I would like to apriciate for publicising this faboolous and amazing video about flying peafowles. Somemigt say they can't fly but this video shows that that fact is definitely false so according to this video this this type of birds do can fly. And it is interesting to see the feeder of their open wings during they flight.
I was today years old when i found out peacocks could fly. Legit, 21 years and i always thought they walked everywhere. It makes sense, thats a lot of walking, but i just never thought about it. That being said, i do live in the frozen hell scape that is Canada, so i have only seen a peacock once, in a zoo. But thank you op, you have made my rather drab day amazing.
I mean don't get me wrong gliding from treetop to treetop would be still be pretty cool, but... I haven't seen too many peacocks soaring among the clouds.
My daughter's bio teacher (year 11) just told the class that peacocks can't fly. We have peacocks so she was of course dying. I'll be forwarding this video to her.
It is unbelievable even when you see it with your own eyes. When I went to visit my grandparents in the country side, I would see as a kid this magnificent flying sparkling green bird soaring higher than the tallest of trees. It was an enchanting sight, choking me more was the knowledge that its owners are more than 4 kms away. If you'd tell me it was some sort of magical being I would of believed you!
That’s actually very hard or near-impossible to pull off because of the drag. But I still got your comment. It would be a very eye-catching sight to see a flying peacock with its open feathers.
As far as I know (and what Wikipedia tells me), peacocks' long feathers usually thought of as a tail isn't actually a tail, but elongated feathers from it's back. They use their actual tail to prop these feathers up. You can see the tail underneath the train at 1:49
They are so majestic! Thanks for the video. We have about 30 peacocks in the neighborhood where I work and I've tried to catch the males flying but haven't gotten lucky yet.
I'm surprised that the majority westerners thought peacocks are flightless birds👀😮 Well they are very good at flying but they need more space so if you never seen peacock fly in zoo or in woody habitat provided then it's not peacock fault. They are not very agile they can only fly in straight direction with little tilts. And they can fly upto 15m and can cover 70m distance in one flight. From India (National bird) very often we can see them here.
Actually peacocks are very large birds they need huge forest trees to sit or else they will sit on floor and look like flighless. They are not small birds that are agile every second and small enough to stand on any small thin branch. What happens that peacocks mainly love to sit easily on land as they rarely get big trees with thick branch in human area. That's why keep sitting and people think they are flighess.
Large birds need larger area to fly but actually the people don't want the peacock to fly. Peole want to keep peacocks near where they live. Peacocks only fly when needed when they don't need they will sit easily
so there might be orange peacocks in the ancient times which people called Phoenix or maybe it was just white peacocks flying during evening that it reflected the orange sunlight making it looks like it's on fire.
All these people saying the peacocks are falling/gliding, yet at 0:57 and 1:33 shows male peacocks with their complete trains straight up flying and gaining altitude, not falling/gliding at all. Yes they can fly, the males can too, when they have their trains it's more awkward to fly but yes indeed they can fly like any other bird that can. How else would they get up in those trees? Or on top of houses? I can't imagine they climb or jump, because that's not how they got up there. They flew.
i couldnt believe i saw one flying today. i came here to see if my eyes saw true. it was such an excitement seeing it glide in the sky bc of the fast winds during sunset.

Interesting observation! Have a great weekend!
Allen Ravenix a peacock is a real life Phoenix lol
I’m certain there’s some mythology behind that that I’m not aware of

I think that Peacock are the descendants of Chinese Phoenix 😊🖤

Maybe because their life style is kind of similar to chickens?
I still refuse to believe they can fly
Because of ‘the other guys’
You thought their famous plumage were their wings? I did.
Imagine what people from Europe must have thought when they first saw these birds! Like creatures right out of a fairytale. Beautiful beings!
I'm always amazed that these birds, who have such heavy tails with tons of drag resistance, can still fly so well.
Thank you for your comment!
they r not heavy lol
Am I the only one who actually thought that peacocks glided like in Kung-fu Panda 2?
Sorry...didn't see that movie. But peacocks sometimes glide, as some of the videos show.

Your Everyday Etheo me too i thought thats how they flew but if they did it would be AWSOME!

U not alone😂
Impressive that the males can fly so high with such long feathers on the back.
Right, but the feathers are very light. Thanks for watching!
They can’t fly very far, and those tail feathers certainly aren’t doing them any favors
