"Sitting by the window - watching the snow fly" is the static on the TV screen behind her. Her violin has a tape head where the bridge would be. The bows have pieces of tape recordings that she plays on the "violin", that's why she tosses/changes the bows, to get different sounds. The keyboardist is Joy Askew (Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Rodney Crowell) and the electric guitar player is Adrian Belew (founded King Crimson, played with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, Nine Inch Nails as well as 25+ LPs of his own).
Adrian Belew was in one incarnation of King Crimson during the 80's. Robert Fripp was actually the founder of King Crimson. The group started in the late 60's.
I'm a girl of the 80s and she holds a lot of great memories for me. Peter Gabriel and Laurie collaborated on several projects.

They collaborated on the song. His version on So is This is the Picture. Her version Excellent Birds was on her Home of the Brave album. Both came out in '86 I think.
