- Joe Mooney from Homesteadonomics shows how to install gray ONDURA corrugated roofing sheets on his chicken coop in Arizona. In this video, Joe shares some insights and tips for the ONDURA installation.
ONDURA product information and installation instructions are available at ondura.com.
Joe used the following materials for his ONDURA roof:
4 ONDURA sheets
90 ONDURA nails (1 box)
272 inches of vented ONDURA closure strips (2 packs)
1 ONDURA Ridge Cap - Long (12.5 inches wide by 79 inches long)

Thanks for sharing your prep and installation approaches. This is a nice roofing product that doesn't get much advertisement or word-of-mouth as it probably warrants.
Great tutorial. Nicely explained the whole process.
first rate comprehensive video-A+
Yes he is tops….cannot think with his sun there..that it will last long.
very straightforward and helpful for all corrugated roofing.
I appreciate the fascia flashing options.
Amazing, straightforward and clear instructions. Thanks!
Very descriptive. Thank you so much! Now I can finish my chicken coop!
love that nail job
Good job
excellent video with good explaination on installation ...
Good video DIY easy to follow quick and good tips well done
‘‘Tis was a very helpful and detailed video. Thankyou.
I have yet to find a video of someont installing these on purlins instead of solid decking. Anyone know if any videos on here like that?
Great video!
Great video, thanks!
Great job with this video!
He states to use at least a 1/2 plywood but with those screws that he shows (3 inch) they will stick into the top of the house by about 1/2 inch. Am I missing something? I am building cat houses so I can't have 1/2 sharp nails sticking out.
Ring shank nails will loosen and can't be tightened. They are extremely hard to be removed. Purlins are a weak way to go. The latest research shows that putting screws on the high points will loosen over time. The screws should go in the valleys except for the ridge.
that makes way more sense as there will be no way the panel can flex
Thank you Joe!
Great video i will sub!
Would love to do a 40 by 70 house
Beautiful, thank you!
Great video. How many years does it last in average weather ?
Not 15 in Illinois
Nice job, and nice explanation thank you to take time to do that.
Why would you want to block the venting? Venting would only help disperse any heat buildup.
Darren Johnson and
you do explain it well Im thinking to let my children to do drsame thanks for teaching me to do in philippine.
Luzviminda Samonte Samonte I think this type of roofing will be perfect for the Phillipines.
hi.. I love to buy your chicken coop .. if u can mind tell me how much it cost and do u delivered to West Virginia thank
im building a storage shed
can i use this for the sides of my shed?
yes
Great video
I just tore two (15? Years old in Illinois)
roofs of this stuff….using steel this time.
Can you walk on it? Not sure how you can install a full run of ridge cap without standing on the panels.
Joe: How has the roof held up? Have you used Ondura roofing for other projects? Blessings, Backwoods Gardeners
We had hay wagon houses/coops…Illinois….10-15 years later….junk
how much do these panels stretch I have a 52" long roof on a chicken coop I'm building and want to try to do this with one 48" wide panel cut in half
Very helpful, Thank you.
ventilation from where? you already sealed the roof
good vid
do the ventilation closure strips just go on the ends of the panels?
The vented closure strips go under the ONDURA sheets at the eave and between the ridge cap and the ONDURA sheets at the ridge.
Awesome
Insurance company's in West Virginia will not insure a house that had ondura roofing
is that metal or plastic?
how much would you let your fascia board stick up on the end to do it the European way instead of using metal flashing
The top of the fascia board should be one inch above the roof deck to fit properly within the last corrugation.
I love ur vdo
Great thanks
can I put this over roof that is already done with 1x4 redwood?
Of course. 👍
Can we use chainsaw to cut it?
There is no "s" in the word "affix". I don't get how these words end up with added letters, syllables, etc.
His starving things of oxygen (asphyxing) throughout the video was driving me nuts. Affix is a pretty simple word, why complicate it?
This is overkill for chickens. Fantastic workmanship, but the birds won't care.
Ha ha! And in any case, why does it need a roof anyway, if it's inside

Woodglut is a good solution for every woodworker.
Bloke bloke bloke bloke bloke bloke bloke bloke
It's "Affixed" not "asfixed" (which isn't a word).
