As someone who got this pedal solely for the reverse and mod settings you couldn't be more wrong about those options in this pedal. The reverse reverb in the RV7 is phenomenal.
Back in 2010 I got mine for $60 brand new from Musicians Friend, due to a misprint in their catalog. It's been on my board ever since. Best reverb pedal ever made!
I worked at Digitech/Harman SP for about 8 years. The team responsible for the Hardwire Series set out to build the absolute best pedals. They delivered big time, but then the company decided to move in another direction. As I recall, these weren't originally supposed to have the Digitech name attached, just "Hardwire". IMO, this series never got the attention it deserves and they all sound amazing. I still have mine and I will never sell them. Of course, Harman later sold everything to Samsung and that is that.
Are you in touch with any of them? I'd love to interview them more, maybe do another video on this series of pedals? Perhaps you can put me in touch? mason@vertexeffects.com
The DigiTech and DOD properties were just sold to Cor-Tek (makers of Cort), and they plan to bring the brands back. Hopefully these products find their way back into the market.
@@ue4058 That's a step in a better direction. I just don't know if that magic can be harnessed without having the same team. Those guys were amazing designers and amazing players, as well. I used to jam with many of them. It was so much fun. I miss them all so much.
@@evowire That gang put out some great stuff. I have the Supernatural and most of the Cram-era DOD pedals. The new owners at least say they plan to reissue the existing IP, so maybe we'll see lines like the Hardwires return.
Keep it simple is the message I picked up here. The four basic types are all we need, because they represent how we hear reverb in real life. Great video, I like hearing the examples that we already know!
Happy to say I still have mine. Got it used for $99 in 2013. It isn't on my board because I use a more specific reverb sound that I really like with my Keeley Nocturner. That said, this was my reverb for a bunch of years. I don't think I'll ever sell it. It would go back on the board in a heartbeat if I ever play with a cover band.
When i was just getting into guitar my grandfather died and left me about $1000 and Gretsch 1959 Firebird Guitar. I don't use the Gretsch much as its more sentimental, slightly damaged and a classic....but i did use the cash to buy the RV-7 at the time....and I still use this Pedal today. Its my favorite pedal still and gives me such an amazing clean reverb with some amazing affects as well if i mess around with it.
The DL-8 delays are monstreous too. They still sit at Steve Lukather’s pedal board. Hardwire was some of the best sounding time efx ever in a pedal. Great video, appreciate it Mason!
After trying too many reverb pedals including my outboard authentic fender spring unit (as the gold standard for spring) … the Polara is the best pedal I’ve found. The built in Lexicon algo’s are the best I’ve found on a pedal.
I remember I bought the DigiTech Supernatural when videos of it were put out on Pro Guitar Shop. I was immediately sold on the plate and shimmer settings. Still my favorite reverb pedal I own. It even survived being submerged from flooding. Took off the back cover, sat it in some rice, and it worked like nothing happened to it. Still swear there might be a piece of rice still stuck in there because I can hear something lightly moving around in there any time I pick it up.
I remember shopping for a good reverb and played lots of them, but none of them touched what I wanted like this pedal did. I remember thinking "Am I getting a Digitech?!", and it's still in my rig to this day. Wonderful.
Great vid Mason! Awesome sounding pedal. I've been using the TC Hall of Fame 2. I mainly use the Church setting and also made some custom settings for the User banks. One thing that I use a lot on it is the 'Mash' footswitch which works as an expression. I program it to increase the reverb level and also the decay. Great way to add in the middle of a solo or when doing swells. And it hardly takes up any room on my board. Probably better sounding reverbs out there but that mash option is very useful. I do think I need something with the Lexicon chip! Thanks!
I like the HOF a lot...I think it gets a bad reputation based on some misuses of its best settings and not fully understanding things like the pre-delay and short/long settings via the toggle.
Spot on, Mason! :)) Great video, as always! I was extremely lucky to have recently bumped into an absolutely mint, like-new RV-7, and oh man I am loving it!!! If I wanna get fiddly and really play with knobs and expression pedals and what not - I have my Neunaber V2 with the EXP controller, and a Cooper FX Expression Genenerator to get crazy with shimmers, swelly wet reverbs and modulated delays. But when I need something "classy" - I step on this chunky square foot switch, and... the magic begins :) I agree on the hall setting: this is what I use most of the time on my RV-7, and it sounds darn good.
My next verb is going to be the Poly Verb, it's not as pricey as I thought it was going to be but it's still pricey. I've just odered the Digitech Supernatural and the DigiTech Hardwire RV-7 Stereo Reverbs as I like a bit of vintage in my pedals. I also have the Polara too. The latter pedals are my Digitech collection of verbs as of today. The RV-7 verb purchase was down to viewing this demo... Excellent demo Mr Vertex...
This is nice to hear. I've had one for years that I bought used for $80 probably back near when they were released. I also have the Hardwire CM-2 Hardwire overdrive which is good also.
Boss Reverb RV-6, simple and reliable, only iffy setting is the shimmer (can get out of hand unless you just tone it way down). This is one of the few pedals i didnt put with an either/or for alternatives when shopping for, but i also never really looked at this digitech rv7 tbh so looking forward to the review.
Mason - Your review is fantastic. i love the combination of the subjective listening with the technical, and picking the best tracks to demo the different reverb types. I have subscribed!
I agree. I had numerous Rack processors in my studio: Roland SDE1000, Yamaha SPX90II, Alesis Q 20, Lexicon MPX-1, Aphex Aural Exciter, DBX 163x (we always mixed vocals with the Lexicon) = nothing sounded like-it !!! . . . It also did the Landau 80's rack Tri-Chorus thing . oNe LovE from NYC
Great video, the RV7 was already shooting up a bit in price when I grabbed the Polara. It works well with the HOF2 in my ambient rig, just before the mixer. Too easy to hear digital artifacts in many of the more "boutique" pedals out there. Yep, we are all looking at you, Strymon. 😉
I bought this in 2008 and it’s still on my board after countless gigs. Very underrated series of pedals but for those who know they know that it’s top class!
Excellent pedal Mason. I’ve had one in the past and really loved it. The Lexicon chip really sounds authentic. Definitely one one of the best sounding. But ur right the look didn’t help it Using the EQD dispatch master now for my reverb and sometimes add a bit of delay too. Kinda wish I’d kept it. Don’t even want to say how cheap they were a few years ago
I've had an RV-7 for a LONG time. Still sounds as good as new. I think it, and the Polara are sneaky good. You forget, put them up. Then get them back out one day and you go "whoa, these ARE good!" Reverb is my nemesis. I've chased it all over, never satisfied - thank you Chris Isaak. I must have surf, so I must have "drip" - the True Spring, Topanga, and Surf Rider do it for me. Shermy (Surfrajettes) gets fantastic tone out of an offset, a Surf Rider and an Excelsior. The Flint is great because it's Reverb Plus. Love my RV-500 too. I have a Blue Sky but it is a butter knife of reverbs to me - very competent but not exciting. I think the RV-7 and Polara are its equal. The True Spring also has a good tremolo and I have an older Immerse. So, no one pedal is enough. Gotta have one for surf/drip and another for basics and ambient/wash. I liked the Cropper tone best. Croppertone?!
I've had this pedal forever and never found a reason to upgrade. it just sounds right. the spring reverb sounds better than my onboard fender spring verb. boutique snobs are fools for not scooping this one. the lexicon dsp is choice.
Thanks for the demo. Been looking for a good Reverb. Found one in a shop in Japan in new condition w/ the box and paperwork for $329.80. Bought it. Can't wait for it to get here.
Here’s a weird reverb just for those who like ambient stuff is old blood noise sunlight. Favorite pedal I bought last year. But for basic reverb tones is specular tempus is my go to. It stacks well with my amp reverb without it getting too muddy.
I got one of these after hearing many people say good things about it and the whole Lexicon thing, and your recommendations Mason. Man, it's a fantastic sounding reverb in 2024. I have the Strymon Flint as well, and the RV-7 kills it IMO for realistic sounding reverbs. The RV-7 Reverbs sound more like actual spaces to me, rather than the Strymon verbs which sound more like an effect rather than an actual space. The pedal seems to blend really well with my playing too and doesn't get in the way of the attack. I've never had a reverb pedal that performed quite like it. Glad I bought it because it's staying for sure!
This reverb is the tail end of regular reverbs, before the modulated stuff became popular. Compare this to other straight up reverbs, like the Boss reverb,, MXR or even other Digitech pedals, and it's clearly above those. This is because the Hardwire series was a more expensive pedal, with rugged features geared to stage use. The Lexicon chip is just one of those differences. Anybody who compared regular reverb pedals of the day would know just how much better this sounded than the others. It didn't cost as much as the Boss back then, either, so I was surprised. It's a very good reverb.
Just a bit of curiosity. How would the Doctor's Special Rx compare to the TR Traditional Clean or the Amplified Nation Wonderland Special? I am considering an amplifier in that range.
They're all based on Dumble amplifiers with our respective flavors. I don't know the particulars on each of their amps, but ours is based on a 50W version of a Steel String Singer with some changes to exaggerate how I like clean amps voiced for pedals to run in front of. I suspect component wise we're probably all within the same range of high quality parts, transformers, speakers, cabinets, etc. All of our amps are made one at a time (by one guy) up in Toronto, Canada. We only make 4 amps per quarter and have only committed to putting out 12 total amps this year, and then we'll re-evaluate after that if we want to do it or not. This was just a passion project of mine to build the ultimate clean amp and something that I would be inspired to play everyday with all my favorite attributes. It's certainly not a high profit endeavor, despite the price point, I think by the time it's all said and done we're making maybe $400-500 an amp in NET profit before any marketing expenses are considered. It's a terrible margin, but I was willing to eat some profits to see if the concept was even workable long term. In any case, back to your questions, I suppose at a certain level, when you get up into the higher end boutique Dumble amps, you're sorta picking your favorite chef to cook your Ribeye...we're all cooking Ribeyes at the end of the day, but the way we flavor and season them, and how we cook them as "chefs" (or amp builders) might be a bit different brand to brand. Some amplifier builders aren't players...so knowing where the maker is coming from as a starting point to understand how they hear things can be a challenge with that in mind. Not to say they can't make great amps, but it's a consideration to weigh as your choose the amp you might want. I tend to gravitate more toward Pop music with some leanings toward SRV and John Mayer, but ultimately, I was playing in Top 40 bands so I liked clean amps that could work well with a lot of pedals and sound right for the era whether it be 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, or now. I also make pedals and have been on a commercial level for over a decade as well as being a rig builder, so that also gives me a good idea on what the amp needs to be to work with most pedals, not just the ones I like as a player. Again, all considerations for you to think about before diving in on an expensive amp :)
Great video, and very informative. Unfortunately I missed out on the RV-7. At the time that these pedals were introduced, I wasn’t really using reverb. But I DO have the Hardwire DL-8 delay which I purchased new mostly for the tape echo and I think it sounds great. I now have the Boss RV-6 as I was playing in a P&W situation for a while and needed that modulate setting. But I agree that the other types of reverb settings on the Digitech unit are a step above the Boss.
This pedal does have reverse reverb and modulation also btw. It is a reverb you can use in a band not just the bedroom cuz its tasteful and not too overbearing.
The Fender Reflecting Pool Delay/Reverb pedal is exactly like what you are describing in this particular video. Although it doesn't offer the spring Reverb setting b/c Fender believes that you should be using one of their amps with their classic spring Reverb already included. It does offer 3 different Hall & 3 different Room types plus a gated & reverse reverb & a shimmer setting & they also include a fixed modulation setting. It's a great pedal that does offer more than just a few frigging awesome sounds.
@@VertexEffectsInc could you do a video that shows the difference between how the lexicon delays & the chip that's in the Reflecting Pool really sound?
I run straight into dry amps in full harmonic distortion or with a fuzz face on full tilt and work the volume knob for clean crunch and lead all the time.
Fabulous pedal. Very easy to use . It works great on vocals and percussion too. Sucks quite a lot of power; I use a dedicated power supply for it. Well worth it.
I totally agree with the sentiment. I'm looking for my first reverb pedal and have experience mixing and recording in professional studios. The reverb pedals coming out at the moment sound beautiful but are totally gimmicky. As a trained engineer I just want my dry/wet, decay time, size and room type on a guitar pedal. Something I find incredible is that I haven't been able to find a single pedal that let's you change the early reflections, diffusion or pre delay. Yet, there are dozens upon dozens of pedals with these ridiculous settings that no professional ever actually uses. Why? Those parameters are just as important as the others and aren't hard tk understand. Guitar pedal manufacturers seem intent on selling over the top products which inflates the prices and just creates a load of confusion for consumers.
I still gig with my Hardwire Tuner. I have always had my eye for this reverb pedal but since I gig with a Deluxe Reverb I never really saw the need to buy one.
Digitech Hardwire line was great. I have the DL-8 delay, the SP-7 Stereo Phaser and the TR-7 Tremolo/Rotary. Also, I have the Digitech Polara which is similar to the RV-7. Would like to have the Hardwire Supernatural, too. It's a real shame. DOD and Digitech were turning out some great gear when Samsung/Harmon pulled the plug on the business.
I"ve managed to pick up everything but the TR-7 and the TL-2. The whole line was criminally underrated. Even the V10 power supply was good for the time. I'll get around to finishing the set one day
I have a supernatural on my board and had a DL-8 but forgot it at a rehearsal and lost it. I regret losing the DL-8. Got them on a stupid deal of the day for $69 each. The supernatural isn't as good as a strymon blue sky, but it does get into the same neighborhood.
I’ve used this RV-7 pedal for a decade and love it. I favor the “Reverse” setting which was not featured in the video. It’s fantastic for ambient shoegaze music.
Nice, always informative..the slo by walrus is very cool with their low octave tail setting....guitar,keys..and my favourite drums..sound wicked..strymon liked it so much they put it in their new version of the blue sky...always love when I hear "like the reverb found in the deluxe reverb"cause thats my favourite..the boss 63 reverb pedal I have and is very good too..low brow i like the holy grail.
Thanks for the review! I got my RV-7 new. The sales man said this is the best reverb pedal made. Trust me get this one. I was thinking he was just trying to make a sale. I liked the way it looked and sounded so I got it. I’m so glad I did! I got a buddy on it. And his buddy said “his Holy Grail reverb is the best!” After hearing the RV-7 he dumped the Holy Grail and got a RV-7. Lol
I traded my Boss GE-7 for this pedal about 6 months ago. I came out on top on that one! Buuuut... This reverb left me feeling very underwhelmed. It does NOT go into huge or ambient territory. I don't play ambient, but it feels great to have that option. This pedal is just useable, sublte reverb. Although, I found the reverse and gated settings utterly useless, the modulation reverb is very subtle, the hall reverb doesn't even go huge... I sold the pedal fast and bought the MXR M300 Reverb. Now, THAT reverb pedal is something else! It goes subtle, and it goes huge! The modulated reverbs in that pedal (Pad and Epic settings) sound amazing, and any setting can really go huge!
As the video states, for core reverb sounds, this is unbeatable. It very closely resembles the gold standard rack reverbs of the 80's which is the high water mark for guitar with reverb (outside of a spring reverb tank). If you want really exaggerated reverbs, as the video says, this isn't for you and you'll want a super modern reverb pedal to do that.
DOD/Digitech have always had amazing sounding pedals/effects units. Their Achilles heel has always been the hardware, mainly their footswitches wearing out/breaking.
@@VertexEffectsInc All the stuff I had was pre-Hardwire (excluding my Whammy pedal reissue) and by then I was sick of their repair policy. You had to send to them and be without it for up to a month and any software upgrades had to happen whether you wanted them or not.
False!!! The internal switching of the DC jack is very fragile and subject to failure on the Hardwire series. When that happens, the pedal will not work anymore using a 9v battery.
I have the RV-7. Bought it brand new - let me tell you - the Catalinbread Talisman is the BOMB! it has only plate and it sounds like a record. This is highly overlooked and is no doubt the very best plate for a guitar pedalboard.
I have the Polara. Great Pedal Verb. It’s not quite PCM (I have a pcm 80 and pcm 90). Even the plug-in version of the pcm doesn’t sound as good as the actual pcms. Exponential Audio (designer of pcm stuff) has great plugins too. I have used every lexicon verb in hardware and software. There is nothing quite like them.
No pedal will fully replicate it, but it's derivative of that sound in a pedal format. I have a lot of experience with the PCM series delays and reverbs as well...in my mind they're the gold standard.
Great video, I've been looking for one for a while now and just not paying some of the prices guys are asking. It's like the Boss HM-2. I have one, but would never sell it for the market going rate.
@@VertexEffectsInc wow , I honestly never see them that low. I'm in Central Canada and it's doesn't seem to be a lot of local gear up for sale either here lol. Thanks for the notice, Cheers!
I got my r7 a year or two ago. Watched one guy bid on it for a whole week. The last min I bid what I thought it was worth at the time (150) and ended up paying 97 bucks. I will never get rid of it
I just bought the RV-7 a month ago for a steal $59 it was sold as a for only parts pedal. It turns out it was a one component that was loose i desoldered it and soldering it back and bam perfect.
I got a extra. For a back up Because of a video U did awhile ago .Same thing It was broken But found company that Fixed it for 25 dollars. I couldn’t believe it. Now it works great as a back up
What component was it? Please tell me! I have a RV-7 that only works intermittently. I like the RV-7 but only for the Spring. I would like to repair it...
My Polara has only one reverb setting working. All of the others worked fine until they stopped working for no reason. I’m using the Strymon Zuma for power. A lot of other people are having the same issue without a solution. Help please !
I’ve had this pedal for around 10 years and when I first came across it, it was definitely the best on the market by far (hall of fame was all the rave). Not long after came the strymon reverbs, which have been hugely popular and obviously came a staple on most pedalboards. I never have the hardwire off when playing and still think it’s got one of the best sounding reverbs on the market. I like that I can leave it on all the time (regardless of genre) and never have to worry about it too often, I imagine that would not be the case with the strymon. I love the over the top strymon reverb sound as much as the next person, however, Ithink overly complicated pedals are not necessarily always great in a gigging situation where you need to change things on the fly in a moments notice. I don’t think the pedals perfect sonically and I have looked at others over time. Recently I was setting up a second pedalboard for smaller gigs and decided to use my boss RV5 that a friend gave me, I changed it out VERY quickly to the hardwire as sonically it didn’t compare. I think the design is good, I like any pedal that could get hit by a truck and survive. The only fault I would say is the battery option never worked. The reverse and mod reverbs are cool also (not covered here)
I'll say this much Mason, My Hardwire Supernatural is still my best...I have it paired with a Neunaber WET. As to your question; I think the Ventris is the current reverb leader.
@@MATTHEWJOHNBELL Different verb flavors and textures with the Wet being more detailed for ambient washes. Combined can get really spacey and chewy with the trails. Lots of knob tweaky fun; for me anyway.
Im glad I found this comment. I shoulda known it was one of the first comments. I remember seeing the 'Video premiere notification' for this video for this verb. I picked one up straight away before this video dropped, because I’m currently on the hunt for a Reverb for an evh pedal conjunction thing. I just had tried recently the UA golden… for its plate and …. Ehhhh…🤔🤷🏻♂️😒 I currently own the WET. And then receiving the hardware, comparing the two… ehhhh 🤷🏻♂️ again, for me, the WET holds the title. Although looking at a video for the Ventris, after reading this comment originally, I have to say, the plate on the Vent- sounds really goood! I’m going to try that one next. But for now out of a bunch of various verbs over time and even recently, the WET #☝🏻
I had one of these and felt it was a great pedal. I went with original HOF and decided on that one and parting with the Digitech but maybe if I truly A/B’d hem now I might have kept it! That said the Collider by Source Audio is pretty solid and the True Spring is great.
I agree with you Mason, that Lexicon chip has no comparison in terms of sound quality and consistency. I don't know much about the Rv7, I just have the TR7, but I owe a Polara, which actually displaced the HoF and the Boss RV6 from my main pedalboard. Though, a bit cumbersome when you want to change the algorithm, but I don't think I will go back now. The other thing is that for the HoF and the Boss you have to plug it into a good amp to hear all the best they can do. The Polara I can plug it into my car speakers and still will give me the studio reverb sound you are trying to demonstrate here. Thumps up BTW. I also owe the Ventris, which I consider more than a swiss army, still high quality considering it is digital. Actually I like all that Source Audio makes, me owing several ( Ventris, Nemesis, Programmable EQ, Gemini. and hopefully soon the Zio), even the old Soundblox series from which I got the OFD, the Orbital Modulator, Dimension Rvb, Neuro Hub and Hothand Wah.
Was targeting a "new" reverb with superior tone and oriented towards manually dialing the settings without flipping through menus. Ended up narrowing my search to the Dr. Scientist Atmosphere (yes... it has complex menus, but is also easy to dial in) and the Digitech Hardwire RV-7. Atmosphere finished a very close 2nd to RV-7. How close 2nd? I ended buying one of these too. The RV-7 will be my primary front-end recording reverb for electric guitar. The Atmosphere will replace the Strymon Big Sky on my acoustic board. I highly recommend both of these under-the-radar pedals.
Supernatural is my favourite reverb and never will it leave my board, had mine for 6 or 7 years, also have a Polara which is good. I actually like the way the RV7 looks, and the Supernatural is a very pretty looking pedal
Hello Mason! Thanks for this video! The main question for me… Does it drip in spring mod? I didn’t found mine best reverb. And I’m still in searching. I need good 60’s drippy spring reverb on the one hand and kind of lightly ambient reverb on the other.
I would say the Spring Reverb is not it's best sound...most digital reverbs don't do it so great. If you want spring specifically I would go with the True Spring from Source Audio or the Fender FRV-1.

Great deal!
A very well made presentation. Very informative and the playing is on point. I learned a lot about reverb from this. Congrats!
Glad it was helpful!
Totally agree!
Still swear there might be a piece of rice still stuck in there because I can hear something lightly moving around in there any time I pick it up.
just got the RV-7 two weeks ago, and I'm totally in love with the sound. Thanks for that great recommendation!!
Good choice!
Love videos like this about underappreciated gems. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Back in the day I had a Digitech GSP2101 multi effects processor tube preamp…it was amazing and ahead of it’s time!
For sure!!!
I have the Hardwire delay and overdrive and I love them both! Wish they were still around.
Love the delay too!
I remember shopping for a good reverb and played lots of them, but none of them touched what I wanted like this pedal did. I remember thinking "Am I getting a Digitech?!", and it's still in my rig to this day. Wonderful.
Thanks for sharing!
I like this episode! It helped me to understand how reverb effect work more (especially that Dann Huff part). Thanks for doing this, Mason🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Giant "Stay"
I have this pedal and it is amazing. It’s insane it got discontinued.
@@VertexEffectsInc Yes, the predelay toggle can get you into some trouble depending on the size of the room you're playing in.
I cherish my RV-7 so much I bought a spare. It's like a Lexicon PCM60 in a stompbox.
Sooo good!
Such a great pedal!
Thanks for sharing!
In your opinion, what is the best reverb pedal on the market? Is the RV-7 King? Let's talk in the comments below!
Supernatural and Polara! Somehow haven't tried the RV-7.
Neunaber Illumine. Perfect blend of power and user-friendly.
@@nickgarber30 they both come from the RV-7 and are mentioned in the video.
@@dannyllerenatv8635 great but it’s no Lexicon!
Mason - Your review is fantastic. i love the combination of the subjective listening with the technical, and picking the best tracks to demo the different reverb types. I have subscribed!
Much appreciated!
It’s a great pedal!!!
SUPER happy with my Hardwire Supernatural that I got at launch; it hasn't left my board since!
Have a supernatural reverb on my board - it’s fantastic
I have the rv-7 but yes the Supernatural is awesome - the shimmer is killer!
Yes, great pedal!
One of the best out there!!!
Excellent pedal Mason. I’ve had one in the past and really loved it. The Lexicon chip really sounds authentic. Definitely one one of the best sounding. But ur right the look didn’t help it
Using the EQD dispatch master now for my reverb and sometimes add a bit of delay too. Kinda wish I’d kept it. Don’t even want to say how cheap they were a few years ago
Right on!
I bought one when they first came out, just for the reverse reverb. Wild to see that they are worth so much now
I've had an RV-7 for a LONG time.
They're great!!!
I've never played the hardwire but the polara is great. I've loved seeing you shout it out in a few different videos now
They are both great
I've had this pedal forever and never found a reason to upgrade. it just sounds right. the spring reverb sounds better than my onboard fender spring verb. boutique snobs are fools for not scooping this one. the lexicon dsp is choice.
Thanks for the demo. Been looking for a good Reverb. Found one in a shop in Japan in new condition w/ the box and paperwork for $329.80. Bought it. Can't wait for it to get here.
found the dentist
Dude, I'm glad I watched this video! I had a hall of fame but it changed the tone of my guitar a lot. I bought the polara and I'm super happy
I bought a Polara, based on your use of it in another pedal/amp review - use it to open up my (non-reverb) TS-1 …. amazing! Thanks!
Here’s a weird reverb just for those who like ambient stuff is old blood noise sunlight. Favorite pedal I bought last year. But for basic reverb tones is specular tempus is my go to. It stacks well with my amp reverb without it getting too muddy.
Cool, you should try the RV-7!
Highly underrated! Also the Digidelay was one of my favorites.
Great pedals!!!
Love that clean tone with the Hall and DC 2w
Yes! 80's Arena Rock Tones!!!
They're the high water mark IMO!
I have the Reverb, Delay, Overdrive and the Tuner Pedal.
Very good quality
Agreed! 100%
Bought one today for a really good price on Ebay 👀 just because of this Video!
Beautiful Tones. Keep up the good work ✌🏽
Rock on! Enjoy!
This pedal does have reverse reverb and modulation also btw. It is a reverb you can use in a band not just the bedroom cuz its tasteful and not too overbearing.
I have used Digitech effects for years whether rack effects or foot pedals and they were always reliable and sounded great.
Yes!!!
It's great for the money...doesn't do Lexicon style delays however which is really the high-water mark.
@@VertexEffectsInc could you do a video that shows the difference between how the lexicon delays & the chip that's in the Reflecting Pool really sound?
@@MAP448 I think they were going for a different vibe altogether, not sure it would be so comparable.
I run straight into dry amps in full harmonic distortion or with a fuzz face on full tilt and work the volume knob for clean crunch and lead all the time.
Cool!
This pedal is so good that I hardly ever used it, lent it to someone whom I can't remember, and totally forgot that I ever owned it.
Time to get it back!!!
Fabulous pedal. Very easy to use . It works great on vocals and percussion too. Sucks quite a lot of power; I use a dedicated power supply for it. Well worth it.
Great pedal, no doubt!
I'm always swithing between my Flint and RV-7, depend if I need a tremolo in gig, because both are killer reverb unit.
Both are great!
I have a Digitech RP360XL multi effects. Amazing pedal for 2015 these amp and cab sim are top notch for a almost 10 yrs
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
I still gig with my Hardwire Tuner. I have always had my eye for this reverb pedal but since I gig with a Deluxe Reverb I never really saw the need to buy one.
Nice!
Soo good! It was a sad day when they stopped making them!
I love my Mercury7 because it has _only_ two, but great-sounding algorithms and a cool to me feature set. I use the RV-7 if I want double reverb.
Cool!
I’ve used this RV-7 pedal for a decade and love it. I favor the “Reverse” setting which was not featured in the video. It’s fantastic for ambient shoegaze music.
Yes, for Shoegaze it's key!!!
Cool!
Lol
I don't agree because only the Spring setting is acceptable.
I love digitech. I jump at the opportunity to pick up any of their pedals! The Turbo Flange is a favorite.
Yes, they have several classics!
@@VertexEffectsInc Oh, I totally agree with that. Sorry I left that out in my original comment. 🙂
That 'Hall' gives me a "Bop 'Til You Drop" Ry Cooder vibe, love it!
DOD/Digitech have always had amazing sounding pedals/effects units. Their Achilles heel has always been the hardware, mainly their footswitches wearing out/breaking.
The newer stuff, like the Hardwire and the later Digitech stuff before the Samsung buyout was all pretty good.
@@VertexEffectsInc All the stuff I had was pre-Hardwire (excluding my Whammy pedal reissue) and by then I was sick of their repair policy. You had to send to them and be without it for up to a month and any software upgrades had to happen whether you wanted them or not.
Those Hardwire pedals were super solid
It's a great pedal too, no doubt, but doesn't sound like the rack reverbs of the 80's.
Nice hat tip to the Supernatural. Although I have relegated it to desktop use for recording (to limit the footstomps); I'll never part with mine.
Supernatural is also great!
this is my reverb (when i need one).. the hardwire series is awesome. believe to your ears…
It really is!
I use digitech Polara, The best Reverb imo specially the Plate Reverb

@@ouwahoui8521 it was one of the green caps, I also cleaned all the pots and cable in and cable out
I had the supernatural and traded it for a boss md-2. Don’t regret it. The supernatural made me feel like I lived in a Phil Collins song in a bad way.
Were you using it on drums? Can’t get more iconic pop sounds from the 80’s and 90’s.
My Polara has only one reverb setting working. All of the others worked fine until they stopped working for no reason. I’m using the Strymon Zuma for power. A lot of other people are having the same issue without a solution. Help please !
When mine worked it was great it's been in the drawer for a couple of years now. Where can it be fixed at?
Not sure...if it's software you're probably screwed. Hardware stuff is fixable.
The reverse and mod reverbs are cool also (not covered here)
It's a great reverb pedal no doubt!
I bought a digiverb a year ago and it's awesome.
Very cool
I'll say this much Mason, My Hardwire Supernatural is still my best...I have it paired with a Neunaber WET. As to your question; I think the Ventris is the current reverb leader.
Ventris is great too, but for core reverbs this is still the most classic rack reverb.
How does it compare to the wet? I have the wet.
Ehhhh…🤔🤷🏻♂️😒
I currently own the WET.
@@jamiegustkey2573 can’t argue with that.

Very true!
Thank you-really nice HALL reverb for my tastes.
Glad you like it!
I had one of these and felt it was a great pedal. I went with original HOF and decided on that one and parting with the Digitech but maybe if I truly A/B’d hem now I might have kept it! That said the Collider by Source Audio is pretty solid and the True Spring is great.
Thanks for sharing!
I agree fully! The Polara is really the same basic platform, also has the Lexicon algorithms.
I have this pedal, and love it!
It's amazing!
Isn't the Polara using literally the same algos except with the Gate on the RV7 and Halo on the Polara?
Yes!
