Daniel is absolutely right. Sorry to say it but Kelly doesn't really understand EU politic. No wonder, I don't think I understand US politic despite much of my time watching American TV 2020 because of the election.
And Trump made it very obvious we, EU, have to care about our own security. I guess many Americans would see as the right thing and only proper. Many Europeans are beginning to see that as a necessity.
The fact is for some time US began to look and to be more interested in Asia than in Europe. And additionally to that with such instability being the divided country like US right now, it would be very foolish for EU to rely on US. The next republican president would probably stop to see EU as the allies.
And no, France with Macron as the leader is very much in favor of the EU military. And who knows with new German chancellor perhaps we'll stop to be the "Spaßbremse".

I really doubt that Europe has to spend more. Even with current spending an EU military budget would be the 2nd highest in the world and far greater than that of Russia and bigger than China's. The problem is that we have 27 separate militaries, not a lack of spending.
Europe spends more, then Russia and China spend more. The guys who like that are corporations who receive all that money.
Time to spend less. We can all threaten mutual destruction with less money wasted.
a european military would really reduce defense spending in the single member countries, as unneccesary redundant structures could be removed.
so even with significantly lowered defense spending in the member nations, a combined eu military would be with ease the second strongest military in the world.
@@zhufortheimpaler4041 I don't think so. The EU is a confederation of nations. Those nations will all keep their defense capabilities fully functional, regardless of their willingness to also have a common EU military structure.
If an EU military gets created it will be in addition to national forces. While in theory redundancies could be reduced, I don't be see that happening in the foreseeable future.
@@oerthling wrong, the EU will use the same structures as the countries. In fact, once Russia is cleaned out of the map the spending will go down a bit. And that is not if, is just a matter of when it is going to happen.

Hilariuos video. Right on time for the Munich Security Conference. You nailed it (again) on many points. Ironic how France is advocating on behalf of NATO membership and Poland is asking Germany to increase military spending. And of course they all talk about the wrong points like where to situate headquarters... Rear mirrors on french tanks - rofl. Interseting point on Canad, though. However, this is a very important (and necessary) discussion that has been put off far to long out of a mixture of complacency and fiscal needs. Europe (or the European countries) has a lot of homework to do here. Best wishes to D.C.

yeah there were a few hypocrisies included in this video (like France being completely defensive about NATO despite having left NATO in the past) and Sweden claiming to not intervene. i think i should've found a way to call them out more directly in the sketch. lesson learned and i appreciate the feedback!

thank you!! i guess you could say that it's personal. i started paying more attention to EU politics when i moved to Turkey in 2014 - their political situation fascinated me (and continues to fascinate me) and the natural extension of that was following EU politics. i'm very happy you liked the video :)

Way off the mark considering that Sweden employed soldiers for various Nato missions (including Afghanistan btw), and is in its own military partnership with the other Scandinavian countries. If anything the US should thank Sweden for bleeding for the US mistakes....

The most efficient army is sitting in the US, because the EU need no army.. Try to explain.
the actual planning would remove major redundancies like separate supply chains, command structures, bureaucracy and logistics and combine them in one bigger military.
this would in the end free very large sums of funding wich could be allocated more efficiently.
also certain member states could increase their specialisation in certain areas, without loosing out on the whole military package.
like germany with command structures, logistics, support, pioneer units, the netherlands with their amphibious units etc.
if properly organised it could be extremly efficient in deployment and finances for every member

That's just awesome! It was always difficult to understand the complicated political relationships between different countries, until "Kelly does her thing". The script for this episode is brilliant.
Dear Kelly, as a European it would of course be very exciting if you, as an "insider", told us about the relations between the US states in the same way. So that it doesn't get too complex, you can summarize the less important ones in a specific character. And then I would ask a TV broadcaster on the side. What you're doing there deserves its own format at prime time. Is this genere some kind of satire, or how would you rate yourself? Simply KELLY, in a class of its own! Greetings from Bremen. I actually have some ideas for doing sketches featuring different US states as characters but wasn't sure if anyone would like to see them so i will admit i'm a bit relieved to see that you seem to have the same thought. looks like i have a few more shirts to buy hahaha greetings from DC!! :)
Are you kidding Kelly? What you're doing is absolutely awesome. Not only is the way of narrating certain objects (in this case states) incredibly entertaining and therefore memorable, but you also have a special talent as an actress. I can't even begin to imagine how you go about organizing these long dialogues when recording. I.e. I assume that you also have the talent of a director. Lol, yes in a few more shirts it will be ... and wigs, mustaches, various headgear could emphasize the individual characters even better and increase the entertainment factor. One more tip: In order to make your elaborate work as timeless as possible and therefore attractive in the long term, don't necessarily tell current political events, but rather something timeless, perhaps historical. Only the subject matter of the conversation is important. Example: the US states meet in a bar and talk about the last presidents. I'm looking forward to. And as soon as I can, I'll ask you where I can support you financially. Your talent deserves a lot more attention.

6:30 I wish people would quit joking about the "bravery" of France in war. I read about the French resistance in the war. The reason the French surrendered like they did was because the French *GOVERNMENT* was utterly incompetent and totally unprepared for war when it came. but the people of France were incredibly brave. It was amazing what they did, and when you joke about them surrendering so easy, you dishonor that bravery.
It is a joke. Not a dick. Don't take it so hard.
We all know of the resistance bravery.
my favorite book i've read so far about the french resistance is "A Woman of No Importance" which, and please don't get upset about this, is about Virginia Hall - an American who convinced Britain to hire her as a spy for SOE where she was embedded in France and worked tirelessly (with only one leg by the way) to coordinate attacks, collect intel, recruit resistance fighters, and rally support for the resistance. her story is incredible and i know it's only one of the many stories of brave men and women who risked their lives and the lives of their loved ones and contacts to rise up against Nazi Germany.
if a person making a joke about France in this manner is completely uneducated and uninformed about history, then i wouldn't say they're "dishonoring" the bravery of the resistance fighters...i would instead say they are ignorant to their bravery. but i hope you understand that i am not uniformed about the French resistance and while I will readily admit that I still have so much to learn, and will forever be a student of history, my joke is in no way intended to dishonor their bravery. i hold the deepest respect for them and can only hope that if i had been in their shoes, i would've been able to act with such incredible courage.
i appreciate the feedback - i think it's important to have discussions about what's appropriate to say and not to say, even when it comes to comedy. and thanks for continuing to support my channel.

This is what happens when really talented people have an idea and are passionate about implementing it. I would say 80% of German caberetists could learn something here. And 100% should take a look at this ... By the way, even a chart about the supposedly so culturally related Nordic countries (NOR, SWE, FIN, DEN) would hint at the dilemma: If you take the 3 criteria NATO membership, EU membership and EURO as means of payment, there are no two that are alike.
