Nice to see you are back on the commentary wagon! I 100% agree that Trigun Stampede was meh with as my one friend put it - paradoxical pacing. I'm surprised you didn't comment on what happened to Elendira's chara from the manga to stampede. That was a huge loss! Maximum Elendira was great - Stampede Elendira was a joke. I have to admit that as an avid reader of KKSS, I would rank KKSS as my fav Nightow manga. The anime is a good gateway drug - but I def prefer the manga. Ironically, I fell in love with KKSS after getting annoyed by Stampede. The main issue is that KKSS season one created the whole White & Black story line to sort of give it a continuous plot; but it bumped a whole lot of single character development chapters into season two. It bothered me so much when the Blood Breeds are first introduced in the anime and K. K. is talking shit to Steven and you have no idea why she's calling him black-hearted. But if you read the manga, after that Blood Breed introduction story you get why Steven is "questionable" which was manga chapter 7 not, season 2 episode 3. Steven, K. K., Chain, Zed - they all don't get a good background in the anime until it is much later and it is all over the place. The best way to approach KKSS is to treat it like a work place sitcom. It has short stories that are 1-2 chapters mixed in with longer story arcs. Season 2 "Back 2 Back" gets more adventurous first with the 'noctova smile' arc and then the 'calamity auction' which - oooof - hurts but is great. Only now, with Season 3 "Beat 3 Peat" did we even get great collapse backstory! I honestly think KKSS as a manga is great - the pacing is much better, the lore unfolds slowly and you have to figure it out. KKSS is also very un-manga ish, it feels much more like an American style comic at times or that work place sitcom vibe. That was another thing that killed me about Stampede - either they info dumped or put addition info on social media to explain things. If you can't put what you need in your core work you aren't doing a good job telling the story. The detectives wearing tan trench coats, visiting the local bodega, high rent, gritty subway stations, so much of it works well. And the fact that Klaus is the one with the unwavering/naive idealism just makes it soooo good. I've even gone as far as trying to recommend a better order to watch the anime but it still isn't perfect. At this point, I honestly just care about the manga and the anime is a cool bonus but not necessary for my enjoyment of the work. www.tumblr.com/chibivesicle/726738626015330304/a-more-comprehensive-way-to-watch-kekkai-sensen
"The best way to approach KKSS is to treat it like a work place sitcom." This is perfect. Once I started doing this I enjoyed the episodes more and kind of wished the White & black stuff didnt exist. Its anime futurama too me. I'll definitely check out your guide, its very interesting to think that watching episodes in different order would improve the experience. I knew the manga would be better, I gotta get around to reading it. Also, there was sooo much more I could have said about Stampede being bad, that I just settled on that episode that just pissed me off lol. Elendira was crap though. Season 2 FTW 😆
@@breakingtropes I totally recommend reading the KKSS manga. Season 1 aka volumes 1-10 had a lot of great chapters that were skipped/excluded from the anime which really helped with character development and background. 'Outlaw of Green' and 'Cherchez L'idole' are great for Klaus, Steven and K.K. 'Angry young merman' in Season 2/B2B is also a killer chapter. Really, KKSS was an anime had the reverse Trigun '98 issue when they animated it - more then ample background and lore which they skipped over or put in season 2 awkwardly. They had so much material to work with. Why add in the original characters an okay story arc? It was fine but if they kept it sitcom style it would have made the viewer focus on the fact that it is a character driven work not huge story and there is nothing wrong with it! It really shines with Nightow's style since Trigun Maximum really suffered from going off into the weeds. If that's his style, I'm gland the editor for KKSS has guided it well. As far as Stampede, I got so pissed off by the end of my weekly episode reviews I couldn't keep the motivation. I'm not even watching season 2. I have better things to do with my time. A lot of people were disappointed by Stampede and with good reason; I had unrealistic expectations that they'd take the pacing of '98 and flesh it out with a more streamlined version of maximum for a sort of ultimate Trigun experience. That didn't happen. [shrugs]
Great video man! Glad we got to chat a bit about the different series beforehand, as you know, I'm always down to talk about Nightow's content. I really like all the visuals throughout the video for reference towards what you're saying, or just to keep the audience engaged through longer statements or thoughts. Good to have a more clear spoiler section too, though I will say that some of the visuals in the non-spoiler sections for Trigun and Gungrave were kinda spoilery. Of course, that might also just be because I know what's going on and if you didn't you wouldn't register it. Congrats on the amount of views on the previous Trigun video! I hope you get a ton of views on this one too!
My Ranking would be 1. Gungrave 2. Trigun 3. Stampede probably Gungrace was one of my first mafia and crime setting anine after Phantom and i absolutely loved it. It's easily ny top 10 without a hint of doubt
Glad to see you back bro! Yeah i cant lie gungrave is a gem really. The games are pretty mid the stories in them are wayy different in them than the anime

@@vashog9434 What kind of series do u like?
Could you make a video on 91 days or baccano?
Buccano I can see myself doing. Love that anime. I'd have to look into 91 days
Glad to see you back bro! Yeah i cant lie gungrave is a gem really. The games are pretty mid the stories in them are wayy different in them than the anime
Thanks man, much appreciated! Oh yeah, they do look mid. Needed to have the anime writers for the games maybe.
Stampede looks like a Video Game Not like Anime🤮
Yeah you right. At least it looks like a good video game. Embrace the "FUTURE" of anime or be banished! lol 🤣
