hong Kong! Really enjoy your videos and wondered when you’d enjoy our local food. Welcome! Really hope you’re having a great time here. 👍
Haha looks like my other message is gone? Anyway I am sure you already done a ton of research but I highly recommend Sing Kee Seafood Restaurant. One of the best seafood places I’ve been to. They are always full though so just in case you couldn’t get a table, feel free to try any near seafood restaurant around the area. They usually never disappoint. Anyway just my two cents. 👍
When you were summing up the prices at the end it sounded like you're on speed or I am slow. I had to listen to it twice to make sure my phone wasn't on fast mode
So for the 1st stall, pretty sure the protein in the egg is New Zealand corned beef. It's a fairly common omelette in HK. It is nothing like the corned beef in America.
so happy to see u in HK! love the sharing you are doing around the City, i think aside from the local HK food, it would be interesting to actually try taste some non-local food and give your opinion, as u know, HK is full of cuisines from around the world! Could compare if they are fusion or authentic haha! i recommnad trying my fav HK snack - cold noodles ! they come in little packets and choose ur toppings! and scause! yum yum
Everyone in Hong Kong also looks like they are involved with organized crime or are actors in a kung fu movie where they play someone involved in organized crime. I mean that in the most flattering way.
That's because they are. Those dai pai dong's have to pay protection money to triads. Each area in the cities are controlled by triads. They are everywhere.

I think I have seen the first location on Korean show return of Superman when Park Jooho ( soccer player) took his half asian/ Caucasian kids out for breakfast in Hong Kong.
From all of Sonnys videos weve seen places from India to Vietnam that claim to be open 50+ years... Yet nobody considered to maybe clean the place once 😅
I love to live vicariously through your many food adventures, and it's amazing to watch you share so many foods from various cultures! Thank you for repping Hong Kong where my family is from! Yep, saw her on this channel 4 years ago.
Virginia was AWESOME! Also, the 1st spot looked AMAZING!
Bc it was barely Hong Kong street food idek what that was
Your culinary event is very interesting...and your food choices are appetizing🎉😊
Shes definatly cute and adds to the episodes. Good job editors , we all know you make the show more perfect.
si senor. but sonny always finds cute guests. the half Canadian girl was super cute too and funny.
What? She looks like she has an extra chromosome, and should be competing in the special olympics.

The phone! Probably lighting makes a different too
Much respect to those people working so hard and fast to prepare food. Those are tough jobs.
Jimmy O Yang’s description of a Chinese chef was pretty accurate lol

for the salted egg york shrimp, actually you dont need to peel the skin off, we normally eat the whole thing, its crispy and tasty

I love it how the man is cooking with his singlet 😅 classic Asian love it! #proud2beasian ❤
Good to see her again ! I follow her but it’s been awhile. Personally I thought the last place was a little expensive for street food

In East Malaysia, we love Chinese food. Very delicious and satisfying.
Nice sneaky Aladdin reference thrown in there
To be fair, a bunch of shops say at Jardine's Bazaar are basically serving street food - its just a basic shop coverage on it.
I don't like that Virginia is not eating with you. I'm used to your tour guides eating with you
yeah that was odd
Sonny said she is an oficial tour guide. There might be rules about eating with the tour guests.

Hong Kong street food, hard to go wrong with that!
