- Rudy was dubbed the Godfather of Latino comedy by fans and fellow comedians because he was a dedicated mentor to many Latino comics, but also to all aspiring comedians. For over two decades Rudy hosted the Ice House Latino night giving stage time to many up and coming comedians that would not other wise get stage time in Los Angels and he also created a home for veteran comics to come and work their magic. Being a host and booking shows is considered one the toughest gigs in comedy because you have to support and let others shine. George lopez, Arsenio Hall, Gabriel Iglesias, ken Jeong, Craig Schumacher, Craig Robinson and many more headliners considered these shows with Rudy to be home and would frequent Rudy’s shows over the years.
In addition to being an accomplished guitar player, Rudy performed with Tiera and had his own band, "Voodoo Sindicate". Rudy and his family also created Komics for Kids, an event designed to assist inner-city children where Rudy would perform comedy and music.
Throughout his career, Rudy lent his comedy chops to the world of television. The comedian appeared on numerous TV shows, including "Pacific Blue," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "ER," "George Lopez" and "Criminal Minds”, “Arrested Development”, “Monk”, “Judging Amy” Father Stu (2022), The Shield (2002) and Kingpin (2003)
This special titled, Rudy Moreno “Rude” originally premiered on the Showtime Network as part of the LOL Comedy Festival Series. If you had never had the chance to see Rudy perform his own stand-up comedy set we hope this will brighten your day.
Rudy Moreno was born on July 24, 1957 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He died on May 11, 2024 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

In the late 90’s my dad went to a comedy show and saw Rudy and purchased a CD “ No Looking Back”. We listened to that cd all the time when we were on long drives and would laugh and laugh. My dad passed 2 years ago and I’m soooo thankful for those memories and just hearing Rudy’s voice takes me back. Rip 💐

Sweet Rudy, rest in peace. Old time friend. Knew you and Richard way back, when you would spin records for the dancers. Then disco died, glad you found your true calling. You always had a way of telling a story that had your sides splitting. Hope you, Rudy & Steve are having a great time reunited. All of you gone too soon. ❤
