The trucking industry lost alot of professional drivers when they came out with the CDL.The reason being alot of the drivers didn't feel that they had the education to read and pass the written test. I was one of them but I didn't give up. I took the test and passed everything a year before the CDL became law. I already had a CLASS 5 Ga. license which I had gotten in 73. I had a good friend who was an owner operator who got out of trucking because he couldn't read. When his wife wasn't with him he always had someone with him who could read. When it came to driving he was one of the BEST. I retired from trucking about 10 years ago. I drove OTR for 40 years. I drove my first truck a B-61 Mack in 65 with a quad transmission. You drivers keep the sunny side up and may the wind be at your back. Stay safe.
Your friends how did he got his CDL license when he can’t read ? Cuz I didn’t went to school so I don’t know how to read a lot but I want get my CDL because I need a better job can you help me ?
Bryan Camacho the truth is I don't really know. I believe he had Ga. Class 5 and was grandfathered in. Back in the day it wasn't all that hard to get qualified. If i remember correctly you could qualify your self stating you had X amount of miles driving. CLASS 5 license changed to Chauffeurs license and then CDL. When I said my friend couldn't read what I should have said was he was a slow reader and just had trouble reading. He was a helluva driver though .
I took the test today and failed because I study wrong app information but they said I can come back tomorrow but this my first time watching your video I'm try that thanks.

When I took the general knowledge, air brakes, combination, tanker and HAZMAT tests in 1992, I took all in one shot and passed the first try, I have family members who are and were (retired) truck drivers so I picked up the knowledge from them about driving trucks soon after I graduated from high school, not everyone will catch on quick some will.
This was great advice. Luckily we have a skip button in Hawaii. I got my Class A permit with 3 endorsements. You have to pass the General Knowledge before you can move on to the next tests. I took General Knowledge, Combination Vehicles, AirBrakes, Tankers, Double/Triples, & Hazardous Materials. All in that order. I’ll be attending a trucking school next month. Thank You!
How did you take Hazmat test in the same day as General Knowledge? Don’t you have to do a TSA background check and have your full blown CLass A license first?
I literally just took my cdl permit test I'm in Georgia I passed all 3 phases in maybe 30 mins General knowledge Combinations and Air brakes unfortunately it wasn't a skip button for me I could have used it for a few of those General Knowledge questions but hey I passed but literally get the CDL PREP app and just study I promise you 90% or more of the test were the same exact questions. Im glad i saw this video.. i just took the test two weeks ago an failed because i did not pay attention to the skip question part 🤦♂️ thank you for this information
@@youraveragejoe2 I passed after I used the technique in this video which worked very very well.. skip the ones you don't know an answer the ones you do know and I passed with 3 wrong answers
Jonathan, thank you for you information. I watched your videos and did practice test on e Permit. I was able to pass on the first time. The only thing you should update is that in Ga you can’t skip question.
In MD, it does not work this exact way. You have to make an appt, and you cannot take a break in between exams. Also, if you fail, you can come back the next day, so long as you make an appt.
I'm in dallas and what worked for me was that I didnt over work my self. I didnt study day after day after day. I gave my self time to relax and refresh my mind. I passed all of them the first time but i did not do a written part of the exam at all. They were all in the computer and each test is timed you dont have forever on the test. I recommend is to do them all if you can, that way if you fail one atleast you know what you need to focus on to pass that one test. I believe there are 2 to 3 variations of each test so do study because chances are there are things not on the notebook they gave you to study. Also I downloaded (cdl practice test 2019 edition) that really helped me out. Check it out if your trying to get your permit I recommend that app for anybody. GOOD LUCK!!
You must pass a Dr. Physical and get a certificate. California DMV CDL Class A license and testing fee is $78. It's 3 Tests plus you must retest for anything you already have a license for, if you haven't tested within 6 months (car, motorcycle, bus, etc) In California there is a cap to the number of skips. I believe it's 3 per test. You can only pause the test once per day and you must finish it, that same day.
Alejandro Ramirez can you only take the General knowledge one day and return the next day. Or is the is the $78 fee going to apply again? And do you have to get a physical first then try to pass your test or it doesn’t matter ?
This can be very helpful unless you live in California, you don't have unlimited skip, you only have 3, and the test is timed. Everything else is true. Love your videos and great advice.
Took mine a few weeks ago in VA. Letting yall know that you have to take the entire test and hit submit. It doesn't tell you how many you have right or wrong anymore until you hit submit. This could be specific to va and a very recent change. The skip button tactic does still help though.

I watched the TH-cam video for the hazmat while I was in line at the DMV, when I got to the counter I went in my cube, answered the EXACT same questions I just listened to and passed the test in 17 minutes tops. I was in and out like that. I recommend looking up all the videos on TH-cam and learning from there. It’s way easier than studying random sections in a book
Studied for my 3 cdl permit tests hard for 6 days and passed combination perfect score, missed 1 on air brakes and missed 8 on general knowledge but still passed on my first attempt. My advice, study hard for the air and combination, take the general knowledge last, but still attempt it. It takes maybe 30 mins for all 3 tests. I only passed because I was very lucky to get questions I knew. Btw here in Tennessee there is no option to skip questions.
I took the written test today. I was prepared to skip the questions that I did not know. I studied the manual to prepare. There were about 20 question. To pass I needed 16 correct. I skipped a few but there was a very slim chance for error. I was nervous because I was confident that I would know all the answers and that really changed the plan. I did pass today and i'm looking forward to receiving my class A. Great video. Thank you for all of your help. 😎
Omg THANK YOU. I listened to your suggestions on how to test. I passed all 3 of them ione after another from Florida to become a bus driver for Disney. I skipped like youou
It is i used the CDL book and videos it was a great help for me i studied my ass off and reached out to the company that I applied to they were great support
Use epermit to study. Passed the first time testing after using epermit. Took the practice tests on epermit for two days and then took CDL test. epermit is where it’s at folks. You can choose your state.
Just took the test and these are some things you should know. 1. You will be asked to turn off and put away your cellphone. If your cellphone is heard, seen, or in use during testing, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN AUTOMATIC FAILURE! 2. There are multiple versions of the test: Test A, Test B, Test C, ect, so cheating is virtually impossible. Focus on the basics. You should practice signs, laws, DMV and GDL process, along with penalties. 3. You will not lose points for skipping a question: You will see all skipped questions after answering the questions you do know. If you're unsure about a question, skip and come back later. There is never any reason for guessing!! If you're unsure, eliminate choices you know are not correct. DO NOT RUSH THE TEST. You have an entire hour to complete it. 3. Answer the questions you know for sure first. Don't waste time on one specific question. If you're ever unsure, remember to skip! You only need to get 40 questions correct out of a 50 question test. 4. Remember everyone, I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, in this test you only need to get 40 questions correct. Do not overthink questions YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER TO. You're guaranteed to not know at least one or two questions on the test, so minimizing the amount of questions you need to get to correct to past is essential. Skip on questions you do not know and return to those later. Use the process of elimation to get these answers. If you do these steps, CONGRATS, YOU JUST PAST.
This is a greatttt tip I wouldnt have thought to skip to my advantage honestly I was relying on all my studying ive been doing but ill keep that in mind.
I dunno how it used to be but this info was wrong when I took my tests on 9/27/21 in Texas. There was no skip button lol. You answered the questions as they were presented. I passed them all first try tho 😎

@@georgeetown4589 oh darn.. so that made you fail the whole test right ? Or is it like the permit test you only re do the part you failed like the driving only instead of pre trip and everything or you must do everything all over again ?
That skip button doesn't work in AZ. I skipped 3 questions and thoes 3 questions did not come up again at the end of the test.. Also in AZ you can retake the test soon as you want but, you must take all the test at the same time.
Same for Illinois. Also it counts as an attempt on all tests if you attempt and fail 1. So say I go to DMV and pay the $50 for the test, apply to be tested for Basic Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Combination. I pass the Basic Knowledge, fail the Air Brakes... that counts as an attempt on Combination vehicles even though I never got to try it.

My goodness that was an accomplishment!!! How did you know that you wanted all those endorsements?
How did you take Hazmat test in the same day as General Knowledge? Don’t you have to do a TSA background check and have your full blown CLass A license first?
I literally just took my cdl permit test I'm in Georgia I passed all 3 phases in maybe 30 mins General knowledge Combinations and Air brakes unfortunately it wasn't a skip button for me I could have used it for a few of those General Knowledge questions but hey I passed but literally get the CDL PREP app and just study I promise you 90% or more of the test were the same exact questions. Good luck
Can you tell me which cdl app to get there is several
@@graceleigh966 cdl prep the one its blue with a steering wheel
Really want to pass this test,I have a family and I really want to do trucking. Warehouse money is DEFINITELY NOT gonna pay my bills and take care of my family. Test on Monday. Will update if I pass or not🤘🏼
UPDATE🎊🎶‼ PASSED MY CDL WRITTEN TEST WOOOHOOO‼‼‼‼
@@bubbleslovesmichael81958 congrats bro
Thanks for your tips I just passed all the 3 exams in one day and I got my permit.
Im glad i saw this video.. i just took the test two weeks ago an failed because i did not pay attention to the skip question part 🤦♂️ thank you for this information
Howd you do?
@@youraveragejoe2 I passed after I used the technique in this video which worked very very well.. skip the ones you don't know an answer the ones you do know and I passed with 3 wrong answers
Jonathan, thank you for you information. I watched your videos and did practice test on e Permit. I was able to pass on the first time. The only thing you should update is that in Ga you can’t skip question.
This video helped me pass my test for my permit. Thank you 😊
CLP ?
In MD, it does not work this exact way. You have to make an appt, and you cannot take a break in between exams. Also, if you fail, you can come back the next day, so long as you make an appt.
God Bless you and your team thank you for your advice 🙏 from Texas I pray to God I pass the test 🙏
At our DMV you can take your CDL test twice a day everyday it’s $15 and you don’t have to keep repaying
Raven Plowden What?!In NC that shit is 40 dollars
Ari Reid 😲
Raven Plowden once a day and you only have 3 tries after that another 40
Ari Reid wow 😳 that's crazy
Raven Plowden i know tell me about it
I'm in dallas and what worked for me was that I didnt over work my self. GOOD LUCK!!
Thats great
I just passed my test today CDL writing test knowledge I’m so happy
Congrats Doina!
What is the cdl written test?
Hello, depending on the class you are going for, they are General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination (Class A) or Passenger (Class B)
Thought it was on computer
I take mines Monday fingers crossed!!
Thank you so much for nice tips... it was really helpful for my cdl permit test....
You are so cool...
Just took my permit test last month in GA. No Skip Button!!
I hade my dls for 7 years got it when i was 17 good luck guys
How did you get it at 17?? arent you supposed to be 18?
He's cappin
U can get it at 17 depends on your state lol capping about a dls lol i got my cdl so nothing to cap about lol
This can be very helpful unless you live in California, you don't have unlimited skip, you only have 3, and the test is timed. Everything else is true. Love your videos and great advice.
Thanks for the info and for your support!
I watched your videos and I Aced the in and out inspections & driving on the first try. Thank you posting these videos.
Happy to help, David. Congrats on passing!
Skipping is a good idea as future questions you know may give indicators to ones you skip or help jog your memory.
Took mine a few weeks ago in VA. Letting yall know that you have to take the entire test and hit submit. It doesn't tell you how many you have right or wrong anymore until you hit submit. This could be specific to va and a very recent change. The skip button tactic does still help though.
Thanks
@@roseweikle3931 yea man it was definitely nerve wracking going in expecting one way and it being different.
Are you driving for anyone? Im currently going cds in roanoke
@@roseweikle3931 I actually start school in Richmond in about a week I didn't realize I could have gotten my learners from the school. I'm told the only difference is ill get more road time because I won't need as much classroom time.
@@XPraterX nice didn't know that. I knew we had to have 160 hours of schooling including the driving in that. Our school allows you take the test two times after that you gotta go dmv. But there backed up from heck shew. Its Jan here to find an appointment. I wish you good luck man.
Took me 3 times to pass general knowledge by the third time I did it different. I took general knowledge went home next day came back took the other test instead of taking all at once. I'm in new York if you fail the test you don't have to wait a week to re test go back the next day
Thanks for the advice. The skipping technique should really help me out. Thanks a lot !!!
Great im glad
I haven’t studied much because I’m such a bad procrastinator and I take the text tomorrow. I’ve been watching this at work
I watched the TH-cam video for the hazmat while I was in line at the DMV, when I got to the counter I went in my cube, answered the EXACT same questions I just listened to and passed the test in 17 minutes tops. I was in and out like that. I recommend looking up all the videos on TH-cam and learning from there. It’s way easier than studying random sections in a book
Congrats Travis, we are glad to hear you passed!
Driving Academy | Car and CDL Truck Driving School Hahahahaha Thanks of course I’ve been driving 30 years LOL
Great =)
Omg THANK YOU. I listened to your suggestions on how to test. I passed all 3 of them ione after another from Florida to become a bus driver for Disney. I skipped like youou
Great job! Thanks for watching, Dawn, and congrats on passing!
In Indiana I had to take all the tests before I could even get my permit
I thought that was everywhere you have to pass the 3 tests before you can get your permit
You can choose your state.
you only have to wait 24hr to re-take the test in Michigan.
Is it free
No skip on the test here n no breaks in between tests
This guy knows his shit. That skip button is LITTY
Driving Academy is the best CDL school
Thank You
I must pass this so I can go to monster jam so this is gonna be my tip to be able to compete
Hey Freddy, we can GUARANTEE that you pass. Give us a call at 908.525.3609!
Did you pass and get to go to monster jam? How’s life been with your cdl if so?
Now to get Class B's, do you just take the general knowledge test and the air brakes? Getting it for driving a dump truck
yes no combinations for Class B but might as well go for A dont limit yourself
Do you have your class b license?
I nanny cases with that many questions.. other questions might answer the question that you skipped.
Awesome stuff!
Nope, just took the permit test last week. There is no skip button...
what state
nina somerville Tennessee
Some states are different
Our DMV we don't have a skip button. I have taken the general knowledge test 3 x's already and failed
Hey Shana, let us know if we can help you out! Good luck!
You gotta study a lot don’t give up, you can do it!
WOW ! Thanks a lot for important information on the CLP test !!
Thank you for that great advice.
This is a greatttt tip I wouldnt have thought to skip to my advantage honestly I was relying on all my studying ive been doing but ill keep that in mind.
Don’t expect to be able to skip questions in Georgia
I dunno how it used to be but this info was wrong when I took my tests on 9/27/21 in Texas.
There was no skip button lol. You answered the questions as they were presented.
I passed them all first try tho 😎
Special requirements first test in Texas
Yes, also not sure if we even have the skip button
Awesome video....going for my CDL....already studying and watching videos....... 🙏
Failed my 1st time 2 weeks ago..I'd know about the skip questions I seriously thought they would be marked incorrectly..the DMV workers didn't tell me anything about it
Sorry to hear that friend. Come check us out!
Yes if you don't know it skip then come back them it helps
Do you know if this is the same for California? The skip option
Thanks for the videos and help you are doing Good work and deserve the pay ..
Just passed my CDL permit today. Very helpful video/channel thank you!
quick question i suppose you used an app to study ?.. if so are the questions on the test literally wats on the test or its different ?
@@kingsleysarfo. it’s called “CDL prep” and yeah most of them are in there . I will recommend to take your time , re read questions slowly and use the skip button if needed on the test itself
@@kingsleysarfo. I also just took my CDL license test passed my pre trip and in cap but failed my driving due to running a orange/ red light so be careful
@@georgeetown4589 right.. yeah thank you man I passed the test the permit on March 17th
@@georgeetown4589 oh darn.. so that made you fail the whole test right ? Or is it like the permit test you only re do the part you failed like the driving only instead of pre trip and everything or you must do everything all over again ?
All dmv dont have skip option
Thanks for the help sir this is very important information
No problem Yusuf, happy to help!
Passed the first time! Thanks guys!
Congratulations, Joe! Thanks for watching
