Making our lives meaningful
Confining bodily injury, even when temporary, is not only physically devastating but also psychologically isolating, leading to poor quality of life, depression, and other mental health problems. Reduced mobility can make it hard to leave the house and carry out important activities concerning one’s survival. Improvements in mental health through real-life-based needs can assist with recovery from physical injury and help in returning to work faster. The strength of one’s social support network is a potentially modifiable factor that may have a significant impact on recovery after injury. Identifying such socially weak members of our community provides an opportunity for intervention to positively influence an otherwise poor quality of life, in many cases that of the whole family if the impacted person happens to be the sole breadwinner of the family. Therefore, to make our lives meaningful, let us look for such persons around us or even far away from us and help them with respect and love, in whatever way possible.
