The fact that the fan blade isn't removable means you can really only clean half the fan. I end up with a lot of hair wound around the fan spindle that is really difficult to remove when the blades don't come off.
We are sorry to hear this has been your experience. For safety reasons, the fan blade cannot be removed. However, we would be happy to assist you. Please email us at SocialSupport@Helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to provide assistance.

There should be a plastic pressure washer that holds the blades on. You can remove it, but you have to slightly damage the washer when doing that. But it can be reused. If you do t want to go that route, you can always easily clean both sides of the blades with a damp paper towel and your hand while the blades are still attached. I would recommend a vac with a bristle attachment for the grilles.

I'm glad to see there is a short quick video on how to clean my lil fan .... I love her so much... Her name is Fanny 😂... I've had her for a year now... Thanks guys❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial, Honeywell! I have wondered for a couple of years how I could take this fan apart and clean it. Now I know! The crazy comments and complainers almost convinced me it was too hard....lol But my regular Phillips head screwdriver took the screws right out. I washed the grill in a sink of soapy water. Then used various methods to clean the blade and motor. The whole process from start to finish took 30 minutes! Now that I know how to do it, I can clean it a couple of times a year to keep it looking like new. I appreciate the video very much! And I love this little fan so I'm happy to know I can clean it thoroughly as needed!
Since purchasing it, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQuBMI30VhO6fDed6NOsYftsoNa8x0UZ5 this fan is a trustworthy companion during the hot nights in Texas for me. The sleep mode is really quiet and gives you smooth wind to cool down. At full speed the fan is quite noisy but also very strong.Only weird thing is that if there is a draught from another fan, the sleep mode would speed up occasionally (getting a bit louder, probably to level 2 out of 4). This never happened so far when I used only this fan though.
NOT A THOROUGH CLEANING HONEY! The air intake area in the back of the fan around where the electric cord goes into the fan also needs to be cleaned. I used my vac pack and q-tips to clean out the accumulated dust (while unplugged of course)… important step to prevent fan- burnout!
For everyone struggling, I used an eyebrow brush/comb combo makeup brush (hopefully that’s clear enough) to clean my fan and it worked great! I think a straw cleaner brush would also do the trick. My screwdriver was too thick to reach into those absurd screw holes ://
Yay, ty for this video. It was such a hassle to clean it before, but I'm glad that I now know that it can be disassembled. I have to find a way to clean behind the blades, but this will make it much easier.
I’ve spent the past hour trying to undo the screws with no luck, and I have philips head screwdrivers in dozens of sizes! I think I might have to throw the fan out, which makes me sad for the negative environmental impact and great waste.

Imagine making the fan unable to be removed so it gets full of filth and clogs It's not a safety issue or whatever their party line is, it's a money issue If you spend less money on replacing the fan their stock might go down 0.001%

Here is what you'll need: Phillips screwdriver (standard should do) - cleaning spray - wet cloth - cleaning brushes or toothbrushes or anything else you can devise to get in nooks and crannies - - and a can of air and black Gorilla tape or something comparable. Remove the 6 screws (good luck), take the front off and clean it with warm water/spray/cleaning brushes, . . . use the wet cloth, brushes and can of air to remove dust from the blades and inside behind blades. When you are finished cleaning, put the front back on and secure it with the strong black tape and throw the little tiny useless screws away. You don't have to put the tape all the way around the seam, just about 6 or 7 small pieces strategically placed will work. I'm a female and I don't have all the necessary screwdriver tools to make it easy. I sweated an hour to get those tiny screws back in and tightened. Just could not do it. Next time I clean it, it will be a "breeze" to do!
Great minds think alike! I struggled for an hour to get this done thing clean with Q-Tips. Then I couldn't get The front of it on because of those stupid screws. I decided to do gorilla tape as well😀
That’s exactly my worry. I’m afraid that if I ever find Phillips screwdriver long enough and skinny enough to remove the screws, there’s no way I will get them back into such deep tight wells. So I’ll probably end up taping the front grill on like you did.
I've had this fan for many years. It works well. However, it's filthy. I tried to follow these instructions, without success. Trying to get a small phillips head screwdriver into the deep slot to looses the screws was impossible. Great product, but has a huge flaw.
We are sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having with cleaning your fan. The holes around the outer edge of the back of the grille should accommodate most standard sized Philips Head screwdrivers and should not require a special Philips Head screwdriver to loosen the screws at the bottom of the wells. If you have any other questions or need assistance, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.
Same here I’ve tried every screwdriver in the house they don’t fit in the hole. I’ve ordered small screwdriver on Amazon and they were too small. I’m just trying to clean years of dust. Geez I’m exhausted from trying.
@@Spucky50 I removed 8 screws around the perimeter with the philips head, but, there remains a screw at 12 and 6 o'clock of the large fan and it is definitely not a philips head screw. Those two remaining screws prevent removal. Amazing how this was designed.

It seems that every time I go into my bathroom, the person in the apartment below me is using his. Just very odd. Thanks for the informative video.

They felt it was "so common" they "didn't need to explain it"... it sounded like they felt that anyone who could not figure it out was not to smart... As a manufacture of any product, wouldn't it make better sense to just provide complete instruction... so that your customer would note have to know what the most common screw driver was? Additionally, why did the CSR decide to change the "most common" reply used on a comment like this? To a poorly, not to mention, potentially insulting reply?
Exactly! A screwdriver that long and skinny is not common in every household. They knew what they were doing making it a pain to clean so you’d toss it and buy a new one! Im going to buy a new one but not from Honeywell!

I’ve spent the past hour trying to undo the screws with no luck, and I have philips head screwdrivers in dozens of sizes! I think I might have to throw the fan out, which makes me sad for the negative environmental impact and great waste.

I am currently having this same issue 😑😑
Imagine making the fan unable to be removed so it gets full of filth and clogs
It's not a safety issue or whatever their party line is, it's a money issue
If you spend less money on replacing the fan their stock might go down 0.001%

Did you watch the video all you need is a screw 🪛 why u soo maad
Thank you for posting this video and to the people commenting, it's helpful.
@@honeywellpluggedin9834 well, not so much if one is a 71 grandma. The screws seem to have been over-tightened at the factory.
@@honeywellpluggedin9834 lies there’s no way a standard phillips head is fitting into these holes not only are they stupidly angled when standard screwdrivers are straight but the screws are deep and there are multiple of them this isn’t the first fan i’ve hat this issue with
Yeah ok if it was this easy we wouldn’t all be here! They made this fan impossible to clean! They put the screws to the cover so deep if u don’t have a screwdriver that’s long enough AND thin enough, u won’t be able to reach the screws! My first and last Honeywell purchase. I don’t like when companies play with the consumer like this just to force us to buy new stuff we don’t NEED! A dirty fan blows bad air and this one can’t be cleaned properly!!

It seems that every time I go into my bathroom, the person in the apartment below me is using his. Just very odd. So not only does this beautiful little fan produce "white" noise to muffle "my" business, it cools me on those especially hot, south Florida days and is great for dissipating the steam from my shower. Thanks for the informative video.
I should have done this a long time ago. My fan looks like I dragged it in dirt lol ugh it was 101 degrees yesterday. This works better than my Samsung AC. No lie.
The little tiny screws are almost invisible! And what screwdriver goes that deep? I might had gotten it really wrong but I spent most of the afternoon finding the right screwdriver’s size. Im good at fixing stuff … this one won 😞
Thank you for reaching out to us. We have not included the size for the screwdriver needed as we felt it was common enough and easy enough to access that it did not require that. Wow, was it just the way I read that reply from Honeywell Plugged In? I personally was insulted for you.
TERRIBLE RESPONSE! HOW RUDE

Many fan blades can be removed, but not this one. Why? My ecohouse fan blade can be removed by unspining a lock to keep the blade from getting loose. I dont like how these fans are made because of all the spindles you have to clean around
The new ones have Phillips screws, but if you have a fan older than 8 years it will probably have torx screws
Like in my case
That is correct that older fans do not have Philips head screws. The older versions of our fans were not made to be opened.
