Excellent combination! haha and I agree :( Kardashian copying motherfuckers! but we still have our Diadora Borg Elites! and Ed Moses! they haven't ruined those yet!
That intro.....I'm dying xDDDDD You two are some of my favorite reviewers, so seeing your senses of humor in the same video is pretty much the greatest thing ever.
I miss the 80s bro. Brings soo much great memories...MTV !...and all those great shows and don't forget the music...! Ah..those great times hanging around with family and friends... no smart phones... i am wanting to go back...ha...ha...
Cool man, great time for fragrance releases that rocks and also one of the great era of rock music, rock on Mr. Smelly! Your contents are really great.
To me, growing up in the former Soviet Union in the 80's, it was all about acid washed jeans and jackets, pure white puma sneakers, Lacoste shirts with collar turned up, skate boards, especially after Gleaming the Cube was shown on tv, and of course, europop music such as modern talking. They were HUGE in the Soviet Union. Fragrance wise, I made full use of my dad's bottle - and I do mean a bottle, it was one liter :) - of polish-made consul. Boy, I loved that scent. It's making a comeback where I'm at, alongside many of the former favorites from Poland, Bulgaria, and Czechoslovakia
Thanks Tal. I had actually wondered what fragrances they had in the eastern bloc countries. Would love to find out more about them. I assume western designer stuff was near unavailable?
why unavailable? if lacoste shirts and puma sneakers were on sale, granted not everywhere, but for the right price, consignment shops had them. fragrance-wise, my dad had jules by dior, paco raban pour homme, and chanel pour monsieur. my mom's perennial favorites were climat, magie noir, and nina by nina ricci, to name a few. no, we didn't have any british or american frags, but somehow i don't think we were missing out :) pop acts, on the other hands, were very popular. samantha fox, and later in the 80's, kylie minogue were the ubiquitous pinup girls. i had glossy pictures of them on the wall across from my bed too :) so in many ways, my teenage years were as different from yours as can be, but also pretty similar in many other ones.
Oh ok! Sorry I just wasn't sure if west European fragrances made it to the USSR back then. Agreed, you didn't miss much if UK and USA frags weren't widely sold!
MrSmelly1977 it's all good, man. Yes, we had shortages of basic commodities too, but that didn't hit until late in 89. The early 90s were very rough. Maybe I'm romanticizing the period since I was just a kid back then, but in hindsight, these were some great times, even if we didn't have stores full of mass produced crap on every corner. Know what I mean?
Outstanding review! I love your presentation Lex and Mr Smelly! I grew up in the Reagan era, the 80s. We didn't have the technology of today but the times were Quintessential and we kept it real! Indeed, the decade that brought us Miami Vice and Magnum PI just to mention a few. In our late teens, we proudly rocked Polo, Drakkar, Z-14, Kouros, Paco. The scents were truly PowerHouse and Masculine Masterpieces that exemplified Cool. Keep up the Enthusiasm Gentlemen.... Cheers, GQ
I can't even recall how many times I splashed on some Obsession before a date in the mid to late '80's and early '90's. In those days, most of the designers issued edt splashes in addition to atomizer bottles and because you would get a few more ounces of splash for nearly the same price, I usually went the splash bottle route. A splash in the early evening meant you, your shirt and jacket, and bedding smelled of it long into the next morning. Paul Sebastian's PS got me some of my best compliments. Sebastian had another one called V.S.0.P. which was a really classy fragrance meant to be worn with a suit. I really miss it as wells as those days of flirting with the always incredibly attractive fragrance dept. salesgirls in Macys when buying colognes. They would always throw in a load of sample vials.
U forgot SANTOS DE CARTIER which was actually the most SOPHISTICATED/CLASSY scent of the 80’s. However the reformulations over the years since the 80’s have basically killed its magic. KING KOUROS however STILL smells virtually as good as it did. Tip buy from BOOTS only because it’s 100% authentic. Also give the bottle a good shake then use a few ml then leave to oxidise for a couple of weeks. THEN it’s a lot stronger!
My all time favorite is: Aramis "New West" ...A hidden jewel that nobody talks about ever! I remember it to be one of the greatest summer fragrances of the late 80s, alongside Cool Water, Aqua di Gio, and Polo Sport
I was growing up in the 80s and I had almost all of those except Creed, only to move on to completely different fragrances later but I've recently re-discovered Kouros and Cacharel Pour Homme and I love both and wear them often.
One of the most fun frag videos I ever saw! Great work guys! Love the hair! Love the workout program, I'm on it and my ball hair is growing like crazy!!
damn, i love 80´s mullets sooo much!!! an era of decadence !!!!! that´s why i like it!!! it´s something nice and special with that hint of retro weirdness. Cheers to Europe band and Whitesnake !!!! they rule!!!! :D
Great video Guys as usual, these fragrances certainly were made to get noticed, and they out performed all the scents that are released today. Just bought Opium pour homme, still a great scent, very classy.
Great video! Have you or Lex made a review of 'Santos de Cartier'? I think that was released in the 80's and is a gorgeous, powerhouse that deserves a seat in the 80's pantheon along with Antaeus, Kouros et al...
Great work guys, really enjoyed this. So good to see reviewers looking back in time and appreciate the old school. I just picked up a bottle of Quartz by molyneux, good and cheap reminds me a little of Cacharel.
There's a interest for the 80s by the younger generation which I can understand but believe me guys, everything labeled neo-retro 80s stuff is like reformulation for a fragrance : close to the original but nothing like the original. When you pulled that bottle of Paco Sport, wow I got thrown back in 1984, rocking a mullet and stealing from my father's perfume collection, about to go for a date. Sweet memories ! Did you notice how we went from perfumes with great character to generic metrosexual juices. Went downhill, kinda like masculinity in a way.
You want to feel the 80s at its essence?..just watch miami vice..it will transport you to a wonderful world...even if you didn't live in that decade..you can almost smell the 80s powerhouse fragrances coming through the screen!!!
can't wait to smell Bois du portugal, my decant will probably arrive next week. Armani eau pour homme looks like an Incandescent light bulb lol ... I liked Azzaro pour homme so maybe Armani will be in the same category.
Ah yes! A great scent that was much worn in the 80s but as it was released in 1978 it didn't qualify for this list. Stay tuned for the 1970s top ten . Polo Green will be in!
In those days (and I remember them well), if you reached for the Polo, you didn't call it Polo Green as that was all there was. Paul Sebastian's PS from 1979 was also worn quite a bit and at night most guys were still into Paco (as was yours truly). If you can ever get a sniff of Sebastian's long discontinued V.S.O.P. from 1982, you'll find it's up there with Chanel Pour Monsieur for the "class in a bottle" title.
Lex Ellis and Mr.Smelly.I enjoy your videos and your approach on fragrances...But In the NAME OF GOD,how come you didn't refer to Drakkar Noir????Greetings from Greece!
dan@lex great work:)jejus i rem thay commmodore 64 lol.take a week to load a game tru cassete,b4 dat tink we had a spectrum lol.the beatamix video player who remembers dat?was very important to leave a chloth on the pop up vhs to cover it lol.we had a moble video van in ireland back then, every week same fookin video ENTER THE DRAGON:)followed my the moble buger man:)porn were in mag form, the muff was a sight back then jaysus:)long live ron jeremy:)
Are those popular in the UK during the 80s or something?? Where is Drakkar and Polo by Ralph Lauren, Pierre Cardin and Armani? Theres a bunch more but the 80s were a blur?
A great list. The only one I miss is davidoff davidoff (original) which is the best frag from the house of davidoff on my opinion. Even one of the best 80s power house frag.
Mr Dan, you should look into Monogram, by Ralph Lauren. It came in a blue bottle n was the scent that started it all for me back in the 80s. it's great n fantastic stuff. the honeys sure loved it.
You look too young to remember the 1980's. You had the Commodore 64, I had the Atari 800XL. I could have had the entire Creed collection with almost every Chanel for Men offering for the amount of money I spent on my first Intel 286 computer with a whopping 32 mb HD in 1989! I still have my bottle of Kouros from the late 1980's and I should have bought Paco Sport back then. Armani Eau Pour Homme was one of the few aquatics I enjoyed, although I would consider it a semi-aquatic. I bought Cool Water when it first came out and couldn't wait to finish the bottle so I didn't have to look at it any more! Not one of my favorites. Personally, for me the scents of the decade were Obsession and Drakkar Noir with Pierre Cardin Musk in there as well. I also really liked Paul Sebastian's VSOP (1982) and spent a good deal of time wearing Paul Sebastian's PS and Azzaro Pour Homme from 1979 and 1978, respectively.
I went to a catholic school. In 5th grade camp i took cologne with me and wore iron a few times.while eating breakfast .one of the nuns pulled me aside and asked if i had brung any deodorants with me to camp.i said yes.she said i wasn't suppose to and not for me to use it anymore haha i must've been drowned in the stuff .
That was awesome! But seriously, why no Joop! Homme? Fahrenheit >> all. And yes, Adidas Superstars are the best sneakers ever (although come to think of it, they were released almost two decades earlier!).
Io vado matto per Kouros, Antaeus e Lapidus. I’m fond of Kouros, Antaeus and Lapidus. It’s too manly and sexy and smells like my skyn naturally smells. I really enjoy it. Sorry about my english.
could you please give a warning before you show pixel porn?! I was expecting fragrance content and now i have to change my underwear. ps: thanks for the new fetish.
My only regret is not growing my hair out for this video! hahaha!
God I jizzed watching this...SO...MUCH...80s!....*passes out*
Just grew out the ball hair like an 80's man Instead :)
A wise decision indeed! hahaha
Thanks a lot for doing this Lex! The tunes are amazing!
Oh no Dan! thank YOU! this video was perfection! and I NEED that wig + blazer combo, like at this point I think it's went from a desire to a NEED.
Excellent combination! haha and I agree :( Kardashian copying motherfuckers! but we still have our Diadora Borg Elites! and Ed Moses! they haven't ruined those yet!
Can't do an 80's video without the legend, Lex Ellis!
Fair play to both of you for this one! Salute as always.
Fougères FTW! =]
That intro.....I'm dying xDDDDD You two are some of my favorite reviewers, so seeing your senses of humor in the same video is pretty much the greatest thing ever.
Thanks a lot. It was great to get Lex to be in this one. He was the first person that I saw some review of these fragrances.
I miss the 80s bro. Brings soo much great memories...MTV !...and all those great shows and don't forget the music...! Ah..those great times hanging around with family and friends... no smart phones... i am wanting to go back...ha...ha...
Now that's a brilliant review Mr Smelly ! I enjoyed every minute of it...Short and complete description ...Thank you very much !
Cool man, great time for fragrance releases that rocks and also one of the great era of rock music, rock on Mr. Smelly! Your contents are really great.
Two out of three of my favorite guys for fragrance reviews in one video. Sick.
I Love this take. You look like an 80's Rock Star and the background synthesizer is so Cool!😆
Thanks Daniel. Lex composed and recorded that track . It's called sunset in venice and it's on his channel.
videos getting better and better!!!!!!!!!!!!! loved this oneeeeee !!!!!!!
Thanks a lot Hielo King!!!!!!!
great Collaboration guys...the two best UK reviewers, and ideal for this type of retro review. love it

Once again, great job. A well done video with a touch of silliness. Fantastic fragrances, also. Over all, another classic. Cheers.
Polo, Obsession and Drakkar were the three I wore in the 80's.
Don't forget Obsession, Paul Sebastian and the long forgotten Pierre Cardin Musk.
Agreed! Paul S and Obsession were the Quintessential colognes worn by the IROC Guidos of the 1980s! Unforgettable smells!
I can't even recall how many times I splashed on some Obsession before a date in the mid to late '80's and early '90's. Super great collaboration gentlemen! Love my old 80s fragrances! Awesome reviews.

Yes I have tried the reissue of that and I like it a lot. Aramis Havana from the 90s is also great.
@@MrSmelly1977 Shocked Oscar De La Renta Pour Lui wasn't on this list.
A kick ass list Mr. Smelly. Thanks.
Great 80's Frags indeed. I wore Azzaro Pour Homme and Beverly Hills Red back then.
Great stuff! Need to start looking at the classics more
damn, i love 80´s mullets sooo much!!! an era of decadence !!!!! that´s why i like it!!! it´s something nice and special with that hint of retro weirdness. Cheers to Europe band and Whitesnake !!!! they rule!!!! :D
Liverpool FC domination, Kevin Keegans mullet and Armani pour homme are my best memories of the 80's. Great informative vid by the way.
Great video Guys as usual, these fragrances certainly were made to get noticed, and they out performed all the scents that are released today.
Just bought Opium pour homme, still a great scent, very classy.
I wore Trophée Lancome in the 80's,miss the fantastic fragrance so much and of course the fabolous decade.
What about Drakkar Noir, Obsession, and Joop?
Those all suck ass
Rad Video! Keep em coming!!
Great video! Have you or Lex made a review of 'Santos de Cartier'? I think that was released in the 80's and is a gorgeous, powerhouse that deserves a seat in the 80's pantheon along with Antaeus, Kouros et al...
Loved wearing Korous in the eighties. Loved the eighties.
haha awesome video.. loved it.. and fahrenheit def number 1 ... still my fav fragrance... ahhh i miss the 80's. Great video!
Great work guys, really enjoyed this. So good to see reviewers looking back in time and appreciate the old school. I just picked up a bottle of Quartz by molyneux, good and cheap reminds me a little of Cacharel.

I hated Kouros and suddenly fell in love with it especially on the dry down. It is a masterpiece.
Sick vid! Antaeus is my favourite frag from the 80s. Almost a signature of mine.
Polo, though created in the late 70s, is the king of the 80s.
Great video, nonetheless 😎
My mom met the guy who created polo green years ago. Said he was a very nice man.
Loved this!! Love the 80's and don't tell anybody but I'm a huge fan of all the hair bands. Great choices and a couple i need to try.
Thanks Ryan . I love Whitensake, Van Halen, Motley Crue and Racer X!!!!
Yes those were the days. So many great ones:)
holy shit Racer X was mentioned in a fragrance video !
I'm loving your hair on this! They clearly had some style back in the 80s haha some hairstyles are timeless and epic haha
love the idea love this video.
Great vid! Love your Lex collaborations. Please pass the wig back to Chad from AGentleMansJourney when your done with it lol.
Thanks Lex. I like your list of fragrance. zam from Kuala Lumpur. Im still using Ferenheit. iuv Armani eau pour homme bought 1990.
Brilliant Dan brilliant 👏
Great video idea
You want to feel the 80s at its essence?..just watch miami vice..it will transport you to a wonderful world...even if you didn't live in that decade..you can almost smell the 80s powerhouse fragrances coming through the screen!!!
Great list!
VERY good list! Love the original Jules and Paco Rabanne Sport!!!
Thanks very much. I should have mentioned that I discovered Paco Rabanne Sport and Bowling Green thanks to you.
Cool, cheers!
can't wait to smell Bois du portugal, my decant will probably arrive next week. Armani eau pour homme looks like an Incandescent light bulb lol ... I liked Azzaro pour homme so maybe Armani will be in the same category.
Great video , but i think u missed Trussardi Uomo, Drakkar Noir . Keep up with great vids.
Boss no 1, the king of colognes
I loved the 80's 😁
Mr Smelly, what's your take on YSL Jazz and Xeryus Rouge? I remember Jazz being so popular in 90s but not sure if it was actually an 80s creation
TSAR , JAZZ , POLO GREEN, JOOP HOMME,
wow what a good memorize from the 80S
you should do another review on the 90S
thanks
great video gents, brillaint choices, my top 80s would be antaues, GIT and Fahrenheit.
Thanks a lot Waseem. Hard to argue with that trio. I know you share my appreciation of Antaeus.
i was waiting for your old school polo green!!!
That wig and blazer combo looks tailor made for some virgin island water and a stroll down Miami beach lol. Fahrenheit will always be one of my faves!
I think Victor & Rolf should release ”Castorium Bomb Extreme”.
For when you want to make an impression.
I want a scent that smells like a walk through the Scottish countryside... top notes of turnips, rye, and dead sheep.
Actually... Kenzo Jungle pour homme. Like a zesty horse stable in a meadow.
Next did a beautiful aftershave in the mid to late 1980s. It was in a silvery grey box. Is there any way I could get a bottle of it. I’d give my arm
im wearing hair gel while watching this. Something-about-mary style.
Dude you are the man!! 😂💯
Lex Ellis and Mr.Smelly.I enjoy your videos and your approach on fragrances...But In the NAME OF GOD,how come you didn't refer to Drakkar Noir????Greetings from Greece!
Nice vid!

sorry i meant to say mobile burger van not buger van lmfao.even doh ther was a local buger van also, tink they caught them cunts:)
Unfortunetly they disscontinued it as they did with relax and Zino (a shame). But Vermeil pour l'home is damn close to davidoff original.
Ysl jazz late 80's was incredible
Awesome list!! missed animal in there. how about a 90's list to???
Nice
did you try fiero when sampling xerjoff, mr smelly? i feel it's in this 80s lane with a modern twist.
lol the 80s was truly the BEST decade...really
I agree with you completely 👍
Mr Dan, you should look into Monogram, by Ralph Lauren. It came in a blue bottle n was the scent that started it all for me back in the 80s. it's great n fantastic stuff. the honeys sure loved it.
Guy in glasses sitting, I can't understand you. Can you list your cologne names. Thanks
Hahaha. Two of my favorite united.
Thanks my friend!
Someone used the tardis to see this video and reported back causing brexit.
ever got your hand on Santos de Cartier ?
I also really liked Paul Sebastian's VSOP (1982) and spent a good deal of time wearing Paul Sebastian's PS and Azzaro Pour Homme from 1979 and 1978, respectively.
i don't get any animalic notes in the 2016 Dior Jules
I'm just here for the wig and pushed up jacket sleeves...
I would say Stetson, Elizabeth Taylor Passion for men and Joop! Homme should also be considered as some of the best eighties scents.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I went to a catholic school. In 5th grade camp i took cologne with me and wore iron a few times.while eating breakfast .one of the nuns pulled me aside and asked if i had brung any deodorants with me to camp.i said yes.she said i wasn't suppose to and not for me to use it anymore haha i must've been drowned in the stuff .
That was awesome! But seriously, why no Joop! Homme? Fahrenheit >> all. And yes, Adidas Superstars are the best sneakers ever (although come to think of it, they were released almost two decades earlier!).
Yeah 1960s, but still a classic, the first all leather upper basketball shoe I believe!
I like cavin by calvin klein
I saw Dragon Ball Z on Lex's glasses!
Drakkar Noir was the superstar of 80s and middle 90s Most of the time they avoid to mention it because is not Dior or ysl or channel
Was expecting Drakkar Noir to be among your top 10...perhaps twas too animalistic for some.
How isn't drakkar noir in the list?
And a dead ringer for David Coverdale.
Thanks a lot my friend. I am a big Whitesnake fan! All eras! From Bernie Marsden to Steve Vai!
I thing , Zino is missing from this classical list.
I think that Chanel Antaeus and Kouros are so different...
I agree they are very different with just a passing similarity. Antaeus is my preference.
KING KOUROS will always be the GUVNA!
Which one did women like the most on a guy in the early eighties?
*You`re a better looking version of Vince Neil from Motley Crue!!!*
Much appreciated!
Kouros: the 80s, captured in an enameled bottle.
I bet your wig smells amazing!!!
Sorry dude but zx spectrum was the bomb
lol. That hair is totally you lol.
