Great explanations of brushes, amount of paint, amount of water, whether canvas is wet or dry; the camerawork is excellent, and the commentary is perfect without any nonsensical chatter. i really enjoy your tutorials Jane I have watched other artists as well i find your teaching style great for me.. I have been painting for about 2 years and I enjoy but I struggle very much and want to give up sometimes. I followed the best i could but still my painting just does not look that good. Idk what I do wrong..I really want to keep painting the frustration is starting to out weigh the pleasure I get from painting.. Im not sure what to do to improve.. I went to buy primary yellow in liquitex basic and they were out. I have yellow Hansa in heavy body plus all the cad yellows and Indian yellow. Any of these work? Wondering if cad light with white? Starting highlights.

Hi Jane. I am sure my granddaughter would LOVE this FairyTree for a present. The only thing I was wondering is what are your thoughts about adding a few faries? Faries are her present passion :). I am not sure about placement, though. I was thinking about one fluttering by the tree limb and one by the door?? You input/ideas would be greatly appreciated !!
Wow, what a wonderful and "magical" project you made again Jane. Maybe I'll try this in the future. But I have a question. What should I rather use instead of primary yellow: cadmium yellow (medium shade) or lemon yellow? What do you think would fit better? And if I use Cadmium Yellow, should I lighten it up with some more white?
Thank you!! Cadmium yellow is a red shade yellow, and that might work against the green to make it muddy. Try the lemon yellow and see how that works. Let me know :D
As a beginner, I get confused with brush sizes. My flat brushes have numbers on them like #6, 9, 10, & 11. I have one that says 1/2" How do you know what a size nine is as an example. How is it measured?
That's just the thing, you really don't. Many companies number their brushes a little bit different. Over all, I would say it really doesn't matter. Use whatever looks the closest to you. There's really not a right and wrong brush.
