Hong Kong and Singapore never fails in emptying your pockets 😂
Prices are kinda 3 times higher than they should be..😅
ehh imagine living thr... its a nightmare (exprienced firsthand..)
@@etnamecul cost of living is also at least 3 times higher than many closeby countries.
It's alright to empty pockets in singapore cuz they produce quality and top notch asian delicacies. The people are very kind and friendly too! Worth revisiting because of how diverse the asian food they serve there.
However, In hk most of them are rude and give you stink eye. Then serve you with the most mid-tasting asian cuisine. You can't even eat in peace. You will get side comments and insults outta no where. Doesn't matter if u are white, black, or brown. If you do not look asian enough for them you get judged from head to toe. It's ironic that the ones who treat you good are not even locals but workers that work there from other countries.
not like Las Vegas !!
I like how sonny reports the cooking like a hockey match
My uncle used to smoke and cook at the same time and he said cigarette ashes are just Navy pepper😂
"Navy pepper"
Thank you for the new vocabulary
:D
My grand pa said it too hahaha
nice
"It'll put some hair on your chest" 😂😂
"Shining, shimmering, splendid..." I love it when Sonny quotes Disney princess movies 😆
love this series
Thank you for coming to HKG & letting the world know that we still have our special local food!! Unfortunately while we appreciating the Dai Pai Dong, the government stopped issuing new Dai Pai Dong Licenses. Moreover, some of the locations need to be rebuilt to deluxe housing or office buildings! that’s why you said it only a few remaining…..
I scrolled through the comments to find an answer as it made me curious why they were dying off and you kind of answered my question. I'm still curious, why did the government stop issuing licenses? Because they want to develop the land or....?
@@cydonia3167 Development for rich is one big reason ( u know HK basically don't have enough land) but the other is the hygiene and health issues that come with these, as delicious as they may seem, the environment as you can see its outdoors, so you can imagine the hygiene issue (there is no way u will walk out without seeing a roach or mouse there...) One more reason is the security risk, these tai bai tong tend to be a place for the triad society to mingle, especially at night. They are just my subjective and from experience opinion, the major comes back down to development so
Sonny is the man...been watching for years and still going strong. Keep it up bro
Absolutely amazing entertainment, great energy and always hilarious with your videos, down to earth individual 💙💙
Your culinary event is very interesting...and your food choices are appetizing🎉😊
The first kitchen could use a little cleaning. There is old grease and other things dripping onto plates with food
I don't like that Virginia is not eating with you. I'm used to your tour guides eating with you
yeah that was odd
Sonny said she is an oficial tour guide. There might be rules about eating with the tour guests.
@@oldnoob1917What rules? 😂😂 you can’t be serious
sewer oil
She didn’t like how filthy the food places are 😂
Shes definatly cute and adds to the episodes. Good job editors , we all know you make the show more perfect.
si senor. but sonny always finds cute guests. the half Canadian girl was super cute too and funny.
What? She looks like she has an extra chromosome, and should be competing in the special olympics.
What? She looks like she has an extra chromosome!
What? She looks like she should be competing in the special olympics!
He often has cute guests but she's not one of them.
I just absolutely love this channel! Sonny not only are you a fantastically entertaining and educational host ,your co- hosts are so likable and fun! I end up following most of them as well!
Finally back in HK!!! Waited since 2019 for since😍
Jimmy O Yang’s description of a Chinese chef was pretty accurate lol
This video is like a culinary adventure that's making my mouth water. The way he explores the street food scene in Hong Kong is so captivating. I can practically taste the flavors through the screen! 🍜🥢
Love these no frills food. Absolutely delicious
Virginia was AWESOME! Also, the 1st spot looked AMAZING!
Bc it was barely Hong Kong street food idek what that was
I love Hong Kong 🇭🇰 such a unique
Place with amazing beaches and nature as well as city 😊
Love Virginia! I subscribed to her today ! Sonny has the most amazing co-hosts! The most amazingly side kick is Oro!
Her channel name?
Love watching this while eating mcdonaldsn
I really enjoy watching your videos
lol this is like trying to hit $100 on food trucks in NYC, this is too easy
Sonny, you are so funny. You crack me up on every episode. I love watching your videos. Thanks.
so happy to see u in HK! love the sharing you are doing around the City, i think aside from the local HK food, it would be interesting to actually try taste some non-local food and give your opinion, as u know, HK is full of cuisines from around the world! Could compare if they are fusion or authentic haha! i recommnad trying my fav HK snack - cold noodles ! they come in little packets and choose ur toppings! and scause! yum yum
New camera? Didn't watch your videos for some time, but this is looking goood!
The phone! Probably lighting makes a different too
Sonny you've great sense of humor 😂😂
When you were summing up the prices at the end it sounded like you're on speed or I am slow. I had to listen to it twice to make sure my phone wasn't on fast mode
Been following both you and Virginia since god knows when, glad you guys were able to collaborate!
Their first collaboration was 4 years ago.
Wow can’t believe you’re visiting Hong Kong! Really enjoy your videos and wondered when you’d enjoy our local food. Welcome! Really hope you’re having a great time here. 👍
Haha looks like my other message is gone?
Anyway I am sure you already done a ton of research but I highly recommend Sing Kee Seafood Restaurant. One of the best seafood places I’ve been to. They are always full though so just in case you couldn’t get a table, feel free to try any near seafood restaurant around the area. They usually never disappoint.
Anyway just my two cents. 👍
$100 is not really enough in HK
yeh he barely ain't anything , do they have a higher salary there than other asian contries? looked overpriced
@@dio1018I live in the UK, and I’d say HK has higher salary than the UK
@@dio1018they have higher salary level but at the same time house price and living cost are crazy high there
@@norrieh HK living condition is sh*t, but yeah, UK salary is pretty low in developed country
Hong Kong street food, hard to go wrong with that!
Good to see her again ! I follow her but it’s been awhile. Personally I thought the last place was a little expensive for street food
Coming back to HK in October can’t wait miss it so much
As someone who absolutely loves Asian cuisines in general and specifically Chinese cuisine - these videos are awesome. It's a shame the street food scene in Hong Kong is dying out, from what I understand when China took over control from the UK, they didn't change rules about street vendors much until quite recently it seems. Such a shame to see so many great stalls go away, but it's good seeing there are still some top-notch spots for the people to enjoy. All that being said, the last time I was in China was around 2003 or so, and I also went to Hong Kong for a couple of days. I'll just say this as a fan of Chinese food in general - that might have been the best 5 days of food I've ever had save for having Texas BBQ and pastrami at Katz's Deli in NYC (where I grew up after all). There are few words that can describe how good real deal Chinese dishes can be. Chicken or Beef chow fun is my absolute favorite food in the world, and actually eating it in a restaurant that specializes in Cantonese food and chow fun etc. was mind blowing. I'll never forget how good it was (and it was super cheap also back then). So yeah, videos like this just remind me of those days, how good the food can be there (though you do have to be careful lol) and how awesome it is Sonny and people like him get to travel around and eat this amazing food.
Sorry for the giant wall of text and my stupid ramblings about years gone by.
The way Sonny asks Virginia explain... made my day😂
Chicken and eel for 42 dollars? Huh? How does that make sense?
It dosent
He's a tourist
HK is VERYYY expensive, i wouldn’t doubt it
hongkong ripping people off
small piece of spam, one egg and piece of bread for 4 dollars make sense either? or egg and instant ramen for 5?
Such a fun challenge, spending $100 USD of Sonny’s money 🤑 😂Thanks for the fun times 🥳
@@kayflip2233 sonny needs to clarify on the title
@@kayflip2233 Sonny said "American dollars" right at the start of the video.
If he goes back I think it would be cool to bring him to a late night dim sum spot and let him enjoy the beautiful chaos :) plus, its a LOT cheaper
- Yes, I wouldn't mind spending his money as well ! 😄🤑💰💸💳🧾
Will have to settle for my bag prawn crisps, (shrimp chips)- they tastes exactly the same 😉😛
It's true that due to health regulations a lot of DPD's have disappeared, but there's also a lot of them that have moved indoors into the upstairs Cooked Foods floors at wet markets/civic halls (sometimes those include indoor sports centers and public libraries). like Bowrington street wet market from last video's cart noodles, or Electric Road Municipal Services Building where there's Fu Bo Seafood. I wanted to say Tung Po but they moved from Java Road Wet Market to some 2/F of commercial building in Wanchai.
Love the thumbnail of Sonny holding a burning $100 bill. Made me laugh!
HK is an amazing place, you can find all different country food here!! enjoy your stay & eat more!! I wish I can go back to HK and just eat...
Sonny....you make me laugh !...LOVE the video
Virginia is a fantastic co-host/guide. I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy seeing her on here more often!
Yep, saw her on this channel 4 years ago.
I love it how the man is cooking with his singlet 😅 classic Asian love it! #proud2beasian ❤
Nice sneaky Aladdin reference thrown in there
theres a restaurant/ cafe literally next to bing kee, called cheung sing. Thats the real spot for legendary food
Yay another $100 dollars food challenge
Hi quick question I’m new here, are they using HK$100 or US$100? Thank you.

@@oldcowbb 😂😂😂
Stall number 1.looks great .2.year right about that plate with the different meats.3.the pot had flavor, and a lot of spice.
Sunny you should go to singapore with all the food stands over there
I am definitely still half asleep. You said some of the stalls serve pigeons and my mind immediately went them actually severing the pigeons a meal.
That APounst Its Bonus😂😂😂
I think I have seen the first location on Korean show return of Superman when Park Jooho ( soccer player) took his half asian/ Caucasian kids out for breakfast in Hong Kong.
So for the 1st stall, pretty sure the protein in the egg is New Zealand corned beef. It's a fairly common omelette in HK. It is nothing like the corned beef in America.
The first meal filled me up.. lol
To be fair, a bunch of shops say at Jardine's Bazaar are basically serving street food - its just a basic shop coverage on it.
Shout out to the prep chef! What would we do without em
I was impressed when Sonny said “mise en place”
Wake and Baking to Sonny Side.....Epic,lol
Dude it's making me hungry bro😂 I'm going to have to have spam and eggs now❤
The table at 9:02 leisurely drinking Penfolds from plastic cups 😋
In East Malaysia, we love Chinese food. Very delicious and satisfying.
she doesn't know that got me hahahah
Love the Aladdin reference 😂
Great participation factor...sweet
Bro is straight relaxed @05:44
I want to see you come to Cambodia again to review food.but I recommend you to review food in the kampongsam(Cambodia)ok?
are you ever going to mainland china? theres so much and so good food to explore
Jimmy Yang was spot on about chinese chefs
Ah man I miss Hong Kong street food was born there & I lived there until 12 years old I still go back every 3 years etc
I love to live vicariously through your many food adventures, and it's amazing to watch you share so many foods from various cultures! Thank you for repping Hong Kong where my family is from! Your Cantonese pronunciation is also on point, so amazing job! I also love your on-point description of what Wok Hei means, it's spot on!
Omg Sonny finally has done it!!!! 🙌 Btw why didn't you let Virginia eat along? lol
Im from utah USA. Wish i knew you were in HK the last few days. We were just there for the last week and left today. Lol.
12:13 "She's doesn't know"😂😂😂
His unique sense of humour really makes this show stand out
why rotate the bread when toaster, toasts both sides?
I would love to visit Hong Kong …delicious food 🥘 ❤
Er ok.. dpt is a restaurant that sells proper dishes and not street food.
Going by your logic a 5 star michelin restaurant building also sells street food if its at the side of a street
Sonny I take my hat of to you for bringing the content. I do not know how you can eat at some of the places you go to!!!!
The guy who did the Flame Effects needs a Raise - Funny as Hell !!!!!!
You really know your stuff bloke, your experience serves you well.
click bait work, congratulations on breaking the 100
Hey man, what are your thoughts on the "gutter oil" issue?
eat at home
You should try other neighboring asian countries next! Like Thailand or Japan again?
I honestly would of just eaten that egg yolk shrimp skin on for all the flavorr😂
I'm convinced. kolkata ido chinese food was hugely influenced by Hong Kong and the rest of the Canton region❤
Travel on the high speed rail up north for 15 minutes and you can get all this for 30USD.
Everyone in Hong Kong also looks like they are involved with organized crime or are actors in a kung fu movie where they play someone involved in organized crime. I mean that in the most flattering way.
That's because they are. Those dai pai dong's have to pay protection money to triads. Each area in the cities are controlled by triads. They are everywhere.
Instant noodles costs almost 6$? Damn, I love 7Eleven
Delicious food
My favorite part... Street food!
He speaks the actual truth once you understand his inflection on words haha. "This is good, has a strong hint of soy sauce" aka. Tastes like salt 😅 love him he is the best ever.
it took me 2 episodes to realize virginia's company name is a wordplay on cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Please come to Georgia
i dont think these can rly be considered street food though. They are more like "restaurants" albeit low tier ones
I prefer the "Sticky with a Chance of Fungus" tour guide service.
Nowadays Spam is a luxury now, ain't now way I'm paying close to $6 each, here in Australia anyway.
Same in Canada....
Yeah it's about 5$ here are in the US
Sonny, you've come a long way. One of my favorite food vloggers; great colab with Virginia. Hong Kong is a great place to eat. Very proud of you man !!!
Such classic Asian street kitchens, 2 people cook for 20 tables.
I was in hk in 1988..I got a cup of watermelon juice for 30cents..drank in the bar fir 3 hours ..cost 20 for 9 screwdrivers..
Cool video bro👌🆒✌
Hello Mr sonny I am your fab from the Philippines...I am always waiting for the new upload of yours..
