The one thing I like about it is that every time a James Bond is released the building has its very own private screening of it & everyone apparently cheered when the building was blown up in the Skyfall film.
Decades ago, I applied to GCHQ. I thought I was applying to the people who put out public information messages, which is in fact the Central Office of Information. Hey it was 1978. We didn’t know. I was invited to take part in a civil service exam, which in itself usual. It was at the Bishopsgate Institute in London. It ran all day with a lunch break. I realised a few minutes into the exam that it was all about finding information from restricted data. Shit, I said silently (it was an exam after all), this is about spies! How could I leave? I concluded that I would hang on until lunch then bugger off, which is what I did. I left then and kept walking. I ended up in Virgin Records in Marble Arch, where I ran into Blondie.
Mate you might have been put on a list somewhere for suspiciously leaving without saying anything lol
@@Oxley016 But this is Britain and sometimes it’s useful being a girl. They, in the words of Bush, misunderestimate you.
@@Joanna-il2ur Yeah but I'm saying that because of the manner of your exit they may have thought you were a rival agent scoping them out, we had women agents back then too.
Here's a snippet for you. The US embassy is only a stones throw away at Nine Elms, Vauxhall. The MI6 building was attacked on 21st Sept 2000 by the Real IRA with a RPG missile. It only caused minor damage (a broken window and two wall panels) on the 8th floor and no one was injured.
It wouldn't be surprised if most of the working parts of the building are deep underground and possibly not exactly below MI6 HQ - probably a tunnel connects to a huge cavern like structure, maybe deep under the Thames. They dug Crossrail aka The Elizabeth line below the Thames - perhaps the boring machines did some clandestine additional burrowing! There is much we will never know.
Gun range to deal with American grey squirrels, of course!
Hurrah! 😁
🤣
Red squirrels are on the rise, slowly 👍🏻💪🏻🇬🇧

Those damned Red (sleeper) Squirrels have been activated..! 😎

Cue the James Bond theme.
London, and it's suburbs, is awash with nondescript government buildings
Especially Westminster the home office has moved so many times since the 80s
Tapping the nose...only those who need to knows.
Thanks for that, interesting!
I was there today weirdly.
Great video. 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
My former Boss before I retired the service was the Sistser-in-Law of Elizabeth Lydia Manningham-Buller, who was Director General of MI5.
this is by far the best video you have reacted to.
I'm sorry Connor, but I WON'T be using the sponsor/advertised company (NOT so 'Brilliant') - It say's (6.15 approx.) - "What is your MATH comfort level" - If it can't advertise to the UK without using an Americanism, I wouldn't bother to use its services LOL! Just saying...😅 😂 🤣
no one beats sean connery
As you said they have other buildings which are really secret .
Fan Fact: At one time or another Military Intelligence sections went up to MI-19 (Enemy prisoner of war interrogation). Most where disbanded or merged after WW2. For some reason MI-13 and MI-18 were never used, or are they so top secret nobody knows about them?
When I was younger, I used to go to school in central London and I would get a taxi into school every single day and I would go past his building and always wondered what it was until my mum told me that it was the MI6 headquarters.
M16 officially ís nonexistent.............qúick, hide the buildiñg..............
GCHQ is just as secretive .
Who yold you??
google it
@@anthonymckay5568
GCHQ created NSA. MI6 created OSS which became the CIA. British Empire rules!
@@anthonymckay5568
"Who YOLD you"! Is that in code? - (That's what happens by putting the 'T' & 'Y' next to each other on a keyboard) - LOL.
@@anthonymckay5568 If we told you that we would have to unalive you
James Bond?... there's really only one....
"My name is Pussy Galore"
"Hmm... I think I must be dreaming!"
Sean Connery. 'THE' 007.
that building is the real SIS building. Vauxhall Cross.
Present day GCHQ is just down the road from Bletchley Park.
Not really, I wouldn't walk it!
About 70 miles away
@@chrismackett9044 Not far in the US ;-)
It is not. I live one mile from GCHQ.
I think you are confused with the foreign and commonwealth listening station at Hanslope Park
I expect the design was approved and signed off by the Chinese
Always thought it looked dour and KGBish
Pierce Brosnan? N64? Game Cube? How old are you? Thought you were like 23....
Pretty sure he's just coming up to 30. Annoyingly he looks a lot younger 😂
Sean Connery Daniel Craig Roger Moore Peirs Brosnan in that order.
Yes, Sean Connery has always been my favourite... 😎
Roger Moore, Sean Connery and the rest don't count.
Here a snippet for you, I got asked to apply to join MI6 they kept sending me emails I wonder how they got my email address Do you think they were spying on me, This went on for about 3 months. I did think about it though.

That’s a hot take. At least you didn’t say Lazenby was best 😂
@@charlottehardy822Lazenby was defo the best bond 😍
