  • This tutorial shows you how to weave a pouch using just simple things like cardboard and pins.
This project is designed as one piece so it has no seams to sew. You can use yarn or fabric strips.

Just a suggestion for folks but perhaps the under-over each thread could be done as the very first pass, then it saves you doing that at the end. I would also consider doing the under-over of each thread in the swoop of the flap on the first pass, giving that nice curved edge, then go on to do the under-over two from the tip and add as you go as you did. I hope that makes sense. It would save all the fiddly weaving at the end :) Just a thought though, some people might find it easier to do it exactly the way you have shown. Great video, thank you for sharing. T x

Yes, that does make sense. It is "six of one and half a dozen of the other"😅, but nice to know there are the two options. Thanks for this suggestion👍🙂

@@libbysmigelski4147 Unfortunately sometimes just because it makes sense in our head that does not mean others will understand it in written form lol but I am glad you got it in the end. :) T x

You could still do 2 strands, just start between the pins so the loops are secured from the get go! When you get to the edges where you wrap around, you'll be back to having 2 strands, just one on each side of the card.

If you start at the bottom, with the first row of weaving along the edge space between the front and the back, you can make the bottom more firm, where it gets the most wear. By starting at the bottom, you and weave the loops as a row, and finish the curve as its own row. This will eliminate a couple of steps and fewer ends to weave by finishing the warp loops last.

When I was younger and putting myself through college I worked at a big manufacturing place where I weaved in big huge machines. I worked myself up to 21 and I would have to walk around all night and make sure they were working, checking to make sure there were no defects in it. If the machines stopped I would have to figure out what happened and sometimes that invoked looking to see which ones of the tiny threads broke and doing a weavers knot to get the two ends back together.
It was hard work for 8 hours a night before going to class the next day but it was full filling bc I was making something that looked completely different from start to finish.
I wonder if one of these threads break if you would do a weavers knot to put the two ends back together and it blend in the same way?
It’s been years but I would enjoy making something like with a weavers technique by hand instead of by machine. Thank you for the video!

This is so cool! I've never seen this before and I can't wait to give it a try. The texture is wonderful. I like the effect on the edge of the flap - it looks like a row of rustic stitching. Thank you so much for this great demonstration.

There are joins in knit and crochet that eliminate the tails. Another option to hide tails would be taken from tatting - lay the tails along the warp and weave over them.
