Thank you so much for the kind words!! For once my tendency to ramble comes in handy haha! I feel as though simply explaining how to do something without the why removes the real 'soul of enjoyment', I WANT people to enjoy using Live2D as much as I do after all!
My friend asked if my hand tracks my pen when I first made my model, then literally the next day I get recommended this LOL. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you, bless you! I couldn't find the tutorial for it and now it is here in my recommendations. Pleasantly surprised too, thought it will be much more complicated.
Coming back to say AAAA This was a lifesaver!! originally tried doing XY without the hand rotation inside the deformer and it really does make a difference and makes it so much easier to position the hand!! It even gave me the correct rotation effect when just using the deform brush tool!! tysm again
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I've seen some artists's models that can do this and was all "wow, I wish my model could do that while I do art streams!" And then I have no idea how they go about doing it XD.
Absolutely give it a shot! It should work with anything that you want tracked by cursor, just a slightly different deformer setup for something like that!
Thank you for such detailed tutorials! Roughly how long/how many hours does it take you to create a Live2D model? It's been a while for mine, but I'm very new to it. Your tutorials are helping me make my first!
I'm so glad that I can just be helpful!! Nowadays it usually takes me roughly 35~40+ working hours for a full body rig (depends on how complex it is though!) when I first started it was definitely a looooot longer than that! Take time and enjoy the rigging process, enjoy the journey as much as the results ^u^
i found your series massively helpful. i am attempting my very first avatar right now. do you have a video on how to set up the page? how wide , how tall, and what resolution is it? and how thick the lineart should be?
I don't have a video on it yet, but that is completely up to you! It depends on how powerful your PC is too - bear in mind a larger canvas will make the live2D model larger and may cause lag in some systems. As a start I would recommend a 3000px wide canvas at 72dpi As for the lineart, whatever your style is! There's no rule for it so go ahead and experiment with what you got!
so I have two screens my second screen is my drawing tablet. so on my primary screen the tracking and movement is fine but my tracking doesn't work as well on my second screen, any thoughts on how to fix that?
super cool! it works so good but only on monitor one and not on my second moniter, Idk how to can change the monitor tracking so if you know pls i love to know!
i dont know if anyone's asked this yet but is there a way to have it track on a different monitor besides a main monitor? my drawing tablet is not my main monitor and it is only tracking my hand my main monitor. amazing tutorials btw 💜❤
There is a way! You'll need to go into the settings (first menu, the cog wheel) and scroll down till you see 'Mouse Input Config' There should be 2 sets of numbers, X-Range and Y-Range! (You shouldn't need to touch the Y-Range unless your tablet has a different resolution) You'll need to adjust the min and max numbers on the X-Range so it tracks to your 2nd monitor! Most of the time (for 1080p resolution): Min = 1920, Max = 3840 If those numbers don't work for you: move your mouse cursor over to your tablet screen, you should see the X number just above the X-Range changing, you'll need to set the number at the far side of the screen! Sorry for the long reply! Hope this helps! 💜
I'm not sure if it'd work with an ipad since it uses cursor position in VTS (but there may be a way to trick it into thinking it's a monitor but I can't say for sure sadly!)
This is a great tutotial! I did want to ask though, even though I followed this exactly, I had to restart the model--this worked the first time, but the second time with the updated model it won't move. Do you know why this might be?
@@CutieDragon Thanks for the response! In Live2D it moves as expected, but it doesn't respond to the tracking in VTS. It's strange since I got it to work before setting up general tracking on the model, but on the new model I can't get it to move
@@amandacarrigan9874 Double check the parameters are setup in VTS, sometimes when loading in the new model the parameter settings get lost! (the final step in the video!) Might also want to double check that VTS is tracking your cursor correctly (I believe it should be in the 1st tab)
Thank you for this tutorial, i followed it but when I create the toggle to the drawing hand but when I deactivate it the hand still appearing but depending of the mouse position the opacity changes, what I did wrong?
it's likely that you have your toggle + XY on one deformer! It's best to keep these seperate as the keyforms can interfere with each other! Double check your deformer list and check if anything has both of these linked to it
Check your export version! It should be a drop down selection at the top when you export for runtime -> make sure it's at the newest version (4.0) also! Are you by chance using the free version? There may be a limitation you don't realise you've met
You always make the tutorials so easy to follow and understand the logic behind WHY (which many other tutorials don’t). So, thank you!!!

@@literallylyn.z there's plenty of simple models out there too! You can absolutely make a stick figure work too wouldn't you know!
do you have a video, or can you make a video walking through the process on hand+controller with tracking of a controller?

Can you make a tutorial on rigging the hands for tracking?
I may do eventually! That's quite the big one to cover, hands are surprisingly complicated!

Can this be done with an iPad or while using an iPad?
