    As a Hebrew speaker, my perspective is that the Hebrew of the Torah is very beautiful Biblical Hebrew and flows well. It's not choppy at all. Yes, in some cases, it's not like modern Hebrew. The Torah Hebrew uses Vayidaber Hashem, which means "and God spoke", instead of VaHashem Diber, which would be the modern way to say the same thing. However, the beauty of an ancient word like Vayidaber is that it seems very present tense too, as though the drama is unfolding in the present, even though it is past tense. In some ways, Biblical Hebrew is superior to modern Hebrew in its flow and eloquence. For example, ancient Hebrew often connects pronouns to verbs, as in the word "Samcheinu" (Tehillim/Psalms 90:15), which means to "make us happy", whereas in modern Hebrew one would say, Sameach Otanu, using two words to say the same thing. Regardless, it's a great challenge to translate the Torah or Nach because the books are laden with meaning, and there is a lot of nuance to the word selection in all these prophetic works, so they require a very nuanced corresponding translation. And Artscroll as you explained does provide quite a good translation.

    I used Artscroll for a while years ago. Now my main Tanakh is the JPS Hebrew-English edition. The footnotes are always helpful when the Hebrew text isn’t clear. Some have liked using the Jewish Study Bible (2nd Edition) by Oxford University Press.

    • @christo-chaney
      @christo-chaney ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Yomarkjean the 2nd edition was a great improvement over the 1st one. It’s mainly the JPS translation from 1985, original preface, all the footnotes, with a LOT of material contributed by many Jewish scholars. Be sure it’s from Oxford University press as there is a messianic Christian Bible calling itself the Complete Jewish Study Bible. But that one’s not Jewish.

      @@Yomarkjean Actually my wife’s Orthodox aunt believes I would make a good Rabbi. I searched Scriptures and found that only *GOD* could 👉 *MAKE/JUSTIFY/VINDICATE* 👈 someone else. In regards to my second question the Answer is obviously *X* . Her aunt would not Dare to go to her Rabbi for fear of being excommunicated. But what do you think about the matter? *GOD* wants us to meditate on his word not just to trust blindly in man. Lastly the word 5137. nazah appears 24 times in Tanakh 23 of those time means *UNEQUIvOCALLY* sprinkling Blood or Water. d Would it farfetched that 24th time would mean the same?

      @@Yomarkjean thankyou dude, I'm 52 and the realisation of God, and that Christians are believing incorrectly, is sad, the Jesus stuff, although he is a real person, who was killed off, his concept story was used to create a new religion, and had become smeared, by doing this, we who say that we are Christians, forget, that God is who we are to pray to and praze, the Jesus stuff, for what I can gather information of, might be, that Jesus was just a messenger for God, like a profit is, um, but in Christianity, you find that, they really ramp up, the Jesus stuff, Christmas and Easter is Christian religion tradition practice stuff, selling a tradition to make money, and is nothing to do with God, making a holiday season and story that you tell to your children, and a yearly basis celebration event, a loved thing large clumps of the world does, and all the while, aren't about God, and I was brought up, in this, I looked forward to this time of the year, enjoyed it, and raised my own children the same way, and, it's not actually about God, the Christians hyped up emphasis, on Jesus, and for as much as I can gather, is bad, and I'm very sad about it, as it's, all the while, Jesus was a man, and to follow a man, is said to be wrong, it's okay to have someone as a teacher, but the line, of respect and admiration, is quite seperate from each other, you can thank and respect people, but admiration is closer to praze which is something that you have to reserve for God, i have found that this conclusion, of Jesus and God, quite confusing, muddle, religion mess, it's like a mistake or deliberate intent to do that, to put only praze on a man is called idolatry religion, and from what I have been finding, the Christians do loads of that, it seems that Christians are side stepping God, and many Christians go straight out and say, that your surpost to hang onto the Jesus thing, and Jesus has been woven in as being the son of God, the saying that Jesus is Gods begotten son, that Jesus is God is often being said aswell, I often hear them saying, in Jesus name, amen, and the Catholics kiss the statue of Jesus, and they say the embodiment of Christ, and say the father son and holy spirit, non of this is what the jews say at all, and as the Jews repeatedly say, that the Christians have the Jesus stuff, entirely wrong, I have to wonder what is going on with this, Christians part of the Bible has the Jewish part of the Bible, that the Christians call the old testament, and the other half, the Christians call the new testament part of the Bible, the new testament is all about Jesus, and it seemingly normalises, the concept of glorifying Jesus, and this is where you find the, smearing and white washing, take place, and if you don't know any better, you don't Evan notice this, quite literally and cleverly, places Jesus in God's position, in God's place, in God's throne, seems to evaporate God, or place God underneath Jesus, and in doing so, is called replacement theology, and this is where idolatry comes in, and this is what has, made me feel like what the heck is going on Here, am I correct about this?? Or am I completely wrong??? And if I'm right, how much can I do now, to get understanding, of the God concept truth correct information from now on, so to follow and only praze and pray and to start this, this is the problem, Christians and Jews are very different versions of the Bible, the Jews say that they are following God, and the Christians say that they are following the Messiah, and that is Jesus Christ, the Jews say that the Jews Bible was dirtied with the Christians Jesus consept added to it, I know that it's totally okay with God to educate yourself and to question especially regards to belief and religion, so I feel confident about this analysing Christianity as much as I do, because we are surpost to have ourselves come closer to God, as long as you don't people convert to your version if you happen to be wrong, it's not okay with God that you misdirected someone away from God, that means you've affected someone else negatively, in the aspect of following God we must strive to make sure that we discover it first, I want to run to God not away from God, Evan the name of God is missing and I find that tremendous sadness that has happened, I am very worried about this, and we must come to judgement eventually before God, and his mercy is what we will be absolutely be crying for, this is what I think about most of All
