You touched on a really important subject around people with financial ability to take legal action against the police. This is why they abolish legal aid for civil claims. It makes it very difficult for someone to get Justice following their unlawful arrest. This is a deliberate strategy.
No such thing. There are bad coppers who actively abuse your rights; and bad coppers who say nothing while bad coppers are actively abusing your rights.

These two STAR Officers remind me SO much of the Police I knew as a child, and Officer SN 3424 reminded me SO SO much of a friend who I was in the school rugby team with, and who joined Essex Police MANY years ago. Very Solid DECENT bloke, quite laid back and very friendly, but Right is Right and BELIEVED in service to others BY upholding the Law. Policing as it SHOULD be. ! Wrong … Have you any Idea what the storage requirements are for video footage.. It is part of my job to collect and monitor the video from 1000s of video cameras and bodycams etc. You will be lucky if it’s kept for more than 30 days. As an example a cctv camera recording for 7 days will use around 1TB of disk space. The premises I work in has over 60 external cameras and even more internal cameras… There is no way to permanently store that amount of data… So as an aside if you are involved in an incident especially with cctv you really need to make a request for the footage within 5 to 7 days or you may not get it ..

Every legal determination depends on the point of view of whoever is adjudicating the matter, be that police, CPS, judiciary etc. The idea that it depends on such an objective substrate as "the law" is the height of naivety.

I thought they were just being nice for the camera, but when they said their main role is to work with kids in gangs and try to deter them from it, it made sense. Just like youth workers cut through the bullshit of life and get to the core of issues affecting young people, using a warm human side, those coppers must be passionate and in the role for the right reasons. These days it's less down to the CPS. The police decide on whether or not they want to take something to court.
