Tom, thanks for the tour following my request you sure have a nice shop with excellent tooling and 2 handsome, clearly well cared for dogs. Keep sharing young man, it is much appreciated. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.
I'm number 273 on the subscriber list... Nice shop mate. I will have to do a new shop tour video one of these days. Mine is so out dated and I have extended my shop 2 fold with many new toys and machines. Bugger you have shamed me into it..... Stay tuned. LOL
Great tour! Very nice shop, well organized. But I think the foam exposed is a huge fire hazard. My building is foamed too. But all exposed foam had to be completely enclosed.
Thanks Jim. This foam won't burn. Not sure what is in it. I have pulled off pieces and tried to light them on fire. Anyways see my video series on my new shop since I have moved.
Tom your shop looks like a true man cave with the foam insulation. LOL - Nice supply of fasteners. - Love my RR dovetail cutter.- Nice shop. - I'm number 241 on your subscribers.
Tom, have you checked with *All Industrial Tool Supplies* for tool holders for the Monarch Lathe Dorian Tool Post? allindustrial.com/ By the way, I like that lathe!
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 I noticed your beast in the shop. I sell used Jeep parts on eBay. Specializing in YJ and TJ. I also dabble in XJ ZJ and WJ. JimSource eBay if you ever need anything. Send a message. I'm just a one-man operation so I usually have a lot of stuff that's not listed in my store yet. Also just bought my first lathe which is what brought me to your video. It will take an awful lot of Jeep parts to get my shop to that level. LOL
Tom, you have a real nice shop. That Monarch Lathe is as old as me 1964. I have one of those wooden machinist boxes just like yours. And our shapers are one no. apart. Thanks for the shop tour! Greg.
I could spend days in your shop. Very nice setup. I’ll give a tour of sorts soon as I finish moving everything around. Always like your videos. Still trying to acquire some tools, measuring devices I’ll need. Not really sure what I need since I’m just starting out. What advice would you give someone like me about which tools to purchase. Be easy on me, 59 and retired with limited income and almost zero machining knowledge. Making those great videos for us, especially the newbies. You are appreciated. Have a wonderful day sir. Ron
Hill Top Machine Works Well, in a few minutes I’m going to start the Hilltop machine watchathon, if that’s a word. It’s 0600 hrs and I’ve been up since 0400. Surfing the internet for tools, ideas, and just plain stuff. Out to Ron’s garage I go to fire up the flat screen and start watching. Have a nice day Tom.
very nice. To use you car lift looks like you have to move the big lathe. Looks like you are going to have to do some rearranging of the shop. Looks great
Thanks Bill. Yeah I built the shop in 2004 for Jeep and truck work. That dried up in 2010 when the economy went south. I started buying machinery and changed to a small machine shop. Thanks for subbing also.
ive been looking at a south bend 2VH mill that uses r8 tooling and is beefier than a bridgeport but i cant find much info on it what is your opinion about it sir
They look like a Bridgeport clone. It should be a decent machine if you can get it for a good price. Variable speed is a lot better than belt changing also.
Your big monarchs original home is not too far from where I used to live! Pretty cool shop man, i hope to get to that level one day :)
Oh wow. That’s pretty cool. I will be putting out a new shop video tour pretty soon.

@@hilltopmachineworks2131 I'm a new subscriber. Nice shop
You could hot wire cut the foam flat and white tyvex the ceiling for better lighting
Neat. I only wish I had that much room
Thanks. It fills up fast.
Is that insulation fire proof?
It is at least fire resistant. It would not ignite when I tried to set some pieces on fire to test it.
Cool setup! How did you mount the small toolbox to the bottom of the lathe bed? I'm definitely stealing that idea.
I bolted the top of the box to the bottom of the chip pan.
Were did you get your apron? What brand? Thanks for showing your shop!
I got it from Amazon. Search NY sky cargo ink black apron. Thanks for watching.
Hi is that spray insulation fire proof?
Yes. It doesn’t burn.
