VLADIMIR REBIKOV - 'Valse Melancolique in B minor', Op. 2, No. 3 - Performance by Patrick Gray

This is my performance of Russian composer Vladimir Rebikov's 'Valse Melancolique in B minor', which as the name suggests, translates as a 'melancholy waltz.' It has a very haunting, beautiful melody based around the harmonic minor scale, intertwined with many tense, rich and resolving harmonies and a piece which I find evokes a very bittersweet, reflective mood. Rebikov, wrote many piano miniatures and works in musical theatre and was heavily inspired by the works of Tchaikovsky and Grieg in particular.
