That scream that Johnny does at the end is just.... ugh! It is gut wrenching in the best way! I think something that is enormously damaging is when a teacher---- someone whose job it is to impart knowledge---- tells you that you're hopeless. Not only do you feel small, you are made to feel like you're so awful that you can't even be taught. I learned far too late in life that some teachers arent in the job because its their calling, amd therefore grow to resent said job, and then take it out on their students. Johnny's scream at his teacher is so powerful. He knows his worth because he already knew it himself, but also was lucky enough to find the right teacher. By far my favorite moment in Sing 2.
Well said friend. I love how the cat teacher doesn’t let him quit even when Johnny gets knocked down, she encourages him to get back up and finish the fight as a victor!
Yep. I dropped out of College because I had a professor that had no business teaching at that point in his life. Waited until changing classes to tell me I needed to give it up and try something new.
Apart for his eccessive pride, Klaus was not necessarily a bad teacher. To first destroy what the student thinks to know, is sometimes a necessary part of teaching. You can't fill a cup that's full already. But, for that to work, the student must have a strong motivation in learning. A motivation big enough to overcome the initial delusion. In the case of Johnny that couldn't work because, contrary to the other students (that were aspiring professional dancers, so knew how to dance in some way BEFORE coming to Klaus), he didn't have ANY motivation in learning to dance. He had been forced to do it.
Why is nobody talking about the amazing, primal yell he does at the end? In that moment he let out all of his emotions and without telling him anything, let Klaus know how much he hurt him. Taron did an excellent job portraying this.
After Klaus has been nothing but a jerk to him for the whole movie for being a bad dancer, Johnny then found Nooshy and asked her to teach him how to dance. Klaus couldn't accept that a street performer was a better teacher than him. So he decided to humiliate Johnny by beating him in the dance-fight scene. But thanks to the support of Nooshy, Johnny got back up and took Klaus down. In the end, Klaus kneeled to Johnny as a sign of respect, finally acknowledging he has become great.
Dont forget how johny showed his bare teeth to him as well. In primate language, that is a display of dominance. He is basically daring klaus to try something else
One of the most iconic scenes of all time. "You will never be great, Johnny" brings me to tears every time. The teacher is the ultimate challenge to rise against. This is the moment that Johnny defines himself.

I love this scene always. In every single movie, johnny always has a mentor. First it was that lizard lady(forgot her name) then he tried finding it in that monkey but couldn't and found it in his friend. He just needs people to push him and show him how great he already is. In a way the monkey is right, johnny won't be great until he realizes he is without mentors and friends.
The fact that the monkey yielded, and gave him a grace bow after Johnny had proven himself shows that he actually *did WANT* to see Johnny succeed; he just didn't believe he could do it because Johnny has never been able to do it single-handedly. Then when Johnny *did* succeed all by himself, utterly shocking him, he acknowledged his skill and gave him due credit.
@@hobomike6935 Yeah, it's a cool changeup to the usual formula where the jerk that underestimates the protagonist just falls from grace without acknowledging the protagonist, but here we see a teacher who was maybe just over zealous about his demands but was willing to accept that Johnny had indeed grown as a dancer in the end.
It might only be a small scene but I love how his dad is like "That's my boy" sounding so proud of him compared to the first movie where he didn't support his dreams. Awesome development right there!
Part of being a great teacher, is being a great student. Here, even a professional dancer like Klaus recognized that Johnny *did* have talent; and yielded to him. Not exaggerating - this has changed the way I do my homework. I go to a private school that loves to assign homework and listening to this not only keeps me 95% focused (5% dreams about going to Disney World) but it also relaxes me without even knowing it. I find myself being so incredibly focused and relaxed - this is my new secret weapon.
I was somewhat surprised that he didn’t storm off in rage, but used his failure to beat Johnny as a learning moment. Even a master dancer like Klaus with his own studio and accolades, is still a student at heart and is willing to acknowledge skill when he sees it. His bow of grace at the end was his way of telling Johnny, without words, that he had earned his respect; Klaus now saw that he was wrong before; and was proud that Johnny had taken Klaus’ message about using suffering to become great even when he had clobbered him over the head with it.
And another thing I love is the attention to details that illumination has put in the movie with the animal behaviours. In the wild monkeys show their teeth in order to scare and intimidate the others and to show who is on top in the hierarchy. And the fact that Johnny showed his teeth to the probopass( that is the name of the dance instructor specie) is awesome as with that action he finished his declaration to the dance instructor that he is no longer scared of him and cemented the emerging respect that the dance instructor had for Johnny as you can see in his eyes that for a moment he was scared of him as he gulped.
It was a little confused when the "planet of war" was a soft piano pop song, but the amount of emotion pulled out of the characters and environment during the "fight" was genuinely breathtaking, definitely something that if in a liveaction musical would have the audience at the edge of their seats. (Favorite part is definitely 4:19 , just the pure anger and defiance on his face when he finally gets fed up, perfection 😌👌)

I actually liked Klaus' final action. He's a master in his own right of performing arts, and once he saw that Johnny had proven himself (WITHOUT using his techniques) he realized there's more than one way to nail a choreographed performance, and bowed out of respect and admiration. Johnny needed to believe in himself, WITHOUT a mentor propping him up. Klaus pushed him to do this (albeit in the wrong way,) and both characters learned a lesson because of it.
The only complaint i have about this is Klaus goes from having both Staves to just one, and we NEVER see what happened to the other one. The movie is about stage performances, scene consistentcy is important damnit!
You’re right, it vanishes somewhere right around the 3:59 mark. RIGHT in the previous scene 3:50 , both his arms are separately raised, so he’s still got both; then at 3:58 he’s just got the one staff. Did he discard the off-hand staff? I don’t see it in the pull away at 4:05
The pull away also shows Johnny's other staff is missing as well. His staffs were on the ground and he picks one up and the other one disappeared somewhere@@hobomike6935
I think what gets me is after all the hardships the dance choreographer put Johnny through with the put downs and humiliations he was proud of him. Of course we can throw blame for being the devil but what happened at the end? Johnny achieved his stardom everyone can recognize. Sure it was hard and difficult and seems like everything was against Johnny but how many chances he got after going on stage? Non, just one theres no in-between The Best and The Failure
Se dieron cuenta de la cara de desconfianza que tenía Johnny al empezar pero al ver a Nooshy se armo de confianza, eso demuestra que es obvio que siente algo por ella 😊
I love how jhonny is tolerant up to a point. He will stand up for himself but also knows where to draw the line when doing so. That's what makes him such a great character.

I love this scene so much... I don't why.
This was my favorite scene in the whole movie!
3:41 At this point, Klaus knew he was fcked up
I think what gets me is after all the hardships the dance choreographer put Johnny through with the put downs and humiliations he was proud of him. Of course we can throw blame for being the devil but what happened at the end? Johnny achieved his stardom everyone can recognize. Sure it was hard and difficult and seems like everything was against Johnny but how many chances he got after going on stage? Non, just one theres no in-between The Best and The Failure
0:55 Rosita: Mission report, I must take care! For I have landed on the planet of War!
Me: Would you please welcome to the stage, the one and only, Johnny!
Awesome performance!
I love Sing
2:07 You could? Alright, HIT IT!
Taron Egerton is a brilliant singer
ah thanks now i know his name
4:06 Yeah! That’s more like it!
Nooshy is SO underrated tho- shes the reason johnny was able to do this
When she started beating the drums and everyone where hitting their staffs, that definitely gave Black Panther during the final fight scene.
Love this song and taron sings it so well. I could listen to taron sing all day ❤️❤️
Johnny fr gave him the 20 piece mike Tyson special
GOD I LOVE TARONS VOICE
3:47 When I lose in a fight against my bullies, my friends and family, get them distracted 3:51 Me angrily singing sky full of stars 4:01 Begins to scream sing
4:25 Long live the king! 🤴🦍
I love sing 1 and 2 and sing the thriller
Here’s hoping n wishing 🤞for Sing3 Sing2 just up the bar hope the sequel even set the bar even higher trilogy is enough no need to make till sing5 or else the magic dies
This scene brings a tear to my eye every time i see it
I love how his father is proud of him ❤
“I’ve landed on a war planet” *piano love ballad starts playing*
I don’t know why the tiger getting a broom to join in the drumming makes me smile everytime
4:09 bro johnny snapped bro proved him that he will be great 🔥
Can we just talk about how intimidating Johnny actually would be there? He's a GORILLA. Having one of those up in your face miffed off at you is honestly terrifying.
Johnny taught him a new dance named "assault and battery".
One of the greatest scenes in that movie!
ryan is suuupppeeeerrrr cute😊
News Reporter (Me): Crowds are beginning to arrive at the scene. Daniel Tiger: Hi, neighbor! We're at the theater. PBS Kids Characters are here and we're ready to start the show. Super Why: ...and you're all invited, Super You.
sometime you just need someone to believe in you...imagine how great he was if he didnt needed help

Johnny is the best character in both of these movies.
