I can say this, I love the knives you got on your Facebook and cant wait to see more videos. You did a fantastic job and really enjoyed your videos, keep em coming,
Loragan Moore thanks for the kind words. I'm hoping to start uploading more here right away. Will probably be following my journey in learning how to forge blades and other items along with stock removal like I've been doing.
and Also you might want to get an actual website so you can show off your knives instead of using facebook. I do webdesign and can help you set one up, I will assist and am in no way wanting to sell my services to you. IF you need help with that email me and I will be happy to help.
Incredible work son!!! Love the blade!! Love the leather work even more!!! Keep up the kick ass work brother! I'll follow u with great anticipation!!! And I'd be proud to rock that baby on ma hip partner!!!
This was cool. Very nice sheat, good work. it is something about leather that I really like.. I do a little leatherwork myself, and I`d finish two sheaths today, and one of those was very similar to the sheath you made now. - Keep up the good work.
Really nice craftsmanship. Good work. Here a little advice on video production. Hope this helps and good luck with the channel. 1. Remember where the camera is centered. Sometimes you go out of frame and we can't see what you are doing. Pullback on the camera a little and mark the area with some tape to know where the frame ends. 2. Do not place camera on the table when working. It jumps and goes out of focus when you hit. Place a tripods next to table pointing down so vibrations are not a factor. 3. Sometimes you are out of focus. Most hand held video cameras focus at 6 to 8 feet so keep that in mind. If you want your face AND hands in focus, 8:10, they need to be in the same focal point. Have the camera focused on your face and hold your hand near your face when showing the work.
Hay that was cool man ,,like the sheath very much ,,id like to see the video on knife build ,im interested in making knifes an sheaths ,,,keep up the good work ,you did a great job you have a real tallent ,( with all do respect ,try to relax when on camera )thank you for showing your skill
I like the way you made a small patch to cover the rivet on the inside of the sheath to protect the knife from scratches. I asked another TH-camr wasn't he worried about scratches, he replied, nope never had that problem. Nice editing down, I didn't have to fast forward. You might need a bigger hammer. lol I know its a Mallet. Liked Subscribed. nice work !
that s very cool I want to make a knife one day I've been doing kydex sheath so it's a start, looks like you are very happy making something you like keep it upb
This is amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your craft! My Hubby is getting us knives for our Anniversary and I'm going to make the sheaths. Can you tell me what type of glue you use for your leather please, as well as the other items you put in it to polish it. Thank you again! Blessings, Tiffany
Great job would have been nice to see the names of all the supplies you used as I don't work with leather as I usually prefer kydex would have been handy to see what was in all the bottles. Anyways great work!
Jacob999999999W For dyes I used fiebings oil die (dark brown) and for finishes I used a boot oil on the outside and fiebings tan coat on the inside. I also used snow seal on the outside (that's when I was heating with the hair dryer)I also used just plain water to burnish the edges.
Pasquale Franze, you can! there is lots of tutorials one the internet. the tools can be pricey but you don't have to buy everything right off the bat. pick a project do your research and find a leatherworking shop then just pick up the tools you need for that project. keep doing that and before you know it you'll have a whole set
I want to do more projects where I replicate things from movies or games! Comment your ideas and also would you rather see the bandolier from uncharted 3 or the holster from uncharted 4?
I have so many questions for you but it wouldn't be fair to ask them here. Well, one maybe. I saw you drill rather than punch the holes for the stitching/lacing. Smart idea. I only saw you pull two heavy cords threw, tie them off then flame them. With that cord you used a needle. What about the rest that appear to have been done with white stitching? It didn't look like it was done by machine but (maybe I missed it) I don't think you touched on how you stitched the rest of the sheath? Did you use a saddle making awl to stitch it up? If doing it by hand that's what I would have done. You did a good job, this is a nice, strong looking sheath.
rickd248, Thanks. Sometimes I drill the stitch holes instead of punching but I have done both before. For thicker chunks like this drilling can be faster. Also the entire sheath was hand stitched with a saddle stich. The area that looked white you are referring to was probably where I marked the leather to recess the stitching and help prevent wear. Because I cut those lines after dyeing it went back to the natural colour and had to be re dyed. I just cut most of the stitching process out because it's boring to do and even worse to watch.
Great work! Just a tip: Watch the camera focus on the next videos, sometimes it's difficult to see what's happening. Other than that, excellent job on the sheath!
So I've been real interested in making a sheath like this but I lm a bit concerned on how the knife will stay in the sheath with out a strap or something holding it in. Do you just make the sheath so tight that it stays in on its own without a strap? If so what keeps the leather from wearing in overtime and making the fit to loose? Thanks for any advice! I'm not new to knife making but I'm very new to making sheaths and leather working in general.
Hi! Yes I just undersized the welt a bit so that it was very tight. When I first made it it was tight enough it would not shake out. After time though it did become looser, not to the point I would worry about it falling out in a horizontal position but it could shake out for sure. I have experimented with a kydex and leather combo which seems to work very well, that’s what I would recommend for a knife you regularly carry and is what I have done with my edc which is the same style of sheath as this but with the kydex core.
@@KyleMeyer949 ok thanks for the info!! I've watched that Jurassic park movie a few times just trying to figure the sheath out and with all the running, jumping, and sliding around that Owen Grady does in that movie and the knife seems to just stay locked in some how. I can't make them tight enough lol
@@Barncat01 Kydex is not needed if you know how to work beeswax into a leather sheath. I’d recommend a 60-70% beeswax to 30-40% neatsfoot oil mixture as a starting point until you learn how to make your own proprietary beeswax treatment. Melt the beeswax in a pot or tray big enough to fit your sheath and add in the neatsfoot oil as the beeswax melts. Mix the two well and then dip the sheath in until you see a slight color change. It will darken the leather a bit. When you pull out the sheath. It will have some wax residue on it. At this point you want to put the sheath into an oven at around 150 degrees and leave it in there until you see the excess wax has dripped off. You need to make sure the leather never passes 180 degrees in temp or you’ll risk damaging the fibers. At this stage. You’ll want to insert your knife and mould the sheath really well to the shape of the knife and leave it to dry with the knife still in the sheath. When all is said and done. You’ll have a product just as secure as kydex without all of the cons that kydex presents. This process will last you many many years of hard use and will only require some slight maintenance until it’s time to give the sheath another dip. Hope this helps.
Just stumbled upon your video and you knife and sheath work are absolutely amazing. Any chance you would be interested in making a sheath like this for similar knife?
Hello, I typically only do leather projects for knives I made, it’s kinda logistically difficult to do one for someone’s knife unfortunately so as of now I don’t, sorry
bad ass! is there a way to maybe alter a sheath I already own and I also don't have any experience with leather working sooooo.......plus I got the knife and sheath when I was eleven from my parents and I'm scared to death ill screw it up and be s.o.l. any tips?
RL da Vinci8 can’t really say anything for sure without knowing what it is and what you want to do to it but it could be pretty hard as pieces are usually not just stitched but also glued together
Kylejom I was just messing around with it and I can actually put part of it thru the two loops in the back of my outdoorsman pants and it works fairly well but the heavier bottom part of the sheath kinda weighs down a little so I think I'll try paracord wrapped around my belt. ive wanted to wear the knife horizontally for a while and didn't even notice the Jurassic world thing so it doesn't have to look as cool as that although it does look pretty Damn cool and urs looks just like it. thanks for the reply!!!
Kylejom you should make the sheath that Peter Dinklage's character, tyrian lannester, his lackey carries a horizontal bowie style dagger in the small of his back; it's really kool. (on game of thrones) anyway I like your work
Kylejom not the little guy but his lackey that he hired to protect him in season two and I'm only on season 3 now and this guy is still alive so far so definitely season's 2&3 for a reference point
Strobelight_Epilepsy _Ff I'm not sure if I'd be willing to, I'd be willing to make you a knife but because this is a sort of copy of another makers knife I don't want to take his business and would recommend you buy it from him if you are looking for a true replica of the movie knife. His name is Steve auvenshine. If you google that and Jurassic world you should be able to finds contact info eventually. If you want me to make one I suppose I could but just know I'm not claiming it to be a replica and I know for sure it's not perfectly accurate.
Alex Han G. Sing on my Facebook page in the description. But you should know I prefer not to make this specific knife to sell as I feel I’m taking business from the original maker

Good looking knife and sheath. Looks Good!
People should watch this guy more I’m mean look how hard he’s working for that amazing sheath! Respect
Intense. Nice to see some craft for a fellow left handed blade carrier. Stay sharp and vigilant!
Great video, you really nailed the music. I usually see videos like this use music that doesn't fit but you did a great job!
Great video. Loved it. And the knife and sheath too.

Great job
Cool Video 👍
Very nice!
Beautiful!
Dude....you make this look so easy! Do any custom orders? I'd order one of those.
Same here
Nice job!
Incredible work! & great video. Would you make a sheath like this for a knife of mine? I would greatly appreciate it

Outstanding
Do you make knife shelves by custom order ?

Are you taking order's for this knife?
Nice job, thanks...
Great work! Just a tip: Watch the camera focus on the next videos, sometimes it's difficult to see what's happening. Other than that, excellent job on the sheath!
Wilson Felipp will do, the auto focus on my camera sucks so I've been trying to use manual but don't always get it quite right
I missed the method of belt loop attachment and could not see any provided. Can you tell us how that was done?
robert devine I’m working exclusively on the belt loop from 5.57 to 7.50. It’s just on with a snap
What do you charge to make a sheath for someone? Thanks. Great video.
Knife Nut depends a lot on the knife and the design of the sheath. Send me an email and we can discuss what I'd be making. 2kylemeyer2@gmail.com

excellent job¡¡
awesome
Will a shoe polish work as a dye
D _ probably not. I think it would wipe off way to quickly. Leather dye is easy to find just look up a local leather store
Bravo!!
