Thank you so much for this video… I lost my husband, he did the weed whacking, and had no idea how to do this. I was asking neighbors for help then remembered my husband telling me that if I ever need help with anything…. Just TH-cam it♥️
Well, I'm sorry about your husband but your comment made my day so thank you! Glad I could help!
🙏🙏🙏
Whoever invented this needs to get paid big! I took it apart to do it the old fashioned way and then landed at this video… boy was I making it harder than it needed to be
👍🙂
I started doing the same thing and remembered I had a wind up head for my echo and wondered if this was similar. Sure enough...😂
The same happened to me…thank God for TH-cam videos
Thanks 😊
🙂👍
I don't think you guys that do these "how to" videos understand how much you impact lives. It is such a good feeling to do something yourself and not always have to ask for help. Thank you!!!!
Such a great comment! Thank you, and I'm glad this helped!

Agree...
We look for nice short unembellished videos and you hit the nail on the head. Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you!!! I am 70 years old and your video helped me tremendously. God bless!!!
Great! Glad I could help!
I fought with this weedeater over and over again. I happened to see your video and I went out and had it done in 10 minutes. Thanks so much for sharing.
YW!
Cheers, mate. Tried mine out for the first time today and got it snagged on some stringy grass at my mum's place and snapped the line. Just pulled the cord out and re-fed it through as per your video. 👍
Great!
This deserves a like. No bull or intro. Straight to the point
😁👍
Ty so much for sharing your knowledge. I just upgraded and ran out. I didn’t realize how easy it would be until your video. Ty again for doing this. 😊
Thanks for the nice comment!
I wanted to tell you thank you. My husband is out of town and my neighbor wanted to borrow our weed whacker. However, he didn’t know how to restring it. I threw up your video and did it myself. Very helpful. Thank you.❤
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Husband out of town? Wife helping the man next door? YEEEAH 😏 I SEE
Dude thank you, I havent been able to trim because for the life of me I could not figure out to to restring this thing.
I thought I did it correctly, and then it would work for a minute and all the string would wind out. I was doing it just the completely incorrect way.
You saved me. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad this was helpful!
Very clear HELPFUL video, thank you for making it! My trimmer only has 1 white line on it, so I couldn't match the pieces using 2 white lines, but it went together easily and works perfectly. Yippee!
Great. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks! Much easier than I thought it would be, and SO much better an explanation than the official manual. I got my line cut short by inadvertently booking the electrical lines under my trailer. I had no clue what to do. This video and the one you linked about the tangled line set me straight. 🙏
🙂👍
Thanks, I do lawn mowing services around my neighborhood and this helped when my string ran out
Great!
That was a VERY helpful video! Thank you!
And whoever came up with that design is a freaking GENIUS.
🙂👍
Both ends broke off and I never remember how the spool works. Videos like this really help jog my memory! 👍
🙂👍
TY so much! Now I no longer have to bother someone that wasn't doing it correctly anyhow. TY for the FREEDOM!
😁😁
short, quick and to the point. Thank you sir 🙏🏽
YW!
Beauty. Thanks for not complicating the instructions.
🙂🙂
Thank you so much for this detailed video! Some other guy on TH-cam Took the head apart to restring it and it was a pain! I'm glad I found your video.
Great. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the simple straightforward explanation
😁👍
Very very helpful. Thank you. I have an old Stihl trimmer and you have to take that thing all apart and wind up two separate strings. I thought this was going to be the same thing so I took the whole thing apart. Then I was wondering how it worked since it looked to be easier than my old trimmer. Found your video and everything makes sense. So much easier.
Glad this helped. Thanks for the feedback!
I actually was able to do this all by myself. Thank you so much for the instructions they were great
Great! Thanks!
DeWalt should include this in the owners manual. My old ECHO & Husqvarna work the same and both are in the manual. Maybe some have lost the manual, great video!
Thanks!
I was stressing on how I was going to replace this. Thank you!!!
YW!
Great vid. Very clear and helpful. Watched it on my driveway as I restrung mine! Thanks again
You're welcome!
I have to watch this video every time I need to re-string.. watched it like 4x already.
😁😁
Thank you so much. I was having trouble getting it done, really good explanation 😮
Thanks!
This was so helpful!!...short, sweet and right to the point!
Thanks!
Excellent and simple video...helped me to remember how to restring my DeWalt
Thanks!
Thank you! Short and right to the point!
🙂👍
This was very helpful but is there a way to keep the line from flying out to impossible lengths every 2 seconds and binding itself up?
That's usually caused by the string somehow being wound the opposite direction on the spool. Try removing the string and re-stringing it.
I struggled mightily to get my Dewalt string to comply with your instructions, but because of something you didn't tell me, I was unable to do so. My spool still had string on it so the new string wouldn't go through. I spent hours on the phone with support, then I visited a local repair shop sho spotted the problem right away. Easy fix.
😯
Your video saved my marriage today. Thank you! 🙏
😂😂👍👍
If you use non-braided line it is easier to feed through the aligned holes.
Accurate and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
YW!
Thanks!!! I tried to take the head off and do it that way. It was drinking me crazy. Great video 👍🏼 thank you!
Thanks!
Good tutorial. Very short and saying exactli what to do. No confussion. Congrats got my suscripción and like. Thank you so much. Muchas gracias.😊
Thank you!
Thank you sir. So simple. I was about to tear this thing apart trying to figure it out
Glad this helped. Thanks!
Thanks! Was trying to spool it the old fashioned way. This took 30 secs 😂
😁👍
Thanks for video. When the string gets short while trimming how does it put out more string?.
You tap the head lightly on the ground while it's spinning at mostly full speed. This allows a tiny bit of string to release and you'll hear the metal blade cutting the string when it gets long enough.
Thank you so much. I had no idea where to start.
Glad this helped!
This was the DeWalt tool that finished converting me to tools that were conventionally gas. This thing has some serious cajones. Really all the DeWalt 20V tools do
Agreed, it's a nice tool and plenty of power.
I did the exact same thing, but it failed. I proceeded to turn it on after applying the string, and the string just fly out instead. Any tips? I don’t understand why it just fly out?
It flies out when the string gets wrapped the wrong direction around the spool. I don't know why that would've happened but if you do this again, it should work. Make sure to wind it the proper direction.
Loaded as directed but I'm still having issues with it overfeeding the line and spooling up around the shaft. Any pointers would be appreciated👍
It's feeding out too much string? This is usually caused by the string being wound the wrong direction on the spool. Since this weedeater winds it automatically, perhaps the string is too curled when you feed it thru and it goes the wrong direction on the spool?
You'll need to remove the string and try again. The straighter the string before feeding it in, the more likely you won't have the problem.
Geez I love you man cause I was not doing this the simple way that’s for sure😂😂😂 I kept trying to feed it with the cap off and kept accidentally doing the bump feed and was ready to throw it through a window lol
🥰😂
Nice. Tutorial is short and simple and a Phillies fan, extra bonus.
😁😁
Absolutely! I had no idea, even my neighbors didn’t!
👍👍
100% thank you!!
My neighbor's thank you as well!!
I was swearing like a friggin sailor last night lol trying to do this..... and cursed every engineer that works at DeWalt!!
Lol
I'll go get it out of the trash can and try what you taught on us on the video!!!
I hope you got it to work!
Thanks for sharing this task; big help this morning!!!!
Great! Thanks!
You don't have to keep twisting the cap to load the string you can hold the bottom portion of it and just ratchet the top portion
Because of thos to the point easy video. I am now a subscriber sir!! Thank you!
Great! Thank you!
60v Dewalt attachment capable weed whacker is compatible w rotary scissors where u will never use strings nor wires.
Lol oh may I was doing it the wrong way.. I took it out and manually winding it...your video helped so much!. now I can go weed my weeds cause husband says thinks I don't much all day. 😊
😄😄
Exactly what I needed, THANK YOU!
YW!
For anyone who might have any trouble like I did, the last part of my old line got stuck inside the assembly. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it in while I added my new line, so take it out! It’s easy, just pinch both of the “tab” looking parts of the plastic assembly in and you can take half of the assembly off.
That’s cool, except I don’t have those lines on my Dewalt and it’s brand new. In top of that I do see some weed whacker line still in the spool, too bad you couldn’t through a little more of these details. Guess I’ll figure out how to open it up
How to open it: th-cam.com/video/vKIImyn-iak/w-d-xo.html
Thanks a million. Quick and easy to understand. Did I say thanks?
😁
When I tired to reload mine both parts spin . Like I can't line up the holes because no matter ehat I do both sides spin with each other .
Perfect tutorial. Short, to the point and effective.
Thanks!
What is the maximum with of the string which can be applied? On the product description it says 2mm maximum, if ghats so I’m not really sure if this can handle heavy grass.
The manual for the 20V version says 0.080" max.
@@FixEverythingYourself yes I thoguht will buy the 54 one and the manual says 2mm(0.08”) however the trimmer what I had had 1.6mm but was to weak after 2 sec the string broken so I thought Ill buy a better one, but If Im limited to 2mm(0.08”) Im kind of worried if it will face the weed in my garden.
I know this video is 1 year old, but I'm about to pull my hair out trying to find a video for help. I have a DeWalt DCST925M1 string trimmer. I need to find out how to remove the current trimmer head and replace it with a Quickfeed head. Can you help me? I hate having to struggle to get the head off and wrap around new string. I'm not very strong. Thank you.
Sorry, I haven't done that on this weedeater. I'd expect the replacement part to come with instructions but those are often hard to follow.
Thanks for sharing just followed your instructions and was successful.
👍😁
Great video. nice and quick. However, I just want to stress. COUNTERCLOCKWISE spinning of the spool to feed the wire. Don't ask how I know. Hello from Calabogie Ontario
🙂👍
Dude. I was making the process waaay to hard! Haha! Thx!
😁👍
Thank you so much for the video! Saved me time with the manual.
Great!
Thank you for helping me
Now I can go weed eat before hubby gets home 😊
😄👍
Mine doesnt give more length when i put the cap on the ground while rotating. Any idea?
Sometimes the string gets pinched on itself when being wound and won't release. I'd just remove the string and reload it.
Thanks for keeping this short!
😄👍
Thanks brother… I’m glad that I checked first. ;)
🙂👍
I must have a different version of the Dewalt 20V Trimmer as the top and bottom do not turn independently. Didn't help me.
Interesting. How old is yours? What's the model number?
@@FixEverythingYourself Under a year old. Bought new at Home Depot. DCST922 String Trimmer Type 2 Ser200820
looks very simple. Thanks for guide.
YW!
Thank you! You saved me 2hrs!!!
Great!
So what do you do when there's still string in the head but both sides are ripped off inside
Do this: th-cam.com/video/vKIImyn-iak/w-d-xo.html
@@FixEverythingYourself thank you!
Man i feel stupid, i was trying to restring it by removing the spool, this method is so much easier
You're not the first or the last to do that, and you'll never do that again so congrats on saving yourself some time!
I tried his method. My Dewalt unwinds while spinning without bumping. Any ideas?
A few days ago another user (@chrisallen640) said he solved this same problem by using Dewalt string (which happens to be smooth, not textured) and wound the string tight when winding.
Can you add more string while it still spinning? Minimize down time.
Of course. And don't wear gloves. Those will just get in the way.
Hello, how are you? I have a problem. I have the same machine and I did the whole procedure, but when I wanted to use it, the whole thread ran out.
Most likely you wound the string in the wrong direction somehow. Perhaps the string got in the wrong channel during loading? Whatever happened, the string running out quickly is usually because the string is wound the wrong way on the spool.
Same here. You can only wind it one direction. Not ising dewalt string. Maybe that's it?
That's possible but I wouldn't think so. But it's worth a try because you'll need more string sooner or later. Hard to say and I haven't had that problem.
If you figure it out, please reply with how you fixed it. Thanks!
@@FixEverythingYourself so, an update. I did switch to dewalt string and still experienced the same issue to a lesser degree. But, I did figure out how to stop it. So while feeding the string, if I keep the string tight while turning the dial, it loads the string tighter and that seems to have solved it. Next I will try that with other string to verify but I suspect it will be fine. The difference in my 3rs party sting and the dewalt is the dewalt is smooth and the other has edges. Like star shaped. The manual says to use only smooth so that probably aided in my problem.
Thanks for following up on how you fixed it. Makes sense.
Like bro, work for me today...👍🌞
Awesome 👍
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
YW!
Mine runs out too fast. I can trim the edges on about 30ft before I run out of line.
Nice, simple, and easy, thanks!
Thanks!
worked perfectly thank you. great video
Thanks!
Thanks Super easy and Flyers hat as a bonus
😁😁
What do you do when the string breaks?
If you need to remove the string because one end broke and won't extend, use this video to take the cap off to access the string: th-cam.com/video/vKIImyn-iak/w-d-xo.html
Worked like a charm😢. Soooo thankful.
👍👍
Thank you...clear and to the point..excellent
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. GO KINGS GO!!!
😁😁
what size string do you recommend?
Needs to be 0.080" diameter.
Omg this was great advice thank you so much
I hope the guy who invented that got rich af off of that idea…
Probably not. He probably got an extra dance with the bosses wife at the Christmas party.
Maybe got a tug in Thailand with the company card?
Agreed
Definitely at least a "happy ending".🤣
Presidential material that man is 👏👏👏
Restring in minutes? What increments of time are yall usually measuring the time it takes to restring a weedeater? 😳
Thank you, you save my day! ❤
😁👍
Super helpful! Thank you!
👍🙂
Short and correct. Good job
Thanks 👍👍
Quick and informative. Thank you.
Thanks!
Simples when you know. Many thanks 👍
🙂👍
Good video no BS just the facts man. Keep it up.
Thanks!
Perfect explanation thank you
Thanks!
Also, you could try reading the instructions.
