Michael’s performance is so damn haunting and I’ve been watching it for 11 years now. I love Last Days and all of Gus Van Sant’s work but it’s not for everyone. I’m a huge Nirvana fan too, it was never meant to be biographical, it’s just an artistic interpretation of what someone like Kurt’s last days may have looked like.
Thats what i loved about it so much. This movie literally got me into indie movies. Ive gone to festivals and watched 100s of indie movies. All because of the movie that brought me to tears, Last Days-Gus Van Sant ft. Michael Pitt.
I remember it was like 2010. I had never seen this movie. I came home at like 3 AM stoned. This movie was playing on STARZ. For what ever reason, the weirdness of the film made me watch the whole entire movie. This song, and the ending brought me to tears. I never cry. In fact i think that was the last time n it was 13 years ago. I never really even knew, what an indie film was, but after seeing this, a whole new interest was unlocked within me. As of 2023 ive seen hundreds of indie films and even gone to a couple indie film festivals. Great fuckin movie. The lyrics of Death to Birth are just undesribable to me. I cant accurately put into words, what the song made me feel.
Sometimes you can not stand suffering anymore so you need to scape from yourself. Having money or being famous does not fix anything, if you can not stand yourself anyone is gonna save you. It seems that more than Kurt's artistic passion, he wanted to go away. It was not his place. His artistic vision was from outter space. Sure he's doing good now. We're all gonna meet him someday.

I loved this movie, it really gave you a feeling of loneliness and reclution. Really to feel bad, i think Van Sant wanted to touch those emotions and he really did an awesome job. A feeling Cobain probably had in his last days before his suicide. I think Gus van Sant is a real art director, his movies always take away the clichés that u see in all the movies. A beautiful underrated movie, not understood.
Absolutely amazing!!! Michael Pitt is a BEAUTIFUL soul, AMAZING & super funny actor excellent singer. I want to hear more from my fellow NJ singer/Actor He is most definitely a “Kurt Cobain” look & sound a like to a “T” and I want to hear more of his amazing voice

brilliant character study on loneliness and despair. i usually don't like van sant. i think it may have been michael pitts utterly depressing performance. he said so much with saying so little.

Both this song and this movie are amazing pieces of art. Pitt's appearance and mannerisms are a perfect tribute to a great man.
