Penix is something else. I was at the Michigan State game. He was under pressure, and the receivers were actually well covered. Yet he put up insane numbers.
Been a Husky fan for 45 years. Penix is the best QB that we've ever had, and that's saying a lot. Better than Brunell, Moon, Tuiasosopo, Browning, Locker. No doubt. But you've got to give some credit to his receivers also, Odunze, Polk, McMillan, Bernard, Westover, Culp, and Johnson. Best group of receivers in college football. The thing that sets Penix apart is that he sees the whole field, not just the coverage and all his receivers (he rarely throws an interception) but he does that while keeping an eye on the pass rush. Penix rarely gets sacked too.
Come draft time they are going to MURDER this kids throwing mechanics but he can absolutely sling it.... his ball placement is exceptional and you can even still see room for improvement. Hes got great potential
Kinda reminds me of mahomes a bit where he has all the arm talent in the world and doesnt require his feet to be set and doesnt need to rely on mechanics.... if he sits for a year like mahomes and refines his technique as well as gets acclimated to the speed of the nfl he could be deadly,... not saying he needs to sit tho
@@WhoGotGuapi was thinking the same thing..his arm angle is lower then it should be..the biggest reason he hasn’t had balls batted down is because of how deep he drops in the pocket...in the NFL thats not going to be possible since DL are much quicker getting up the field and much taller.
Dude throws one of the pretties balls ive seen. Not only the power he throws with but the fucking spiral on almost every throw makes ot easier for his receicers to catch. Hes definitely got top notch arm talent.
As I watched his release I’m like oh hell nah that ain’t gonna work then I kept watching and saw the zip and strength and said well maybe he just got an unorthodox way of throwing lol
For in depth analysis: Caleb Isn’t as raw as other QBs with his talent, making him a sure #1. Drake Maye is as consistent as can be. Penix, however, is the best QB in college football atm, no doubt about it. Drake Maye hasn’t even played good competition yet and he’s already thrown 4 ints.
@@falcon1378 maye has played good not great. But Williams is the best qb in cfb and it’s not even close. Caleb wouldn’t throw for 0 passing tds vs Arizona 😂

@@desensodaddy He’s everything we hope DJ could be - mobile, amazing arm talent, doesn’t lock onto his first progression, and most importantly can make pre-snap reads…
Someone is gonna get a stud with this kid. Injury history may scare a few teams away and someone may steal him mid first round. 3rd QB off the board after Williams and May IMO
I am so glad my Broncos are bad at the right time Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Penix. I really want Drake Maye but if we get Penix I’m not mad at it 😎
Amazing release, super quick, swift, and efficent. Left handed qbs have such a pretty release and swag about their mechanics. Unless youre tim tebow. Tua has a nice release, Mike Vick especially had my favorite throwing motion. Nigga was out there throwing darts!
Sheesh!! This kid has a gun for an arm. He makes throws effortlessly but the ball jumps out his hand and with a nice spin on it. If he can stay healthy he can become a starter imo. He reminds me of Steve McNair.
Problem is if you draft him you need a top 3 O-line in the league, given his injury history he could be out for long periods of time if he's not protected effectively.
Why Caleb Williams will still be the first Draft pick. Penix's injury history a definite concern. In the NFL every team has O-line issues because the defenses are so fast up front. A QB has to get rid of the ball in two seconds .... intermediate passes more important than long bombs.
@@osirisapex7483he seems to be spending a lot of time in these clips to be waiting on that first read to get open. Very very bad habit to develop. If he can learn to speed it up, he could be the next Dante Culpepper.
I wanna see how he is with constant pressure in his face though. These clips he had 4 seconds every play. Either he got hogs up front or the other teams just suck
And throwing over the middle. Looks like his release point is very low. NFL lineman will bat that ball down because those deep out/fade routes are gonna be covered.
I still don't know how good Penix is. That offense makes things really easy. He's under no pressure and the routes he's throwing are wide open. QBs like that usually struggle to adapt in the NFL where guys are not running wide open and you don't have all day to throw. But for UW, he's perfect.
He's accurate, athletic and has a big arm...but he stares down his first read and forces the ball at times. The NFL will teach him some tough lessons. GREAT college QB though.
Sure those are his highlights, but talk about his shortcomings...teams will look for those as well. Like his low arm trajectory for example. Which will make him susceptible to batted balls ESPECIALLY in the NFL

Don’t get me wrong, immaculate power and accuracy, but it looks like some of these throws wouldn’t fly in the nfl. Looks like he’s just throwing it up into a 50/50 sometimes and his receivers bail him out.

When they have good throwing motions yes but it’s very rare left handed you have a few guys Vick, tua, penix to name a few

Man it’s like the dude has a WR heat seeker in the ball. Crazy throws.
The back shoulder pass to from the far left hash was spectacular!!
He’s barely stepping into the throws half time and he still throws rockets. Amazing!
Part of the reason for that is he’s torn his right acl twice so he’s been skittish about planting and exploding through because of it.
Was just looking for a good highlight video of him yesterday and there wasn’t any. Perfect timing!
He’s So poised. He commands the offense well!
The last two years watching these guys play for my University has been something special to watch! Good luck to these boys at the next level!
Elite throw power. His mechanics are interesting, but he throws with a lot of power and accuracy
Ayeeee what up gla?!
He looks like a mix of Tua and Herbert - leftie and great ball placement like Tua and an arm and deep balls like Herbert.
Exactly what I see
