This netool saves the day. I bought this when Willie talked about it another video. I went on a job with 8 switches and 25 APs, all of the documentation was wrong. This not only helped me to show the client that there was an ISP outage it wasn’t just me. But, I was able to start documenting correctly too, this is great advice. I want to know about the cloud feature too. Buy this!
I got my Netool a while back as a beta from indiegogo, one of the earlier versions. One of the hats I wear here at my job is IT troubleshooting and I have actually had several real case scenarios where this little device has come in handy. I do also use and love Fing as one guy mentioned earlier, and have purposed integrating some of Fing's features into the Netool app, with an immediate response back of "Yes we are working them into a future build!" These guys are definitely on top of things, and if you have a great idea for it that you would like to see added, either on the app or the hardware, they're very open to it.
Ok, Just ordered one up for use at work. My co-workers are terrible about labeling what is where. They also refuse to learn how to use the Cisco command line on our switches and are constantly asking me to diagnose where they hell their spaghetti wiring is going...... This is not as advanced as a Fluke Netrunner or similar, but much cheaper and gets me most of what they would need to figure out. The support of CDP to tell them the switch and port it is on will save me lots of time! Thanks for the discount.
Beware of the Hip Holster! Our team uses both the Lite and Pro versions, both are great tools. We also purchased the hip holster, which is about useless for the newer versions of the tool. My guess is that the holster was designed for the first version, which is much smaller. The newer Lite and Pro versions barely fit and the cover flap will not close!

Offtopic , does the wireless uplink option in the UniFi control panel reduce bandwidth? I would be nice if you could test UAP Mesh performance with a AC Lite as the backbone :D
Love your videos, generally, but from what you showed us here, I don't understand what this thing does that I can't do with a laptop and a tone tester, aside from quickly determining the port number. I'm sure I missed something, but maybe a more in-depth review of its capabilities would help.
Put the Fing app on your phone it's free. Unless your company is paying for a device like this, don't bother. BTW I can appreciate the growing attempt to monetize your channel with a variety of shorter videos, but don't abandon the solid configuration videos you began with. I would much rather see a single in depth Unifi new feature set or AP performance comparison video (UAP-AC vs UAP-M vs UAP-HD) than 4 shorter videos of lesser detailed content.
A device I want to like, but it does almost nothing in terms of identifying protocols traversing or devices on your network, analyzing anything is out of the question too. It doesn't even have Nmap or similar functionality (does it show bootp server IP-No, does it show DHCP server IP- No, does it show ANY ports-No) All the screens of data you get are only the ones presented in Google Play, so look at those to see if there's anything you're needing. I've had the device since mid DEC 2016 and I've found it useful zero times. My tablet connects to Ethernet and does everything I need quickly and efficiently, including Nmap functions and capturing packets. The only help this device could possibly give me is a Vlan ID on the fly. Also updating firmware was NOT easy and most of the time I don't get a green connection light no matter whose network Im on or how I press the power button. Honestly, its too little information costing me too much (160$) and giving too much trouble.

Just got my netool.io in the mail!! This is very freaking handy. Already using CDP to easily get what is on any port around the building.

Does this do network discovery like Fing? Im an iOS user and hate that iOS 11 removed finding MAC addresses and i do not want to switch to Android

Whenever those newer versions get released who knows. I'm up to date with latest firmware version 48.
One lil thing, Willie... this is a "Neh tool", not a "Net Tool" which is/was something made by Fluke Networks.
