GTA IV really was way ahead of its time, it took the gaming world by storm in many ways, it really felt like a video-game with a live world probably for the very first time ever and the map was one of the biggest made to that day as well, the people you could go hang out it, the random encounters and all these small details you described in this video really made the game feel magic. No wonder it got 10s in almost every single score outlet at the time.

i had way more fun with GTA IV single AND multiplayer. it was so crazy good. GTA V was cool in the first few months, but then i realised that GTA IV is without a doubt the better game. GTA V is not a bad game, it's super awesome. but GTA IV was better in comparsion
Another detail: windshields in GTA IV don't shatter when shot through, because modern windshiels have a layer of plastic between layers of glass, meant to hold it together even if glass shatters. In GTA V windshields use same damage simulation like side and rear windows, which are usually made out of single-layer tempered glass.
Yeah I was a bit disappointed in certain ways when V came out... should've kept a lot of stylistic details and mechanics from IV and improved on them to go for more of a gritty heist movie like heat or the town... instead they made it like newer fast and furious movies and overly colorful CGI action movies

One simple thing I loved about GTA4 was the extended death cutscene. They really cut it off quicker in GTA5 which doesn't allow for you to see the full potential fallout sometimes.
i agree to a degree. some sports cars in 4 needed better handling. but in 5 the average cars sometimes handled too well. its a balancing act that doesnt seem perfected
When GTA v came out I came out on the same system as GTA IV at the time. They had to cut back on a lot of things in order to make more room to make the game prettier and we're graphically enhanced at the cost of certain things. I wonder what the GTA will be like on the new system
The thing is they never made a GTA accoustomed to the PS5, hell they didn't even make a GTA for PS4, only Re-Releases of a PS3 game. We got RDR2, which was made for PS4 and it looked incredible. I am very hopeful, that GTA6 will blow everything out of the water of they manage to get everything out of the PS5 hardware

Looks like GTA IV, RDR, and RDR2 are the 3 most realistic Rockstar Games, and that's why those are Rockstar's best three games. They all have tragic backstories of the protagonists with sad endings, and realistic physics & logics.

Some of this tests are more aggresive to the GTA IV Like the scratches on the wall and the pop tires was more realistic in GTA V But other then that I agree why haven't they added all the fun stuff from GTA IV.

@@therage583 It's not laziness, it's about development time/cost. Every little detail of a game takes hours of developer time. Every game that's ever released, the designers certainly wanted way more stuff to be in the game, but they have to make decisions about what to include and not include. They want to spend as little as they can developing so they will cut features that they don't think people will care about. You'd think "Oh Rockstar is fucking rich they can afford it and include everything" and yeah they're loaded but games like this have hundreds or even thousands of people across different teams, each of them making high 5 figures or even 6 figures a year. The game's gotta make a profit or there's no point in making it.
I still prefer to play gta4 over gta5... the story is more believeable and the atmosphere is darker. The whole gameplay feels more real compared to gta5. Hope gta6 has more of a gta4 feel to it
Played gta4 for a week when it wss published and returned to San Andreas. It was dull and too depressive, I hardly remeber any mission (while we all remember classic missions from Vice City or San Andreas even played once)
To me though there is more realism in some aspects of GTA 4. I think showing off a weapon like a grenade launcher would realistically get you arrested lol. Plud I think the overall graphic difference despite being on the same console lead to the give take differences in other aspects.
This will depend much more on what people prefer than on what it really is, so IN MY OPINION the most fun will always be the more realistic, which in this case is GTA IV. GTA V is very nice too though 🤟
First of all thank you mate for bringing all these details to our attention ❤. Thinking about all these details a game launched back in 2008, is mind blowing. But comparing the two for me personally doesn't make one better and the other worse. They are both masterpieces. Maybe they didn't put these on gta 5 because they didn't want to publish a game that has everything the previous game had and even more. Meaning after the launch of gta 5, there were still many gamers including me myself, played gta 4 again and again and enjoyed it, because it had stuff that gta 5 didn't have. But now in gta 6 there's a good chance of bringing these stuff back. Because they probably are not counting on selling more copies of gta 4 anymore. But there might be stuff that gta 5 have this time but gta 6 doesn't 😅
What i realy hate about gta5 is that everything is so bright, funny, almost cartoony. It has better graphics, but the graphics in gta 4 was more lifelike Gta 4 has the best physics i have ever seen in a video game. And i think that at least 50% of the fun in gta4 where the physics. It was so funny to watch peaople fly away after you hit them with full speed or the helicopter. The car damage was way more superrior. Or even how the npcs reacted on their enviroment
Crashing in IV was fun, in V it’s just annoying. You can’t push a Smart car out of the way with a semi in GTA V. It makes no sense. The cars become solid immovable objects, especially when cops barely box you in.
Idk why police cops dont care when player holding a weapon. But some mission like when killing guy (i forgot his name) in hospital, police will react niko when holding a weapon.

I think an important thing to consider is the context of the technology available to them at the time, for example: 1 - gta iv had one protagonist, and was maybe 1/3 the size of GTA V's map / gta v had 3 protagonists and the map was huge for the time with lots of variations in landscape and details 2 - gta iv had fewer side activities than gta v, and fewer interior spaces, most appear cookie cutter / gta v had tennis, golf, yoga? for some reason, etc etc 3 - take points 1 and 2 and acknowledge that Rockstar made gta IV and gta V for the SAME systems available at the time.. the logical conclusion is they had to cut out smaller details to make room for the scale of the game they were making using the xbox360 and ps3 at the same time.. when you think about it, those little details had to most likely go in order to scale up the game simply due to design limitations fast forward and we have the re-releases on the next two console cycles - but the skeleton of the game will always be defined by the platforms it was designed for

Iv had a gritty story and believable setting, v was almost campy but v was a technical marvel given the hardware limitations

This video emphasizes physics and things which are impressive for GTA IV but GTA V removes unnecessary physics to increase ease of play, has massively better graphics and has more complex missions, more user friendly gameplay among other things. I find both games to be great in their own ways, GTA 4 being of realism and GTA 5 being of just an easier and more fun game to get into.
Gta 6 will be like a bonnie n cyde typa deal. Based off a female named Lucille . The map will be double gta 5 , and the way things were lookn itll have some of these gta 4 tweeks. Such as how cops respond to certian things. Also heard theyre more focuses on the online part not so much the story. I played gta 4 when it came out in 2008 at like age 11 and played it till gta 5 and i still play at 26
GTA 4 is better then 5 by a long shot, the characters are better, their stories are better, the soundtrack, in every single way that makes a game GTA 4 wins over GTA 5, only thing GTA 5 has going for it, its online is still active and it has better graphics, thats it

No it was not. Bigger map( not good as san andreas to be honest ) and the character switch and they're abilities make the game more fun. And the game more enjoyble and fast faced than iv.
GTA V is not realistic at all with grenades, but is way more realistic than GTA IV, since when a grenade explode it shots steel fragments which hit you just like a gun, so you should die even from 5 or more meters away
Curious if this is the updated GTA 5. I feel like 4 had great physics, but 5 was just them trying new things. In 6 they need to make a game that has both elements. Also we should be consider that NY is a different city than LA so the "pretty" aspects are also more the feel of Cali than a gritty NY

I was playing gta 4 yesterday and was driving an ambulance..somehow i managedto crash the ambulance and break 3 out of 5 sirens and they started to sound different ... Crazy details
3:17 like how people are burning on the street, hope we can see a detail in gta 6 where people are burning and one person risks his or her life to extinguish the fire with the help of fire extinguisher kept in streets. Will be an interesting detail update in gta 6.
Also in gta 4 when an ambulance comes like if u kill a person, the paramedics will actually pic up the injured or dead person and put them inside the ambulance

All the Car deformations, explosions, and physics/handling being the biggest setbacks.
I've always said... the only thing that people actually rate about GTA5 is the storyline, gum combat and online. Everything else was better with GTA4

What i realy hate about gta5 is that everything is so bright, funny, almost cartoony. It has better graphics, but the graphics in gta 4 was more lifelike
Gta 4 has the best physics i have ever seen in a video game.
And i think that at least 50% of the fun in gta4 where the physics. It was so funny to watch peaople fly away after you hit them with full speed or the helicopter.
The car damage was way more superrior.
Or even how the npcs reacted on their enviroment

Crashing in IV was fun, in V it’s just annoying. You can’t push a Smart car out of the way with a semi in GTA V. It makes no sense. The cars become solid immovable objects, especially when cops barely box you in.

Idk why police cops dont care when player holding a weapon. But some mission like when killing guy (i forgot his name) in hospital, police will react niko when holding a weapon.

I think an important thing to consider is the context of the technology available to them at the time, for example:
1 - gta iv had one protagonist, and was maybe 1/3 the size of GTA V's map / gta v had 3 protagonists and the map was huge for the time with lots of variations in landscape and details
2 - gta iv had fewer side activities than gta v, and fewer interior spaces, most appear cookie cutter / gta v had tennis, golf, yoga? for some reason, etc etc
3 - take points 1 and 2 and acknowledge that Rockstar made gta IV and gta V for the SAME systems available at the time..
the logical conclusion is they had to cut out smaller details to make room for the scale of the game they were making using the xbox360 and ps3 at the same time.. when you think about it, those little details had to most likely go in order to scale up the game simply due to design limitations
fast forward and we have the re-releases on the next two console cycles - but the skeleton of the game will always be defined by the platforms it was designed for

@@YellowBriefs maybe more interiors but every interior was very similar in design and appearance, V had a lot more variety, the car dealership Franklin worked at, Michael’s mansion with the swimming pool, Trevor’s trailer, the apartment he took over that dynamically changed as the story went on, the mission where you have to bust out of the FIB morgue playing as Michael,
Go back and replay gta iv and tell me every single metal door with the same dimensions and physics in the same Soviet block style buildings counts as “more interiors” they were recycled
And honestly I liked gta iv way more than v for the record. Iv had a gritty story and believable setting, v was almost campy but v was a technical marvel given the hardware limitations
@@stiefjac5082 you're forgetting all the restaurants and bars, a hotel, bowling alleys, sex shops, hospitals, the fact that almost every interior remains open after a mission unlike in GTA V. Please stop saying nonsense, GTA V's world feels non-interactive at all because you can only roam the streets.
Being able to go into lots of apartment buildings was a good thing, even if they looked very similar it made Liberty City feel like a real place.

You get to a point where its too releastic and gets annoying.
I think they react only to bigger weapons. I have carried handguns in front of them and they didn't react.

This video emphasizes physics and things which are impressive for GTA IV but GTA V removes unnecessary physics to increase ease of play, has massively better graphics and has more complex missions, more user friendly gameplay among other things.
I find both games to be great in their own ways, GTA 4 being of realism and GTA 5 being of just an easier and more fun game to get into.
Gta 6 will be like a bonnie n cyde typa deal. Based off a female named Lucille . The map will be double gta 5 , and the way things were lookn itll have some of these gta 4 tweeks. Such as how cops respond to certian things. Also heard theyre more focuses on the online part not so much the story. I played gta 4 when it came out in 2008 at like age 11 and played it till gta 5 and i still play at 26
More focus on online is what I'm most afraid of. Luckily I still have my copy of GTA IV so not the end of the world.

GTA 4 is better then 5 by a long shot, the characters are better, their stories are better, the soundtrack, in every single way that makes a game GTA 4 wins over GTA 5, only thing GTA 5 has going for it, its online is still active and it has better graphics, thats it

GTA V is not realistic at all with grenades, but is way more realistic than GTA IV, since when a grenade explode it shots steel fragments which hit you just like a gun, so you should die even from 5 or more meters away

Curious if this is the updated GTA 5. I feel like 4 had great physics, but 5 was just them trying new things. In 6 they need to make a game that has both elements. Also we should be consider that NY is a different city than LA so the "pretty" aspects are also more the feel of Cali than a gritty NY

And it probably will be. Not graphics wise but gameplay. And to me, gameplay is far more important. I'd rather have a kickass engine like Gta 4 has than Rdr2 graphics.

I consider playing gta4 instead of gta5. It has way better and realistic story and physics, and that dark environment at the game gives the vibe it should be given!!! Its totally better

I was playing gta 4 yesterday and was driving an ambulance..somehow i managedto crash the ambulance and break 3 out of 5 sirens and they started to sound different ... Crazy details
Only the very last example Gta 5 did better. All the other ones go to Gta 4!
