What about switching these with leds so you don't have to worry about them blowing again?
Thanks for upload but what about the back light? One side of my instruments won't light up and I'm told it's impossible to replace the black lights if they blow. Your video will only fix a blown warning lamp
Do you have any recommendation on how to remove just the DIC switch panel on the right side of the cluster? My bulbs are toasted.
Very easy just remove front bezel with 6 T15 screws and then they are accessible.
looking for some help, my black lights stopped working on my cluster so i replaced the high voltage power supply and the lights with known good parts and they still do not work when the vehicle lights are switched on. do you know what could cause this?
Can we replace with different color LEDs, basically white and blue and maybe a red for the red line and green for signals? This is what I'd like to do while I have the entire dash off for blend door actuators. Also thinking of changing the HUD to blue LED. (?)

Crazy Uncle Burton dependable as daylight, when called you answer your phone on the 2nd & maybe the 3rd ring! I did have to call you a couple times for my own 2nd guess’s then. You leave no room for error. Your package of bulbs are OEM specs your video is detailed to the point that the only improvement would be you doing the labor for customers. LOL. Thanks for the the video making it impossible to error in restoring the C5 instrument cluster bulbs replacements.
In mine some chip died not replaceable, everything was dead, no miles recorded etc. Damn now I need a tech2 to read the exclusive early c5 SRS bus to diagnose the airbag light, because I replaced with a newer cluster that doesn’t have the separate SDM bus on pin 9 of obd2 dlc, so the codes don’t show in the DIC
I also want to change my bulbs but I want purple lights are all these bulbs T5

I think it would be imperative to use the proper bulb size for people who have never done this before. Big bulb, small bulb doesn’t get it. But Thank you for an informative video.
What could make the gauge lights turn off (on a 1999 C5) as soon as the motor is on? They turn on when I unlock the car and when I turn on the ignition they are still on. So they are working. But as soon as the motor starts they turn off. 🤔 They are off regardless of whether or not I have the headlights up, but they did turn off the first time when I touched that lever. Can't remember if I turned on the headlights or cruise control or what, but I heard a short quite "beep" sound and the gauge lights turned off. Since then I can't get them to turn on when the motor is running. 🤔 I just bought the car the other week. The former owner said that the fog lights stopped working the last time he washed the car, and that it keeps blowing fuses since then. But for me, everything else has worked until now, including all lights, until this gauge lights issue occured suddenly. 🤔
I want to do my 1999 c5 but im not capable of doing this. Any suggestions where I can look ?
The buttons on my cluster stopped working and took me forever figuring it out. Finally I got another one from a salvage yard as it shorted out electrically with a burn marks on the medal cover on the back . Lucky I found one with only a few hundred miles different as I had no way of knowing how to reprogram the odometer. My question is it programmed elsewhere ìn the car as well?
Burton, many thanks for posting. I didn't change out my light bulbs. But I have a 02 Z06 that just developed the mystery buzzing noise from the speaker in the IC. Through much research, many people said to just cut the wires to the speaker in the IC. And your video showed me a quick safe way to get the back cover off. Again, many thanks!

There are 6 T15 screws holding the bezel to the front remove that and it comes out super easy. Just replaced mine. I got a whole different DIC as I had a stuck switch also. Hope that helps. The T15s are very obvious when your looking at it.
@@taylordr2005 Does the instrument cluster have to be removed to see all 6 screws, or can this be done while installed.
