Grew up in Alberta. I worshipped buffalo, and used to thrill to the thought of hundreds of them stampeding across the plain.The sound would make you think the earth was opening up!
elk island is a magical place. I still get chills when I see a wild herd. how many times have you seen the scene in dances with wolves? for me it's about a thousand. I am hoping to make a trip to wood buffalo park next summer, maybe I'll get lucky and see a herd thundering across a bald.

Been going all over Yellowstone since I was a kid.....have seen some wild fights between bison, and elk, especially during rut. The males are so hyped up, they get mad if the wind blows wrong lol.

These magnificent creatures are incredibly powerful. What a thrilling display! Those bison bulls are easily 1600 lbs or more each, & capable of flipping a pickup truck.
I'll never understand why tourons think they can just walk right up to one & take a selfie.

I just noticed that these bulls have tiny testicles. Nothing like domestic bulls.
They weren't having a fair dinkhim fight. Their tails always stand straight up when they really want to fight to win.
I'm curious as to how you know that. They did seem a little casual, at first, but worked up a convincing rumble. to my ears. I know nothing about bison, of course.
