The Lost Dutch Treasure Ships Off The Coast Of Australia | Search For Sunken Treasure | Timeline

  • Much of the west coast of Australia was discovered by accident when Dutch treasure galleons ploughed into its fringing coral reefs and left chests of gold and silver on the coral floor.
    Ben Cropp has discovered hundreds of shipwrecks, including the famous Pandora of Bounty fame but there are thousands more still hidden in a watery grave. For example, its believed the Japanese pirate Yamada Nagamasa buried his enormous loot on Magnetic Island. It is rumored to be worth $100 million, and has never been found. Ben finds a strange symbol carved in a prominent rock on Magnetic Island, opposite the only bay a ship could safely anchor in. Is this symbol the proverbial x marking the spot?
    So what became of all the gold and silver that fate often cruelly snatched from its rightful owners? Some were recovered, some lost forever, but much still remains for the intrepid treasure hunter who is prepared to research the facts, sift through the legends, and give it a try.
    Ben's film will take us around Australia to where these sunken treasures lie.

      I think government didn’t like the competition so it outlawed treasure hunting. Now many artifacts will be lost to time.

    As an Indigenous person I'm in two minds about this kind of stuff. As much as i want records to be kept, i know once these sacred sites get destroyed by tourism/ rubbish and people literally trying to scrub it off or paint over it.
    Please if you ever go to these Caves, DO NOT TOUCH.
    I know it may sound like I'm spitting nonsense, maybe if you can't believe a Kamilaroi man, you can go and watch Adam Greentree's content on why he wont reveal the sites & locations that he was shown by the local tribes. It's too common for our culture to be destroyed. That its far better to be cautious/prevent these things rather than sad & trying to mend broken stuff.
    Also please do not be like Ben, do not bring your dog in to dig holes, please don't touch the walls/ paintings, its all incredibly disrespectful!

    As a fellow diver these people are making me SO MAD. The first thing you are taught is LEAVE THE FISHES AND CORAL ALONE, but these guys are turning over anything thats not stuck to the seafloor. They are even physically pulling the fishes out of their hiding places so they can film them. WHAT IN THE NAME OF NEPTUNE DO THEY THINK THEY ARE DOING?! These people aught to be arrested

      Arrested for moving a fish 14 inches to one side? Are you mad? You do realize the fish can *and will* simply move back to where it was 5 minutes later, right?

    The video was fine but it was really bothersome watching him throw stuff back in the ocean to rot that is surly valuable if not financially at least for historical reasons. I know laws and stuff but lol whats not on camera cant be proven

    Dumb Australian laws. They would rather the treasure stay at the bottom of the sea then be of some use and value to somebody. Whatever Politicians made that up I really don't like

      @@onsterfelijke There is no historical property until it's found. There is no finding it without capital incentive.

    • @polarguyinak1
      @polarguyinak1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      onsterfelijke, the natural elements are in the ongoing process of destroying the property. Recovering it can ensure it's preserved and put a stop to corrosion and calcification. Also, what's the point of "protecting" the ability of tye ocean to devour and permanently lose the artifacts? That makes no sense whatsoever.
