We have us a happy little flameless heater bag here and we will accent it it with the freeze dried entree. Lol. maybe i wasnt funny but i get your point
Your videos are so relaxing I’ve been in the hospital for three weeks and I’ve watched almost every single one of your videos they help me forget about my pain and help me sleep and relax for some reason lol thank you!
Thanks for getting people educated about MRE and other survival products. I love your calm delivery of reassuring fact. If I had to survive on a raft or in a jungle with anyone, it would be Steve1989 hands down!
RC Gusto is the second most watchable mre reviewer imo, if you've watched all of Steve's videos, his are the closest in terms of the way he reviews them.
Steve, I love watching your videos. I Am a vet and have a retired drill instructor for a dad. That being said, I made bug out bag for my wife. Recently bought 3 c\ses of military MREs I would like to request more 24 HR ration videos because I want to order 2 at a time so my dad and I can experience them at the same time.
Thanks for all of the very helpful, and frankly relaxing insight, truly a very Bob Ross Esq voice, very calming, relatable and down to earth. And the content is very helpful and precise and needless to say, entertaining. So to conclude, thanks please keep the great content coming.
Found you a few days ago and nearly have watched all your videos! MREs are so interesting and you are super easy to watch! keep up the good work, you are getting big so quickly.
The sticky rice has an indicator of how far to pull the corner of the plastic for ventilation when cooking and then you nuke it for a couple of minutes. Those are sold in my local supermarket for like 1 buck or 2. Great and simple for making sushi. Rice and pork is a huge staple in a daily Japanese diet so its more than likely its pork your eating since its very cheap compared to beef. And your actually eating it properly with the white rice, right on!
My wife gets pissed on mondays when she makes dinner. I come home to a nice homemade dinner and say "lets get this out on to a tray"I then grab a plate( I have no trays) and of course say "nice" as I plate it up. Then when my daughter brings over one of her snakes i pet them and say "nice hiss" I usually get a look or a smack from the wife....lol
cheaper to live off mre's or buy store bought garbage, i mean food, lol and love the vids bro been watchin them for the last 4 hours or longer, nonstop, lol!!!! love em bro!
Great...now im hungry again ;) i eat, looking at your video...hungry again...eating...watch another video, hungry again...eating... no more food left here now...hungry :P Best regards from Norway
awesome vids, I still find it hilarious when you taste something say it's awful then proceed to eat it again and ask yourself why you just did that and then eat it some more
a really late comment here and not sure if someone has answered this already but im just starting to watch your videos and thought I could help with identifying the "meat". A standard meat in Japanese dishes is pork, as it is cheaper than beef, and beef is not commonly used in there meals. Beef is more of a special occasion type dish, like prime rib would be for us. So the meat in the dumplings is most likely pork.
It may have been mentioned by someone already, but it says that it's a mix of pork and beef. (onions, panko, and eggs are also in it.) Great video anyway!!
I think the voice is the charm, like. Christian bale and Ashton kutcher mixed. very easy to listen to. also it's intriguing topic. I used to get mre`s as a kid, mid 90`s era. only one I remember was a Spanish rice meal. lol was nice.
I feel that the Japanese ration is so simple because the people are so grateful. They are so technologically advanced but humble. Rice and fish always has and always will keep the Japanese people on top.
wow the japanese definitely went the utilitarian route here. No beverages, no condiment packages. I guess it all balanced out by having a great entree. It definitely looked delicious.
That is not sticky rices. It's actually standard rices of the Asian, if you use the rice cooker and cook them properly. The sticky rices are made from a different type of wheat.
Steve, I went to RC Gusto’s videos and watched one. It was weird, I felt like I was cheating on my wife! Nothing at all against him, but nobody holds a candle to you man! Keep up the great reviews!
***** i know that feel, i have a ton of material sitting in storage unfinished. ever since my medical bs started i haven't been in the right state of mind to make finished music. but yeah man that sounds like a great idea with the slideshow or putting them on soundcloud possibly. depends on if you want it to stand alone per se. send me a message if you'd like to toss around ideas or want feedback.
+Steve1989 MREinfo It sounds great with your ration videos, they have a classiness to them. I didn't realize they were your own creations, that adds to it. If you want to make a channel, I say go for it! But I love how it is in this video.
I've seen a couple of jsdf reviews and although the food looks good where's the hydration? Even with a plt/coy water drop you need some personal drinks to avoid menu fatigue.
I live in Japan at the moment, this looks a lot better than some of the things I've tried to make myself. Wonder if you can buy them from airsoft enthusiast shops or somewhere?
s.kakaku.com/search_results/%83~%83%8A%83%81%83V/?category=0025_0011_0001 Apologies if you can't read Japanese...from what I've read though, manufacturers of SDF rations simply repacks them and sell them to civilians.
i have to say i am a fan of eastern food in general, esp indian food. but these jsdf meals look like something i would prefer especially, maybe even over us or north american mre's. im a sucker for any type of rice and meat
hello and sorry, seem a pack you called"fried rice" is not really fried rice, its a kind of mixed rice in Japanese meal, you can try it in several Japanese restaurants
+Kevin Moore Japanese tend not to use furikake for fried rice if anything perhaps little shredded nori might be used but often just on white rice. furikake comes in so many different varieties my personal favorite is Wasabi furikake can easily pick up some online. but nothing beats plain white rice in my opinion !
"MRE reviewing community" is definitely one of those things I didn't think would exist.
They even have ration conventions

Shout out to RC gusto. Decent mre.
I have no idea how I stumbled across this channel and why I'm so hooked on it now.
This guy is like the Bob Ross of food.
I was thinking the exact same thing. "It just says meat dumpling, we don't know what kind of meat, but that doesn't matter".

Awesome vid
Fried rice and regular rice. Japanese know how to do it. Rice, WITH THEIR RICE.
For some reason I want a few hundred cases of MRE's. Can't explain why
I do too, I just find them so fascinating haha
Holy shit, i'm feeling the same. British 3000kcal MRE packages are the things i'm going to buy. For absolutely no reason at all.

You could keep a few for emergencies. I would
I love how genuine you are. The MRE TH-cam community seems to be the most genuine. This review was really cool.

Seems like asian countries tend to have quite tasty rations
I wonder how well they store, though, compared to Western ones?
+Jaybird196 as an Asian myself I tell you... you will feel really really really thirsty after this meal
+Imz Deodex So, you've eaten this meal, before? What was the expected shelf life?
Asian countries usually tend to take eating pretty seriously, so it definitely helps soldier morale if the food is good-quality :)
try the italian MRE, look realy good, but i think is hard to found
that ration makes the pizza im eatting look like im eatting some peasant bread and river water

He hasn't uploaded in 4 years tho 😂
that looks better than most meals i had at school
I wish I could eat that at school
So true!! School food is like prison food. I expected all you would get from a MRE was even worse than prison food :/

Steve1989 you have become the Anthony Bourdane of army rations, and MRE reviews.
I'm watching this while starving.
That's the best way to do it.
+Ronald Soares yeah, if you wanna gain some weight from rations you order. I wanna buy at least three.

I also love furikake. I discovered it not so long ago and now I need it for every rice meal.
Steve1989 you're my favorite MRE reviewer this is such a joy to watch

Legend has it that if you comment on an old video, Steve will give you a thumbs up. Because why wouldn't he?
The evolution of Steve's closing catchphrase is so close at the end of this one!
The white rice is identical to what they sell in convenience stores in Japan, same container and everything.
