I just finished watching this film for the 25th time. This interview makes me want to watch it right now lol... this film is a one of a kind masterpiece.

She played all through college at a prestigious university and still does tons of gigs and performances. She was floored by how accurate this movie was. She recalled one of her first days with a band when one kid came in 30 seconds late and the director just said “get the f*** out” and they never saw him again. I love Miles Teller. Then, I saw Skoda from the OG Law & Order (Remember that? McCoy, Claire, and Jerry Orbach), where he played a soft-spoken, kind-hearted, sincere forensic psychiatrist. Suddenly - Violent and always yelling. As a musician, what an effing trip to see Dr. Emil Skoda yelling and ripping at little Miles Teller.
He remind me of another versatile actor from overseas his name was park jungmin he got all the talent for his role characters and this is what we called high class actor is
I think Miles has proven that he is going to take the torch for Tom Cruise in the future when it comes to going above and beyond in terms of performance on screen and behind the scenes. Great fucking job!
I'm a drummer. Miles Teller does a good job of acting in this movie no doubt, but he's not actually playing the drums in this movie. The drumming you DO hear from the actual actors is terrible and if you actually listen to the final scene of his big solo there are drums and cymbals being played that are not present on the set at all. He's also moving and "hitting" at times where no such sound is occurring. Good acting and he does a great job with the role. I just don't want to praise him for something he didn't do that was Hollywood magic.
I’ve been playing for 46 years. There are quite a few times in the movie when Myles actually plays the drums. However - the “hard” parts, those are Mr Erskine
The hardest thing would be to act like he’s playing so hard and forcefully (to look convincing for the audience), when as a real drummer, he would have learned early on that he could play far better by NOT doing that.
Feel like every muscisan has had that moment where theyre like "its too hard i dont think ill ever be as good as i want to be" but everytime ur just like "fuck it ill just keep trying" then whatever was hard to you is easy now
Fucking Miles Teller having imposter syndrome about playing infront of these people translated perfectly to Andrew's sense of imposter syndrome in the beginning of the movie
WHY DOESNT SOME OF THE AUDIO MATCH WITH HIS PLAYING THEN. SOME OF THOSE PARTS WERE EASY ENOUGH ESPECIALLY IF HE'S PRACTICING & RECEIVING LESSONS 4HRS A DAY
I'm not going to say this movie is 100% trash. The performances are committed. But the basic storyline IS trash. (For a short tutorial on why, just Google Donald Fagen trashing the movie.)

Teller's been playing since age 15 - sure it was grinding, but in no way a new skill

im so glad they leaned into having the actor actually play. You can't make this story without that Imo.

From what I've heard, he played some parts while they also had another drummer play some parts (Im guessing they played the tougher parts).
He basically played as close as he could, so that it looked perfect, but most of the parts are dubbed over.
