    One little advice. Don't lock the steaming valve each time you use it. It is better for longevity to stop turning when steam stops coming out

      I meant not to turn the valveball the way until it can't be turned any more.

    Dude you have a rinsing thingy!! 😍 Going to go out on a limb here and say your grind was too course. That was a watery pull and blonding far too soon. Extremely envious of that steam pressure. You have an amazing setup there bro!

      I did have a rinsey thing haha, though it has since been moved on due to it being so much work to keep clean! Twas slightly overkill for a home setup.

    Near 10 bars of pressure at the group head is a big no. Ideally the pump pressure should be set at 9 bars and the pressure at the group head must be around 8 - 8.5 bars. There must be a screw under the machine for adjusting pump pressure, therefore changing the pressure at the group head as well.

    What's the reason for transferring the milk to a second pitcher

    • @itsjasondavies
      @itsjasondavies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s slightly bigger so it means you can get the tip of the milk jug closer to the coffee. As well as this steaming in the smaller jug is easier and less wasteful when I only need a small amount of milk for a single flat white.

    Is Jug rinser plumbed into a main waterline or are you using a water tank with a pump under the counter? Looking at doing something like what you have done.

      Wondering the same thing, very impressive

    • @itsjasondavies
      @itsjasondavies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a water tank under the counter so it is fully isolated from the mains. I did it this way as my station isn't directly near a water source and also allows it to be easily moved. For a home setup it is pretty overkill and probably more work than its worth with the filling and emptying but its really cool :)

      @@itsjasondavies I'd love to see a video on that setup. Sure it might be overkill but isn't buying $5,000 - $6,000 worth of coffee gear for a couple coffee's a day overkill as well? We do it because we enjoy it, and for that, its hard to put a price tag on it.

    Thanks for the video. Frankly the product doesn't seem my kind of espresso, the "honey-coloured" crema is typically obtained at the end of the extraction, or it's a sign of an overall problem. I would grind finer, compress more, insert the portafiltro inside the group head with some force, and aim for a brown crema and an overall thick brew. That said, I have no idea what kind of roasting was employed for your coffee and it might well be that the coffee is delicious, only it doesn't appear very normal to me. Also, an espresso is usually more "oily" and it will coat the side of your cup when you whirl it, this cup seems too "watery" to me. That said, each one his own, coffee is not science is personal taste.
    As a side note, I think there is some American cultural influence here. I have the impressions that Americans are always "skewed" toward an American coffee (more "watery") than Italians, both when they make an espresso or when they use a Moka.
