Ok, this should be super easy right? Well it is after someone shows you how it works, watch this short video for a few tips. Step 1 go buy some new line!
Perfect! What an excellent video. Fixed my problem immediately and fast. Elements of a great demo video: 1. To the point. 2. No music, thank you!!! 3. Showed the process clearly in pictures. 4. Soothing voice, just enough being said. 5. Covered all points of the string loading with actual demo. 6. Short. Thank you! 👍👍👍
DeWalt kept sending me the wrong replacement head for my DCST925, and fortunately, I kept the old one. After three months of returning a head that did not fit, I came across your video which is the clearest, most succinct video I have ever seen on how to replace the string. Thank you. I finished my project in less than 5 minutes.
After I’m wrestling with my Dewalt for the last three years, I finally realized I’ve been loading the line incorrectly this entire time. Thank you for the video.
35 years I’ve been wrestling with trim spools and if I’d only watched this, I would have been able to load trim string so much easier. Thanks for a well-done easy to follow video!
I’ve been using weed trimmers for 35 years…yours is the first tutorial that I saw a simultaneous winding of both strings…that is a wonderful tip that worked great on the Dewalt spool. I’m really impressed with the Dewalt Battery Trimmer. For the price, I hope it last. 😁👍
quality seems to be good, I just sold my 40V trimmer after 5+ years of use with no issues, I now have a 20V model that folds, hopefully it will last for at least 10 years
For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.
This video was the perfect length. I got soft boy hands and I honestly don’t know how to do anything. I thank you for showing me step by step. This is a God Tier tutorial. ❤❤
You got to be kidding me, I've been winding it wrong the whole time, no wonder I was always getting tangles and line lost in the spool. Thank you for this.
I've had my DeWalt trimmer for many years and never took the time to find out how to wind the line and always had problems with it. Thanks for making this video. Now it finally works!
OMG, thank you, thank you! I had no clue how to change the string. I watched your video and kept stopping it to do it step by step as you showed. Finally success! Couldn't have done it without you... you're my hero! 🥰🥳
I can not believe how easy that was..I went out immediately and drained 2 batteries trimming everywhere I could till waiting for both batteries to recharge. I can kick myself for putting off such a easy restring! You my Dear Sir I hope the Best because you are a Blessing delivered by way of You Tube!
This video was a big help when I purchased my trimmer the spool already had string on it but would not feed when I would bump it. The instructions are not very good, when I took the string off it was on there wrong this video got me going again thanks a lot.❤
Thank you. I’m a mom of an 8 year old boy who is obsessed with lawn care. He has this trimmer and ran out of string. Dad is at work and your video saved the day. My 8 year old thanks you as well!
Yo thanks. My mom’s husband was making her come down every second and I wanted to learn how to do it bc no one could except for her but had forgotten how so I watched this and got it. Thank you much!!!!
Thank you for the thorough explanation. I lost the manual and struggled with it until I thought to check on TH-cam and saw you video. Seems so simple now lol
Very helpful video! I have string of plenty of string but it seems they all have a special way to thread them. You explained this so well that after I watched the video I went to the barn and grabbed up the line, stretched it out, and spooled it up and through the holes and it’s absolutely perfect! Thanks !! 🎉
Thanks for this GREAT tutorial video, right to the point, super clear, fantastic camera work, and good lighting! I re-spooled our DeWalt 20 volt, (the wife's string trimmer ) but I did it like I do my STIHL trimmer, I cut the line at the mid-point. It did not work, and we were frustrated, to say the least ,so your instructions were so helpful, Bravo!! The trimmer is back! Good work!
Thank you so much. It is beyond frustrating to not be able to do fairly basic things because you are missing small bits of info that make all the difference. You have no idea how happy this made me
This is a great video! Thank you so much for taking it slow and easy. I had to watch it a few times, but I just successfully refilled the string on my DeWalt 40V AND put it to work! I was very unsure about being able to do this and with your help, it really was easy! Thank you!!
Man you were tight on point, dewalt needs to pay u something for the great presentation they failed to give with the Instructions! Thanks amigo fromS. Ft.worth
After throwing my sun hat across the back yard, followed by the tangled mess of string, and getting highly agitated with trying to reload the string, I went inside and thought I would check TH-cam for any tutorials. This was excellent! I liked the step by step explanation. I will now muster my dignity and venture back outside.
Loved it, thank you. Just ran out and instead of going to buy another string head already wound, I wanted to try using the string I had already. .80 for a DeWalt this video did the trick. Thank you.
I never even thought about loading my string like this, but I will now! I’ve been doing each side individually and it’s always frustrating. Thanks for the great video
Thank you! My weed trimmer has been out of line for 2 years. Since my dewalt mower will not start, I was desperate. Found you with a You Tube search and in about one hour I had successfully added string and just used on my front yard, had 12” Weeds
Omg I’ve been doing it all wrong …… this was so easy ….. I nearly went and grabbed the tool and started doing it like you … I went and trimmed my backyard just for fun….😂😂 it refeeds perfectly
Thank you so much! It's videos like this that have me thankful for youtube, and remind me that you can still use the internet for useful things as it was originally intended. As somebody else said, this isn't rocket science but you can bet that I was about to do it the completely wrong way before I got wise and decided to check out a video on the subject. I'm sure I was about to set myself up for some world-class cursing, so thank you for saving me from doing that.
This man is a hero and a man’s man. He should get his own parking spot at his local home depot. What a stud! Thanks so much for making this video. Nice try dewalt, you tried to make it impossible for the common man to change his line but this guy outsmarted you!!
I have been getting my husband to do this for me and he gets so irritated because I just can’t get it!! Well he does it so fast I can’t tell what happens and we both get mad!! You have done such a great job explaining this!! Honestly, I don’t think he does it right because you do the mid point thing and wind both sides at the same time. Why didn’t I watch this sooner?? Thank you for helping me!!!! Nee we at time I’m going to do it in front of him so he can see I am perfectly capable!!
I need to buy you a case of beer! You have solved my longtime issue of fighting with my weed eater! Before this video i constantly had to fight my weed eater with the string getting caught or held up. You my friend are a lifesaver! Thank you!!!
It is quick and easy but I think also wrong. Mine vibrated hell of a lot more after trying this method. Took the same line, cut it in two pieces and fed it into the starter holes then wrapped it around and it was much smoother.
Thank you so much for this video, it was perfect and I really appreciate being shown how to do this patiently and properly 😅😅😅 I read the owners manual and maybe it was just me but it did not explain this anywhere near as well as you did, thank you so much!!
The string size is determined by the size and difficulty of the job you’re doing. For most home applications.095 is fine-if you’re tackling an open field with high grass use a bigger size-each size fits
THANK YOU! I just ripped through so much string not realizing there is thicker string for thicker weeds. I have been wondering about blades for areas that have wild blackberry thorns and brush any suggestions?
This video was more informative than the other video I had found, and the loading is much easier doing it in one piece. I was disgusted with my trimmer 2 days ago because new line (Oregon) kept breaking and not reloading, today I followed your instructions and my trimmer with new Oregon line works better than ever.. I wore shorts and flip flops though while testing LOL
I have that same head and spool....I cannot get the freekin' spool off.!!! I hafta pry on it with 2 screwdrivers and try to pry it off. I even have used a Dremel tool to cut back all of the white circle lockers and it still takes me a ton of time to get the stinkin' think off. Will the ECHO Speed Feed head work on the 60v.? or 40v.? Thanks for your video. Just would like to know the trick in getting off that spool.
Thank you for this. You made it look so easy even with one hand. I'll be putting in new line on mine soon and this video gives me an idea of what to expect. I'll be using two hands though the first time :).
How did I never know the right way to do this! Been weed whacking since I was like 12 and I always just fiddle farted the wire in there, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thanks!

Thank you for getting to the point and not having a pointless intro w camera time. This was perfect.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for taking your time in showing how to do it. I know it’s not rocket science but it’s a pain until you find out how to actually do it right.
I can’t believe it took this long for me to search for a video like this to instruct how to do it right! Thank you !

Your pace was great and your camera angles captured it perfectly.
Video was perfect length. I fought with mine for a minute and after watching this it all made perfect sense. Thanks.
Those line holding notches were the trick I was missing! Thank you, you just saved me tens of minutes of finagling and cursing.

good stuff! Hurts to see you do almost the entire video with one hand, and I'm here having trouble with two hands and the family helping!
Not even kidding. Struggled with the beast for years. You might have saved my life. You definitely saved this trimmers life! Thanks!
I can not believe how easy that was..I went out immediately and drained 2 batteries trimming everywhere I could till waiting for both batteries to recharge.
I can kick myself for putting off such a easy restring!

Thank you for this video. 🎉. The owner manual was very confusing with poor illustration, but your video was a simple explanation 😅

Glad it was helpful! It won't stop raining here, so I need to get ready for lots of weeds soon.

Glad you're back up and running! Nothing better than kids attacking some weeds!
Great job filming this WHILE taking it apart and showing how to feed the line!
Yo thanks. My mom’s husband was making her come down every second and I wanted to learn how to do it bc no one could except for her but had forgotten how so I watched this and got it. Thank you much!!!!
After watching this, I changed my trimmer line in a matter of minutes compared to previous attempts. Thank you.
And fewer curse words!
Thank you for the thorough explanation. I lost the manual and struggled with it until I thought to check on TH-cam and saw you video. Seems so simple now lol
I go back to your video Every time I forget how to do this . Thank you
This video is right on point ,every step really helps for those who are beginners to do it yourself yard work
I'm a beginner and this helped immensely.
Thanks for the compliment!
This is the best instructional video on how to do this. I finally can do it with ease!! Thank you!

I bought one a couple of weeks back and have been getting aggravated with the tangled mess each time as well. Ty for this video...lol

Excellent! I’ve been doing it wrong for ages. Very helpful 😊
Thank you for explaining this. Now I can go back out and do more yardwork.
Excellent. Your system is far easier and more efficient than the mess I was making of the process.

Super easy to do once you watch this video. Thanks for showing us how to do it right!
You are so welcome!
Well done! I was about to go get a pipe wrench and a sawzall.
Saved me TONS of frustration and time. Thanks! 😁
Good tutorial on this style of dewalt trimmer. It's the only one I could find on the dcst 920 xr 20v brushless as there a few different models. Thanks
Thank You again!! I had to come back and watch again! 🤦♀️🤷♀️😊
Thanks, not sure why Dewalt doesn’t make videos like this!
Thank you for this. Coming from all the men who didn’t have someone who didn’t have someone to teach them this.
Thanks for posting this! I've struggled with reloading my trimmer with string but you made it look so easy.
Glad it worked out, maybe @Dewalt should add a link to my video on their trimmers?

This one is different than our old gas powered one. Even my father didn’t know you don’t have to cut it. So this was very helpful. Thank you.
alot easier than cutting line and trying to mount it the little slots. Thank you!
Wow🤯 Life could have been so much easier if I saw this year's ago.

Thank you for this. You made it look so easy even with one hand. I'll be putting in new line on mine soon and this video gives me an idea of what to expect. I'll be using two hands though the first time :).
Glad you found it useful, Dewalt needs to provide better instructions on this one.
How did I never know the right way to do this! Been weed whacking since I was like 12 and I always just fiddle farted the wire in there, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this useful video. Followed right a long with great results! Now off to complete my yard work.
1st time changing the line. Thanks for the video.
