    Not sure if this is meant to be sarcastic, but it does prove a point... The more you restrict people to do things, the more they will find ways around it. Eventually the intention to be safe could cause people to do more dangerous things.

    I thought of putting a weight on the steering wheel, but then, knowing myself, I figured I'd get lazy and it wouldn't end well. Instead, I rest (typically) my left hand on the cross bar on the wheel. Just the weight of my hand is sufficient to eliminate the nagging. And I've taken my MYLR from Toronto to Orlando 5 times; in all of that highway driving, my technique works. Stay safe!

    What I want to know is who actually hates driving so much they want the car to drive for them. One of my greatest joys is jumping behind the wheel and hitting the highway with the music playing and smoke rolling out the windows. Driving is such a thrill, I would never give it up, even if the car is better than me. I rarely even use cruise control, or lane hold. Though stability control is nice ;)

    What if you need to me make a sudden steering wheel move on a freeway?

    • @Tyler_deJong
      @Tyler_deJong  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The bungee moves and doesn't affect quick, radical changes to the wheel. But you wouldn't want to rotate the wheel more than one whole turn. Maneuvers on the interstate shouldn't need more than a quarter turn on the wheel.

    Have you figured out a better solution than Bungies yet? Maybe large marbles instead of water in the pipe? For science

  • @jaydeeppanchal8743
    @jaydeeppanchal8743 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I dismissed the Bungee option before even trying, considering it would not be "manageable" in sudden maneuvers. I just use the sandbag weight on a scrunchy-looking Velcro strap. Worked until today when it was sitting on the left side of the steering wheel and I used turn signals stalk that is also on the left. 😂 Only 1 strike so far. 😉

    I think this with some sort of rare earth magnet that would disconnect if you happened to turn more than necessary… I’m going to try it and report back.

      Its annoying and fit starts to go off even when you go hands off for just a couple seconds. Guess what I can hold the wheel with my knee while I'm opening a pack of sour patch kids. Like seriously fuck off tesla. Most cars keep going straight for hundreds of feet with no input while I'm fighting with a pack of red vines but tesla AUTOPILOT loses its shit if I unscrew the cap on my water bottle.

    ngl tesla drivers need to have a routine driving test every 1 year with a real car that doesnt have automatic breaking and autopilot. yall forget how to drive after 2 weeks of owning theese glorified sedans/unsafe brick (AKA the cybertruck)

    When I saw this thumbnail I got super excited lol. Most of these comments are clearly from haters and non Tesla owners. The idea of a variable tension device is very clever, have you tried it without the weighted piece? One improvement I would suggest right away would be a magnetic breakaway instead of the ball-loop things, just in case you had to suddenly take over.

    • @Tyler_deJong
      @Tyler_deJong  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes it works without the weight, I just leave the weight on there for city driving. I love your idea of the magnetic breakaway. I may try to design something with that incorporated.

      I don't believe that Teslas are "one of the most crashed vehicles in the world". Teslas attract attention, but if a Ford crashed, it likely won't make the news at all.

      There won't be a law that says "you must not put a bungee around your steering wheel". However, there will be a law about making sure nothing interferes with your ability to control the vehicle, and attaching a bungee to the steering wheel will definitely violate that.
