I adopted a cat at Petsmart. They said it was a year and a half old. It ended up being pretty sick. They didn’t know exactly what was wrong. I ended up taking it to a third vet. She was known as the cat whisperer. She told me the cat was 12 years old. And she was just declining. $2000 later I ended up with no cat after a month and a half. Be careful who you’re getting it from.
Petsmart sucks. They don’t even care about the beta fish and they throw away live animals, my friend got a tortoise from them and the tortoise was super sick and died soon
A couple notes, in case people don't know: the adoptions at Petsmart are not run by the store, but are run by local rescues. Different rescues will have different rules, of course, but a reputable rescue will definitely have a form that needs filling out and will do various checks to make sure that the adopters will be good pet parents. The rescue that we have adopted from called our vet and required three references. They also would have contacted our landlord - if we were renters - to make sure we were in a place that allowed pets. Reputable rescues will also want you to get your new family member a vet appointment right away; the rescue will have taken care of important vaccinations and spaying/neutering, but they want your vet to meet your new pet and get a baseline idea of what their health is like. The rescue will usually call a week or two after the adoption just to make sure everyone is settling in okay. Finally, many rescues will not let you take your new friend home on the day your submit your paperwork (because they need to check references and such); so if you know you want to adopt, but just aren't sure of which kitty or kitties you want, ask if you can fill out the paperwork ahead of time and just leave the name of the cat blank. This allows them to "pre-approve" you so you have a better chance of picking out a kitty and taking them home that day. :) Happy adopting!
That’s how our adoption process is going and it’s a first for me. I understand making sure the reasons but it’s so stressful and I’m worried we will end up with a grown cat instead of the kitten we fell in love with by the time this is all wrapped up. Hopefully we will have him by next week though, it just feels a lot more stressful than past adoptions. I get it though.

I was hoping to read this in the comments here. I found a stray mom cat and her litter under my shed a month and a half ago. I'm no foster but by doing everything slow and kind I was able to get them to trust me and for the past two weeks they've been in my house with me. Mom (Oreo is her name) is going to a petsmart rescue today and is already vaccinated/spayed and tested for FHIV/Luek (neg on both). The little ones (Sentry, Rumor and Button - about 9 weeks old) are scheduled for later in the week to get their spaying/vaccinations and then they go to the same rescue/store. I was surprised and super glad the rescue out of a petsmart near me was so amazing (FoSOCAS is the abbreviation). It's been a tough day for me today (crying pretty much non-stop) knowing she's going to leave but I feel really good knowing the rescuers will ensure she gets a good forever home. Thank you again for the comment Ikwigsjoyful - it helps calm me to know the rescues care about the animals as much as I do.
@@Lotaeri1973rlldi I'm happy that it helped; most people who work in animal rescue have very strong feelings about the creatures they're trying to help, so they want to make sure that the cats (or dogs or rabbits, etc.) end up with a family who will love and value them, even if that means having to do a lot of extra work checking things out. We've been feeding a feral black cat. She's adorable and sweet, but very skittish. Luckily there are volunteers who care for her. I wish we could take her in, but my husband and in-laws are allergic, and our dog doesn't like cats. 😕
I have 8 cats . They all came to me and I didn’t even have to leave my house LOL . 2 pregnant momma cats both had 3 each . Three girls and three boys . 🥰🥰

My cat is a rescue kitten. I found it struggling and almost dead near a highway when it was about 15-18 days. He's a mixed breed between Mau and Bangla cat. He's almost 3 months now. I only adopted him because i couldn't let him die. Taking to vet again for the fourth time soon
13 years ago I adopted a cat from Petsmart. She is my pretty girl and loves her food. 😂 I have 2 others that showed up one day that are now indoor cats and a fourth cat that lives outside but she is fierce!

Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary always has adoption at Petco and many other pet stores. The woman that is in charge of it, I used to help her out a lot. It was so much fun being able to play with the animals and watching them get adopted.
My boys were essentially raised in a cage & it broke my heart to see these two brothers living in such cramped quarters. They were 10 months old. I'd gone to the shelter to adopt a cat for companionship since I was all alone at the time. The sign said they were closed because of covid & that all adoptions were being handled through PetSmart. After looking around, there was one Tuxedo in particular that was trying desperately to get my attention. He was so sweet & when they brought him out so I could interact with him, it was clear that he was choosing me for his new "mommy". They informed me that the two were brothers & a bonded pair that couldn't be separated, so I'd have to take both. No problem, I was thrilled to get them both! They were so scared when they first came home, but after two days they started coming out of their hiding place. They quickly warmed up to me it was obvious that they loved their new home & having some room to romp. They really loved looking out the windows, watching birds & squirrels. Who knows, maybe they'd never seen any before. I wound up having a screened-in porch built with enhanced screening material so they could get a taste of the outdoors without having to face any of the dangers of the outside world. Then a neighbor installed a cat door so they can go in & out without having to wait for me to open the front door for them. They totally love this! I'm so thankful to have them, and I'm sure they feel the same 🥰
Ive only gotten one cat from pet smart (others are just from different rescues) and the one we got was the fluffy shy one. After one uear she still doesnt really let people pet her but she is slowly warming up.
I adopted a kitten from Petsmart. The kitten was a rescue cat from Stray Rescue. She was my favorite "Hello and my hardest Goodbye". My beloved Summer lived with me for twenty years, she was 96 in human years, when she passed away. I'm grateful we found each other at Petsmart.

My local Petsmart gets their cats from a shelter and I had an elderly dog at the time so I didn't want to get a cat from the shelter directly because I was worried he might catch something from the shelter. I even triple checked that they weren't getting kittens from a mill but they weren't so it was the perfect option for me. (Cat is my pfp by the way)

I find this ironic i just adopted my cat (Indica/Indo) almost a week ago and let me just say although he made me upset throwing up all over my bed AT NIGHT but he is so lovable he's a Blue Russian so now that he's settling down he's demanding of pets and scratches 😆😆 (still scared a tiny tiny bit because we are huge to him id be scared to😅) AND he was free from a local adoption agency so if you are looking for a kitty LOCAL ADOPTION AGENCY lets give them kittens some homes🥰🥰
I adopted my first kitty (swoosh) from petsmart. She was a senior black cat. She ended being diabetic and i gave her insulin 2x a day. She passed oct 2022. I miss her so much. But i now got cece who is 2 came from a foster and wasabi hes 11 and I got him from pet refuge. His former owner passed and the family couldn’t keep him. Seniors are so loving!

I'm sorry for the money u spent but i think for that cat it must have been relief to spend his last days at home being loved.
At least the one thing you know is while he was suffering he still got to pass on with his loving parent(s)
