Great naming change from Yonex to limit confusion and streamline marketing for the racket. Can't wait to see where Yonex brings the line in coming generations!
Glad to see your excitement about the Percept! Why do you feel it’s suited for high intermediates and advanced players given the low 315 sw, great stability, plus descent power and spin? Sounds like quite a user friendly player’s frame
It is! I consider myself low intermediate and this racquet works really well for me. Small head size but sweet spot is huge and put it back to back with a 100 and you’ll see how small the differences is. Plus smaller head size works great do 1 hand backhand. For me, control is higher premium than extra spin potential and excessive power that’s hard to reign in.
It's definitely user-friendly considering its VERY "player's frame" profile but this is still a 21mm beamed, 97 so, yes, it's stable but you still need a full stroke to get the most out of the frame.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouverCould you please do a comparison between the Percept 100D and Gravity Pro? or do you think it should be between the Percept 97D and Gravity Pro?

What do you think?
Thank You for the indepth review of Percept 97. Spot on as always. The name change from Vcore Pro was necessary in my opinion too. It is very good that Yonex stiffened the head in these Percepts also, cause they are not so desperate for lead any more. I am very curious of your opinion on Percept 100D and Percept 100. It would be great to see your reviews on these racquets also. I was playing with Ezone Tour 98 2022 for a while, but due to balance and high swingweight it was too difficult to whip efficiently on some high speed balls coming at me. That is why I switched to regular Ezone 98 2022, which is much better in that regard, but lacks the stability and plow of the Tour version. I don't want to go for high static weight racquets since I am 41 years old (very good fit but still), so I skip the 97H and 97D, but did not grew up on regular, light tweeners also. I have good forehand, very good volley, good serve and decent two-handed backhand which suffers the most while playing low mass/swingweight racquets, so at least the general RA or twistweight should be highier for me. In your opinion, which of these three racquets (Percept 97, 100, 100D) could fulfill this gap of regular Ezone 98 2022 305g and Ezone 98 Tour 2022 315g the most and be whippy, fast, stable, with decent power, spin and better control in the same time? Would appreciate your feedback.

Tried the Percept 97 and own the prior version of the 97H. Same as 97 but heavier this more power and stability at the cost of the extra weight. Honestly it’s amazing…like playing tennis with Thor’s hammer but a bit to heavy for competitive play for me.
Can you explain what you mean by this racket (and other control rackets) are better for more advanced players? Ive been playing regularly for about a year now but feel like the game comes pretty naturally to me. Im a good player but definitely room for improvement. I demoed this racket and loved it. But im certainly not an advanced player which is making me hesitate to purchase based on your comment. Thanks!
Go for it and don't worry too much. They aren't as forgiving as other rackets but that's also what makes them so precise and rewarding. If you like that feel then you will be fine!
I started playing a couple of years ago, my first racket was a Clash V2 Pro 100 great to begin with but one year after I switched to Blade V8 98 16x19 and that was a very demanding switch it took me time to get used to it but it satisfied my needs. Overall I thought I needed a different racket more forgiving and powerful, I have been trying the Yonex Ezone 98 for the past ten days: great racket but I had to change my way of playing and am very doubtful about switching to it. So now I am wondering about Percept 97… very confused and don’t know what to do.
Im using the head extreme tour. I hit with a loopy forehand and topspin and a one handed backhand with slice and topspin. I’m looking for more control and feel. Considering this Percept but worried it can affect my topspin 😅game. What do you think?
It will definitely give you less free spin. You may want to look into the Vcore 95 if you're willing to go that low. It has fantastic variety and still top-tier spin.
Thanks for the review! How would you compare it to the Blade 16x19 v8? I personally like the VCP 97 (Customized to 340g, 32mm balance), and will probably love this one!
It's similar to a Blade (forgiving and spin friendly for such a control oriented racket). Someone in the comments described it as a cross between PS97 and Blade 98 and I certainly agree.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver very interesting frame indeed. Demoed the 97D, 97 and 100. The 97 is a clear favorite for me but will probably require some weight. More testing to come!
They are different rackets at this point. That one was more traditional in its control with the thinner beam and different shape but this one is more powerful/spin friendly with a more forgiving sweet spot.
What would be a good customization job for this? I find it really unstable. Also been thinking of replacing it with the Gravity Pro. Do you think I should make the switch?

@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Compare with the 2018 Flame Red Version of the Vcore 95 as well if possible, that version of the 95 has a legendary status in the online tennis community. I wonder what the fuss is all about?
Racket suffers on big swings whether you are receiving or dishing out the big swing. What I want from Yonex is a variation on the h22 Wilson pro stock but make it couple more points head light and keep the isometric head shape.
I watched 4 videos you made, like all of them. I play Vcore Pro 97 HD 18/20, 320g, with yellow yonex strings , 23kg. Very flex frame. What do you think, what kind of player is it best suitable for? I am 40, quick, strong, but I am a self made tennis man , who played soccer and then switched to tennis (in my 30s). So, my point is, my technique is good, but this ist not the technique of someone who have started to play as a child. Sometimes I feel great with this frame, but yesterday I was.. very often late to the ball and this racquet did not like it at all, more unforced error then Djokovic ve Sinner ;) I play.... allround tennis, not heavy spin but not only flat. ...Maybe you can recommend a frame for me, espacially something from Yonex (eventually Toalson or Diadem). Thanks!
I can understand why someone with your background would appreciate the low-powered and controlled nature of a racket like that, but if you did want to work on developing a quicker, snappier tennis groundstroke, I would highly recommend something lighter, with a 16x19 string pattern and a 100 square inch head size. The control will be lacking at first but it will force you to add spin to your shot which will have an overall positive effect on your play.
I coached children in this age. Generally 300 grams racquets are too heavy for 10 years old child. Try some lighter version 280-285 grams, but only if he/she play tennis for time and developed proper technique basics already. If he/she is a complete beginner try even lighter racquets than that.
@@grainsdorIn my humble opinion, the 10 years old child and his coach should focus on developing proper technique first which can generate power when is executed properly, not on the power itself. Assuming that the 10 years old competes already and has the proper technique, it should be a matter of personal preference if there will be enough power, control, spin or not. I would not sacrifice comfort matter for the 10 years old also. Generally lighter racquets are stiffer to compensate for lack of mass, so there will be not much difference in stifness between some i.e. Babolats, Wilsons or Yonexes. Generally according to my experience, children in this age matter the colour of the racquet more and the fact that their favourite player endorses it than how it actually plays or how much power does it have. If it was me who had been asked about it, without knowing how the child plays, I would recommend the Yonex Ezone 100L for advanced one and Yonex Ezone Ace/Game for the beginner. These should have sufficient power for sure and enough control and comfort also. Hope I helped somehow. I am not English native speaker, so hopefully I did not mixed up anything much.
This is a good question. Having played a little more with the Percept I don't find the dampening as comfortable as Vibration Dampening Mesh so I would actually say the Ezone.
Test both. The 97 is amazing, but sometimes a little bit underpowered and a little bitchy😅 The 100 is easyer to handle and has more Power. I prefer the 97, my brothers pick was the 100😅
I think you'll come around to it. I didn't love the colour when I saw it online but it looks much, much better in person and the name might be weird right now but it was a necessary change.
My strung SW was 308. Yonex QC is all over the place in recent years. Way under spec, I had to put 4 g at 12 and it felt better. This racquet rewards full and fast swings, but as soon as you play at a slower pace or pick up slower balls the racquet felt dead and very unresponsive. Servo Filter kinda works, it feels way better than VDM, but still muted... it's a good platform control frame, but I wasn't impressed, there are better options for feel/control IMO!!!
I don't know why Yonex thickened the beam by 1 extra mm to 21 mm from 20 mm over the 2019 Vcore Pro Version? The Matte Green Vcore Pro 97 (2019 version) was well specd with a beautiful thin 20 mm box beam but a little too mushy feeling and flexible, making the racket under-powered for providing more control I guess, but that completely took away the connected feel and crispness from the racket, I hated that. Now Yonex have thickened the beam by 1 mm and I hate that as well because it takes away the feel of the racket and makes it more difficult to maneouver and increases drag and air resistance.
To a certain extent I agree (I still wish it was a 20mm as well) but the Percept is miles better than the Previous VCP 97 in terms of feel and that's in large part thanks to the fact VDM is gone. Give it a shot if you can!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I actually tried out a bunch of rackets at a place near me and went with the Babolat Pure Drive. It just felt the best for me. I really struggled hitting the Percept. I couldn’t figure out why but kept going back to the Pure Drive.
what do you think of the preceived stiffness and stability of the percept 97? And how does it compare to the vcore 95? I had a chance to try the 100 and it felt really good in terms of stability and stiffness. I later found out the 100 is thicker and stiffer, but I generally prefer smaller headsizes for maneuverability. That said, I'm not sure the 97 will offer that purely based off the specs.
I think I'll directly compare the Vcore 95 and Percept 97 soon but I still haven't played enough with the 95 to say much right now. Re. the 100 vs. 97. I think you'll still feel that the 97 is more maneuverable despite the higher weight specs. Head size manoeuvrability is a different sensation than actual weight/swing weight manoeuvrability. Definitely give it a demo!
It's quite different to the Gravity Pro. More maneuverable and "classic" player's frame but the Gravity has a "magical-ness" to it that I don't quite have with the Percept.
Do some players like stan wrap their overgrip only 3/4 of the way up to try and minimise the change in weight distribution that the overgrip imposes on the racket causing it to be a bit more head light???
It's so minimal at that point (we're talking 1 gram at the least consequential place on the racket) that I don't think that's the main motivation, and if it is, I would say it's mainly placebo.
If the Percept is half as good as the Vcore pro at £245 happy days 🧐 However the 2021 Vcore pro 97 strung with you’re choice of strings at £115 is a now brainier guess which one I bought 💪💪💪💪💪 never underestimate an old guy with a Racket ps bought two 2021 Vcore pros £225 all in with yonex polytour Rev 48lb poetry in motion 😎 very easy one the arm no issues whatsoever 👌

How is comparison between Yonex Percept 97 and Wilson Pro Staff 97 V14, Which one is the best?
I think we will make a video about this in the future as they are very similar and I'd have to play with them again to give you a good comparison.
I tried the precept and the blade and I liked the blade more
Can you explain what you mean by this racket (and other control rackets) are better for more advanced players?
Which string do you recommend to go with the percept 97?
Lynx Tour feels great in it!
How would you compare it with the 2018 (navy) version of the vcore pro that’s without the dampening tech?
They are different rackets at this point. That one was more traditional in its control with the thinner beam and different shape but this one is more powerful/spin friendly with a more forgiving sweet spot.
What would be a good customization job for this? I find it really unstable. Also been thinking of replacing it with the Gravity Pro. Do you think I should make the switch?
Don't worry about changing yet, try adding some lead at 3 and 9. That made it perfect for me.
For a one handed backhand player with a big serve an forehand who doesn’t volley too much would you recommend the Percept (97) or the Ezone 98?
Good question. I would go with the Percept as it cuts through the air a bit better for a OHBH
Luca you still enjoying the CT Rallys? Or back to the Vape 2s? Also my buddy just moved to Van city told him to reach out to you guys for all tennis gear stuff
Back to the vapor 2s but I like the Rallys as well. Hope your friend enjoys his experience at the store!
What are the differences between the percept 97 vs ezone 98? I’ve always used ezone but I wondering if it’s time for a change
I'm thinking of doing a Yonex lineup comparison very soon so I'll cover it in depth there.
How would you compare it to Yonex Vcore 95 ('23 - Scarlett)?
That is a very good question and there will be an equally good video on the topic very soon 👀👀👀
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
Compare with the 2018 Flame Red Version of the Vcore 95 as well if possible, that version of the 95 has a legendary status in the online tennis community. I wonder what the fuss is all about?
Racket suffers on big swings whether you are receiving or dishing out the big swing. What I want from Yonex is a variation on the h22 Wilson pro stock but make it couple more points head light and keep the isometric head shape.
I definitely understand what you mean but because the swing weight is so low, you can customize it to whatever spec is stable enough.
please review 100 & 100d! please Luca!!!!!!!!
The 100 is up next!
@RacketsRunnersVancouver thank you Luca! Can't wait!!! 🙏
Thank You!@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
Hey Luca. Any plan on reviewing the 97D?
Not yet, sorry.
Thanks for the review, it was awesome. Question for you, do you think the percept 100 lite version can suit a 10 years old boy?
Thanks
I coached children in this age. Generally 300 grams racquets are too heavy for 10 years old child. Try some lighter version 280-285 grams, but only if he/she play tennis for time and developed proper technique basics already. If he/she is a complete beginner try even lighter racquets than that.
@@zulugula5494 thanks for answering my question. Basically the 100 lite “100l”is 280 grams but I’m not sure if it has enough power for a 10 years old
@@grainsdorIn my humble opinion, the 10 years old child and his coach should focus on developing proper technique first which can generate power when is executed properly, not on the power itself.
@@zulugula5494 thanks a lot for your answer. I just ordered the ezone few minutes ago 😉.
I totally agree with you.
Thanks 😊
@@grainsdorNo problem. Great choice. Regards🙂
I’m an intermediate player and play casually for fun. What would you say is more comfortable between the percept and the ezone ?
This is a good question. Having played a little more with the Percept I don't find the dampening as comfortable as Vibration Dampening Mesh so I would actually say the Ezone.
But will they sell the 100d in Canada? Can’t find it anywhere! 😢
It doesn’t seem to be available in Canada yet.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thanks for the answer! Do we know why? 😅
You still like Head Gravity Pro more than the Percept?
I think I do but I need more time with the Percept to make it a fair fight!
Yes yes yes!! If the 100d buttery like gravity pro but stiff in the in the hoop like a speed pro im sold.
Does it make sense to switch to percept 97 from ezone 98 2022 coming from a rotator cuff injury?
They’re equally as comfortable as each other so if you have no problems with the ezone, you shouldn’t have any problems with the percept.
Hi Luca....how does this racket compare to the Auxetic Radical Pro?
More control and consistency but less power and spin.
Less power more spin
I’m playing a Pure Strike 98 16x19 (3.5 in atlanta) and want to switch. Would the 97 or 100 be better choice to demo?
Test both. The 97 is amazing, but sometimes a little bit underpowered and a little bitchy😅 The 100 is easyer to handle and has more Power. I prefer the 97, my brothers pick was the 100😅
Great comment below. The best bet if you can only demo one is the 97 because you’ll be more used to that sweet spot size, but the 100 is good as well.
Yonex percept 100 or wilson blade 98 for the agresive baseliner?
I would say the Blade 98, but the Percept is great as well.
V core pro 97 user. New racket looks good. Not sure about new name and colour tho.
I think you'll come around to it. I didn't love the colour when I saw it online but it looks much, much better in person and the name might be weird right now but it was a necessary change.
Hi, how do you compare this racket to Prince ATS Tour 98?
I’ve never played with that racket so I can’t really compare it, sorry.
Do you prefer this one over the Gravity pro??
It's very close, but the Gravity Pro is still a little bit above IMO.
Any stringing recommendations for the P97?
Poly tour pro for a bit more comfort and feel, and poly tour rev for more control and spin.
What string set up would you recommend?
I like a poly at around 50 pounds. RPM Rough is my personal choice.
Say it softly but Yonex QC is very overrated 😅
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
I will, I am planning to demo the 97L version
how this compare to the head gravity?
It has a smaller, less forgiving sweet spot than the Gravity Pro but it's more manoeuvrable and has similar spin.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thank you
Will this work for a 3.5 baseliner or is this just out of my league?
Maybe a little too challenging but the Percept 100 would work!
Have you done one on the ezone?
No, it came out after we started making reviews so we'll have to wait till the next one.
that new black at least looks great...
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
Would you add a leather grip and lead?
Yes! Lead at the 3&9 positions is perfect!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver how many grams? What do you think of a video about customizing the best control rackets?
Please review Prokennex Ki5, Ki10, Ki15
Unfortunately, we don't carry Prokennex.
What’s the biggest difference between the 97 and the 97D?
A lot… 97D is heavier (320g unstrung) and has a denser string pattern (18x20)
D stands for Dense
Compare both the 100 and 100D if you get the chance :)
It would be a great comparison!
Would this racket be good for someone with a one handed backhand?
Yes, absolutely!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I actually tried out a bunch of rackets at a place near me and went with the Babolat Pure Drive. It just felt the best for me. I really struggled hitting the Percept. I couldn’t figure out why but kept going back to the Pure Drive.
the best thing about percept lineup is the colors
I agree that it looks great.
Compared with gravity pro?
More maneuverable but less top tier stability and consistency.
How does it compare to the 95D? ;)
I wish I knew... I've never played that racket
what do you think of the preceived stiffness and stability of the percept 97?
Definitely give it a demo!
what did you string it with?
Poly Tour Pro and ALU Power @ 53#
Great video! How does it compare to Head Extreme Tour?
Thank you! They are two pretty different rackets with the Extreme significantly more spin-friendly and the Percept much more controlled.
I would be curious about your opinion on the Percept 97D?
We haven't received them yet but I'll hopefully get a review out when we do.
How does it compare to the gravity pro. Right now I play with the gravity Pro and the TF40.
It's quite different to the Gravity Pro. More maneuverable and "classic" player's frame but the Gravity has a "magical-ness" to it that I don't quite have with the Percept.
nice Racket but the SW is too low! with 310g it should be between 320-325SW
It's a little low but I think it's playable stock and you can always add weight!
Would love to hear your thoughts on both the 100 versions
Awesome! Enjoy
This or the new pro staff?
Certainly worth a comparison!
Bro you said you hated white socks with black shoes! The Rally looks good
😅 the shoe looks good but the white socks black shoes I'm not so sure...
Percept 100 vs Speed MP vs CX 400 Tour! All 100 sqin modern power/control happy medium with 23mm beam?
Yes, great idea!
Swing weight seems low
All amazing if you are selling
Luigi racket:
I would assume so but I've never played with the T-Fight 300.
So I guess this is not for a beginner
No, unfortunately not, although the lighter rackets in the line could work a bit better!
