thered actually tons of songs like this in the original language of this song- kpop has had a bit of trend with this sound over the past year especially, but ive been feeling this song is nostalgic of 2016-2017 kpop as well (especially in choreography), so if youre interested in more songs of this sound, please look into kpop! you can start with this group first, fifty fifty, as their other tracks have a similar vibe. "tell me" by fifty fifty is one of my faves of theirs that is similar in sound to "cupid," but with a bit of a different touch to it which could lead you into more songs! "queen" by cherry bullet also has a pretty fresh and upbeat sound with melodies that remind me of sweets and the good feeling of summer break as a student. "honestly" by limelight is a bit smoother and laid-back, but it still expresses that desperation and anxiety of waiting to hear "i like you" from someone. "blank" by jo yuri is less romantic love focused in lyrics and more self love focused, but it has a sweet and aching charm to its sound that works really well with the singers voice. "cast pearls before swine" by purplekiss is more of a deviation from the romantic and fresh sound of "cupid," but i think its got the sharp feeling of a confetti popper going off, or that feeling at the end of a good comedy movie where they give a bright ensemble send-off party while credits roll, but the lyrics are about not giving the best of yourself and your effort to someone who doesnt deserve it.
i hope youll give these songs a try and branch into listening to kpop, as kpop is not just a genre of pop music, its actually many MANY sounds and genres so everyone is bound to find something they like as long as youre willing to give it a shot. and please give the singers of cupid, fifty fifty, lots of love on their music and videos! it would mean a lot to them to see support from people all over. ❤
